How often as a child did we grab a sweater or garment from the drawer only to find we were quickly putting it on with the inside-out? At one time years ago, it was a fashion fad and considered attractive. We often “wear” our spiritual values doing the same thing knowing the item and description is based on learned and conditioned group-think values and beliefs through culture, religion, society and families. Often the resulting life façade is hiding misery, stress, lust and neediness far different than what we speak. Humanity has learned the art of acting out a role as determined by self-appointed

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 4

authorities often fostering oppression and lack of absolute liberty of life. This pressure comes from so many different forms and sources. Often we do not know we are wearing the sweater “inside-out”. Going back to the basics of existence and relationships with all our human and divine natures, there are principles that work and principles that do not work for the benefit of all. How often do we hear “I can really trust that person” or “I don’t think I can trust you”, or “I have lost trust in you.” This is perceived as a good or wise statement but it just happens to have no value in well and loving relationships. It also is usually dripping with the projection of Guilt. The only solid principle and practice in our entire being at the deepest spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical integrated core (and anything else will fail completely) in our finding peace and completeness is realized when we turn these false imaginary concepts so both the inside and outside are totally one in values and practice. Currently, most of humanity demands that we “LOVE THE UNIVERSE AND TRUST ANOTHER HUMAN”. Firstly, the Universe does not need our love; it needs our reverence and respect. Secondly, when we often lie to our own hearts and fail to be absolutely consistent in the unity of our Thoughts, Words and Actions, why should we demand trust of another and insist on

their obedience to our rules when we break them constantly? So many are ill and struggling because they unconsciously lack comprehension of the desired alignment of Thoughts, Words and Deeds. I can secretly think something negative about another person, say something nice in front of other people (or to myself) to appear loving and kind, and act in ways which display my desire to see that person judged and punished. Unless the “spine” of these three attitudes is perfectly aligned, we will likely walk through life with a limp and poor posture in all we are and do. Maybe we are looking for control and means of applying guilt to the other individual by seeking power over their lives and condemning what we see as our version of their mistakes or breach of trust. Remember; Imposed Guilt = Mind Control. Mind control over others usually sets up the rules of a relationship to allow theft of energy from another for our own gain in some manner. Allow these new principles of life to burn into our souls, minds and being while insisting on living them completely with full embrace without exception in our thoughts, words and deeds. These principles and practices are as follows: 1)

I will fully TRUST the Universe for all that is good. Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 5

2)

I will fully LOVE all of humanity and the earth without exception celebrating ALL of our divine and human essence without exception.

3) I will enter the space of intimate love-making with the Universe through Nature and every experience of Beauty afforded me through safe stewardship of the creatures and the earth. 4) I will attach my Universal energies as closely as possible to that which touches sunlight, dirt and water as their only source. 5) My gateway to all divine intimacy will only be entered in passionate intimacy through giving selflessly to another human being with no thought of transaction or what I will get. 6) At any moment, I would cheerfully give my life-breath even unto death of being for the wellness and joy of any other human without hesitation and conditions. 7) I live knowing my only true means of loving God, Allah,

Jesus, the Universe or any name known for Higher Beings comes by simply and completely loving others as much as I would wish to love myself. There is no other way that demands the integrity and truth from my own heart with complete honesty! We see this garment that allows us to wear it as an interface with all humanity and the earth. We usually call it the garment of peace, joy, love, and all wellness of life. It can only display our goodness as we wish to be known when we wear it “outside-in” instead of “insideout”. Then we constantly and absolutely draw those to ourselves, in combined celebration of all that exists, who are doing the same. Dan Davison is a man with a vision. I used to look to others and objects in my life for my happiness. I thought I could find it in a new dress or a new pair of shoes. But new dresses and shoes are like new cars driven off the dealership car lot. Dresses and shoes lose value instantly and are temporary in that they eventually wear out. I thought a friend would stay with me forever. But circumstances occur and friends move away or focus their sights on a new, the same or different path than mine, and drift away. I’ve learned this is part of our growth. When we change, we let go of what no longer supports what is in our hearts.

in their journey. When our life appears upside down or not what we had hoped for, we are perfect in each moment because we are learning our lessons. We are doing the best we can because that is all we know in that moment.

Happiness is found deep within us and we can bring it to the surface by embracing our gratitude, staying positive and being our true self.

Being grateful changes our vibration to a higher level. Just naming three things or persons we are grateful for, changes our attitude to one of hope and faith that more positive situations and people will come into our life. They did before, why not now? Anything is possible with a positive attitude.

Staying positive no matter what happens, ensures happiness. Even storm clouds have a silver lining. We just have to look for the benefits of every situation. Our most difficult and challenging experiences serve to teach us lessons. We grow the most when we walk through our sorrows, mistakes and frustrations. They all have purpose and help us to strengthen our resolve and inner power.

Walking our path in our authentic self brings joy. This is who I am, take it or leave it, this is me. “I am perfect and I’m still working on it”, was the most empowering statement Grandmaster Zaysan, my Tai Chi instructor, gave me years ago. I gladly share this statement with anyone who could use it

We are meant to feel the joys and the sorrows of life. Even the sad moments and frustrating experiences serve to help us learn more about love. As we gain more knowledge and spiritual insight, through our meditations and lessons, our best evolves to higher action that benefits all. When we apply this to everyone, then we see the world as a creative adventure and we are all helping one another! Life becomes a joy.

It has been said by many a Saint and Master that thoughts become manifest but more importantly, it is thoughts that are empowered by e-motion or passion that makes wanted or unwanted things happen in life. The real secret to making our heart’s desire come true is in finding that emotional sweet spot within each of us and acknowledging it. It works much like tuning into a radio station, we aim for and tune into that light filled loving space of Divine Flow which is always for our highest good. Incidentally, this is also the space where our Spirit World Guides and Angels stand by waiting for us to ask for help. Divine Flow is a living tangible quantum energy that acts as a bridge to our soul and the Angels and it is our natural state of being. One of the trickiest aspects where we tend to get messed up, aside from doubt, is in allowing them to assist us; we allow the universe to instill its higher intelligence into the matter, in coordinating and bringing about a life of fulfillment, love, joy, good health, harmony and prosperity. Asking and allowing the Divine Flow’s powerful energy to flow brings us into a

harmonious alignment with the natural upward spiral of spiritual evolution, affecting all of life in a good way and enhances our soul connection which is the most important relationship we will ever have; intimately joyful. Here we also come to know and comprehend what our highest potential is and grow confidence in creating all good things in life for ourselves and loved ones.

"The real secret to making our heart’s desire come true is in finding that emotional sweet spot within each of us and acknowledging it."

We know that we are following our own authentic soul path when we feel fulfilled, happy, confident and inspired. We are always thinking, feeling, creating and manifesting, in each moment, each choice and with each reaction. When we aim for the highest and allow it to flow through our mind, body and soul, we are opening the power within our soul that naturally dissipates unhealthy thoughts, feelings and beliefs that makes us feel

ASK: Ask from your heart, aim for the highest possible assistance. It is a flash or blink of an eye where Miracles happen in the right time and way. FAITH: It only takes a tiny seed of faith and hope for a transformation of any situation. ALLOW: Take time to Sigh breathe, this dissipates resistance and allows the Angels and Guides to do their work. Allow images, whispers, symbols and your own inner compass and intuition to flow.

This was a typical evening, long day at work, back at the apartment, dinner was finished and I was still working. I then remembered I had an early call in the morning but had noticed that the snack counter in my training room was low so

“You’ll see in a moment” he said, opening the back door of his van. He started pulling out gum ball machines – the type you see in grocery stores or department stores. He just kept piling them up in my empty cart,

whistling happily. “Can I help you with your groceries” he asked with a smile. He stood about 5″10, mid-thirties, dressed in blue jeans and a blue shirt with rolled up sleeves. He smiled constantly and as he walked over, he

smiled again, waved and wished me a good night. I have to admit the entire encounter barely lasted about 5 minutes. Somehow, I knew this was one of those encounters that would touch me. Here was someone who seemed to be one of the most joyful people I had ever seen. To many, a job lugging candy and bubble gum machines to stores after stores could be seen as a boring job. Yet, to hear him whistle, and see him smile and listen to him speak gave me the feeling that he was likely the best in his role, in San Antonio, perhaps in Texas, maybe even in the U.S. of A.! He took pride in what he did, he was happy and just seemingly content… and for a moment, I tried to remember the last time I saw someone so content and peaceful and joyous! – I’m still trying to remember… It seems these days I have been really trying to determine what it is that makes me “whistle” – what makes me smile, even a few hours before ending my “shift” (if my shift really ever has an end..) I thought about those around me

– when was the last time I heard someone hum, or whistle or just smile so big that we wonder what one must be thinking to be so happy… Sometimes, life hands us these moments to make us reflect. We get caught up in the hustle, the rush, the stress, the urgency; the multi-tasking and we may not realize how much we get swept in the motion like being caught in a vortex. We don’t realize the pace we keep, the level of continued stress we accept as tolerable, the amount of moments when we need to take deep breaths to get clarity in the midst of chaos. I stood by my car as I saw him make his way into the store; his cart overfilled with dispensing machines full of gums, toys and trinkets and as he made his way I could still hear him whistle and nod to those passing by. One has to wonder, are we in a whistling mind set or are we so focused on everything else we don’t feel the joy of what we do, in a way that makes us sing, or hum or smile? When was the last time YOU WHISTLED?????

I’m far from perfect at practicing compassion…let me tell ya But I do know …compassion has made a huge impact in my life, and the life of many others and I believe in today’s world we could all use a little more compassion. Many small drops of water can fill a bucket. So perhaps this can serve to be one of MY drops of water in that bucket.

WHO wants to look beautiful and live longer?????

There are other benefits as well, and these are emotional and spiritual.

Kewl...because right now for the low low price of… (sounds like an infomercial don’t it)

We all need compassion in our lives and we all have the ability to give and receive compassion.

For the low price of ZERO…ZERO! we can have it all.

As essential as compassion is across tradition, as real as so many know it to be, it has become hollowed out for some. It is seen by some as a squishy "kum by yah" thing or seen as potentially depressing.

Scientific studies suggest there are physical benefits to practicing compassion. People who practice it have 100 PERCENT more DHEA, which is a hormone that counteracts the aging process and 23 percent less Cortisol-the Stress Hormone. But that’s not all Folks...for the same low...low price... The Happiness package will be thrown in. Just one of the added benefits of compassion is, it helps you to be happier, and brings others around you to be happier…. If you light a lamp for someone else, it will also brighten your path. ~ Buddha

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 17

We usually see it in the media as heroic people you could never be like or happy endings or examples of self-sacrifice that would seem to be too good to be true most of the time. Our cultural imagination about compassion has been deadened by idealistic images. It would seem that the world as most of us know it has adopted tolerance as a core virtue.

In the medical sense of the word, it is about testing the limits of thriving in an unfavourable environment. We’ve pretty much come as far as we can with tolerance as our only guiding virtue people…But compassion IS a worthy successor. Compassion is not a luxury it IS a necessity. Without it, I truly believe… we could not survive.

In the dictionary, it says about tolerance… allowing, indulging and enduring.

What is Compassion? Compassion is kind…and kindness is a by-product of all the great virtues and is the most uplifting form of instant gratification.

A good example is… if you are at a funeral.

It is seen in virtually every religion in the land in the form of The Golden Rule. It is curiosity without assumptions. It can go hand in hand with empathy, it can be joined with the harder work of forgiveness and reconciliation… but it can express itself in the simple act of presence. It is linked to practical virtues like generosity and hospitality and… just being there…just showing up. Compassion is language barrier free.

You don’t even have to understand the language the bereaved is speaking... you understand their pain or sorrow through experience and all you need to do is smile maybe put your hand gently on their back or hold their hand… and

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 18

they will feel your compassion and they see your compassion in these actions …of just being there…by just showing up. The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention.... A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect… than the most well intentioned words. When you listen generously to people, they can hear the truth in themselves, often for the first time. Compassion can also be linked to beauty…a willingness to see beauty in another person not just seeing what it is about them that might need helping.

For the religious It can also bring us into the territory of mystery, encouraging us to see not just beauty... but perhaps also to look for the face of God...in the moment of suffering...in the face of a stranger…in the face of the vibrant religious person. You may call God love, you may call God goodness, but the best name for God is compassion. Compassion is an innate part of human response to suffering, which is comprised of a three-part experience of noticing another’s pain… feeling with another… and responding in some way.

Experiencing Compassion The experience of compassion include changes in the way people think about themselves and the way they see their coworkers—compassion builds bonds between people. Compassion is the tie that binds every human being to each other and to the mystery of creation. It is the common thread of all religions, meditations, and community. Compassion does not acknowledge religious barriers we place between ourselves and others. It acknowledges human longings, aspirations, and tragedies. When a reflex reaction causes us to help a stranger, with no motivation …other than that person is in need, or maybe in peril of his life…our compassion is in action. Compassion leads to freedom of discovering your voice, your gifts, and your purpose.

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 19

When we are born, we cannot survive on our own, even though we are all born with survival instincts. We are cared for by another, fed, clothed and nurtured by another…acts of compassion. Yet isn’t it funny we are seldom taught about compassion. Instead, we are more often taught about Self-esteem. Which brings me to self-compassion…

Self-Compassion is better than self-esteem For many years, people have had an obsession with self-esteem. Self-esteem is a bit of a mixed bag and sometimes isn’t all what it’s cracked up to be. A lot of people with high self-esteem feel so good about themselves they feel they are entitled to use and abuse other people. The question then is how do we get people to feel good about themselves without just elevating their sense of superiority The answer to that question seems to lie in the concept of self-compassion. Where self-esteem involves how good you feel about yourself, and how positively you evaluate yourself, selfcompassion involves how you treat yourself when things go wrong.

Do you treat yourself with the same kindness, love and concern and compassion that you treat your other loved ones when they fail, when the goof things up or when they lose? When other people goof up we treat them kindly to try to make them feel better but so many of us when we goof things up we agonize, we criticize ourselves, we despair and it can ruin the emotional quality of our lives. Even people with high self-esteem do that. They can be very, very critical when things go wrong. People who are high in self-compassion can roll with the punches, they can go with the flow because when things go badly they simple treat themselves better. Is it possible that someone can become so self-compassionate that they become self-indulgent? Cutting themselves so much slack that they never take responsibility for what they do or never

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 20

admit they make mistakes? They just dance through life when bad things happen.

badly, they just don’t add that extra layer of catastrophe that so many people do when bad things happen.

Research shows this is not the case.

We are all human...we all goof up

People that are self-compassionate take full responsibility for the bad things they do, for their failures, their losses and their goof ups. They just don’t feel quite as badly about them, yes, they still feel

Be compassionate with others...be compassionate with yourself. Be beautiful, be healthy, and be happy.

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 21

By Rev. Rita Marie Browning Who do I think that I am? What does my back ground say about myself? Where do I start? I am a 56 year old woman who was raised in a strong Catholic home. We were taught that God loved us, but would also condemn. That by itself is scary. I spend a great deal of my time growing up asking a lot of questions concerning this. How could God, love and hate us at the same time? It did not make much sense to me. I also felt the presence of spirit around me all the while not understanding what spirit was. It would take me many years to really understand the truths, my truth. This I feel is the road of hard knocks. Throughout my life, I have met some very interesting people that have tried to tell me that, “this way is right”, “no this way is right” and “don’t be thinking that way”. I tried learning as much as I could on different subjects concerning spirit which included different religious beliefs. I attended different churches; spoke with different men and woman of the cloth so to speak. I know in my heart there was something different out there that would sit right with me. I took many different courses, such as parapsychology, psychic development, religious studies and more. I completed the certification and registration to receive my spiritual healing course through the Ontario Healers Network. I am also a Reiki Master/Teacher. I practice different types of alternative healing. When I came across the Metaphysical University in 2004, there was something about it that caught my eye. It felt good. It embraced all beliefs stating that there was no one right religion, but that each exists to serve whatever level of spiritual evolution its leaders and followers have attained. That Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 22

the findings of spiritual truth begins with intuitive recognition of the intellectual reality of spiritual truths, but is only an individualized reality when mystically accepted and experience as the first priority of one’ life. That the positives of the human spirit should be emphasized by religion, rather than dwelling on and making a religiously sanctioned life style out of the negative. This is what drew me to it. I could continue my belief in spirit, my love in Father/Mother God, and my acceptation of all. I will say that when I first started taking the course, the Ministry was not my calling. Learning more was. As I studied further, there was something pulling at me. I wanted to help people understand that it’s ok to believe in something different. It’s ok to ask questions about things you did not understand. I have spent my whole life asking questions. When I took my oath as a Metaphysical Minister, I knew it meant more to me than passing a test. It meant that I could continue on my path of learning about Universal Spirit, helping, teaching, and most of all, being able to embrace spirit. Being true to spirit. I am a firm believer in taking what you need from any walks of life and leave the rest. When I first put my Centre together, I could have called it a church, but choose not to. So many people today seem to almost be afraid of the word. I wanted people to feel welcome coming and being able to talk about their feelings openly. What does Metaphysics mean to me? What does Spiritualism mean to me? I feel for me they give me the better of two worlds. Now remember, this is my belief and may not be yours but that is ok. Metaphysics means I can open any door that feels right for me. I can embrace all religions, all aspects of nature, all aspects of spirit and all aspects of life. Spiritualism means that I can continue to embrace spirit freely and openly. I can teach people that spirit does exists. That we never die. Just our body leaves us not our soul. We are just a continuation of God, the Universe, The Creator. On March 2nd, 2009 the Bancroft Centre for Awakening Spiritual Growth became recognized as a Religious Body for the Purpose of Solemnizing Marriages in the Province of Ontario. I now hold my License for Marriage thought this Centre. For Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 23

Come On, Get Your Happy On! Nine Ways To Feel Happier Today by Helena Bowers

Everyone gets stuck in a rut sometimes. What happens once you get there is up to you. You can either let it sap all the joy of living out and confidence out of you, or you can pull yourself up by the bootstraps and find a way to get your happy on. In case you’re not quite sure how to do that, here are a few suggestions:

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 25

1. Stop wallowing in your problems. Thinking about your problems is a sure way to chase happiness away. If there’s something specific that’s bothering you and causing you to be unhappy, find a way to deal with it. Action always works better than wallowing. And if there’s nothing you can do about it right this minute, then feel free to play Scarlett O’Hara and think about it tomorrow. Set it aside and think about something that does make you happy.

2. Find someone to hang out with. When you’re unhappy, it’s not good to be alone. It’s much too conducive to the aforementioned wallowing. Call up a friend and see if you can spend some time with them. Even if you just get out for coffee, it’s a step closer to feeling happier than sitting all by yourself at home. 3. Do what you love. A lot of unhappiness stems from having to do work we don’t like very much. So when you have free time, you should be filling it with the things and people you love. Go with the tried and true activities that you enjoy doing. Chances are that you’ll have a smile back on your face in no time. 4. Try something new. Are you feeling a little blue because you’re bored? Boredom breeds negative energy that can turn to unhappiness in a heartbeat. Why not try a new hobby that you’ve thought about but never got around to.

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 26

5. Take a class. Pick a subject that you have interest in and sign up. Learning something new leads to new experiences and opportunities, and the happiness you seek might be just around the corner. You never know until you try!

6. Get some exercise. You can get your happy on just by moving your body. Go for a walk outside, or turn the radio on and dance around your living room. Whatever you decide to do, don’t let your mind tell your body it’s too tired because chances are that as soon as you start moving, you’ll start feeling better.

7. Get out and meet new people. You can find new people to chat with everywhere. You can even do it without leaving your home by finding likeminded people online. Meeting a new friend that you connect well with will certainly improve your mood.

8. Start new adventures. Try something new either by yourself or with your friends. Let your mind go wild with ideas. As you start planning your adventure, you’ll find your happiness meter moving up again as you get caught up in the excitement.

9. Make time for your spiritual side. Sometimes we become unhappy when we’re too rushed and busy. Take a little me time to relax, unwind and meditate. Even if you’re not a religious person, you can contemplate the answers to life’s big questions. When you focus on the big picture, sometimes it allows you to see your challenges and unhappiness in a whole other light.

Next time you’re feeling unhappy and life’s challenges are getting you down, try one of these ideas and see if you can’t get chase the blues away. Because when it comes right down to it, happiness is a choice and the choice is yours! So, to paraphrase that Dierks Bentley song … Come on, come on, Get your happy on!

All of the universe is composed of vibrations and frequencies. Everything from the smallest to the largest vibrates at a certain frequency. This is our connection with sound healing and it is our connection with all of the universe. In the process of sound healing we allow the vibrations of sound to resonant with us. Since different parts of our body are vibrating at different vibratory rates sound can be used to bring harmony and healing into these regions. Sound healing can come from us from many different modalities. Some may experience relaxation and calming by listening to the sound of water pouring from a fountain or the pulsating waves of the ocean against the beach. Perhaps others will find comfort in the sound of the wind as it rustles through the trees or the sound of a gentle spring rain. The similarities in these is that they all come from nature and bring forth pure resonance. In sound healing this is the focus. We want to bring pure and natural sounds into our being. It has been shown that water crystals or plants that are exposed to beautiful music will grow beautifully. Conversely, if they are exposed to discordant sounds or music the life force in them is affected adversely and the results will be non-harmonious. We are the same way. Listening to calming and beautiful music, harmonies or tones can also produce a balance with this sound and our internal and external being. The main premise in sound healing is connecting with a sound that “Resonates with You. As these sounds are brought into your being then you will benefit as their harmonious interaction blends with your being melting away discordant energy and restoring balance and healing. A sound healing practitioner may use a number of different modalities to match your frequencies with the sound needed for your healing. Popular modalities could include crystal singing bowls, chanting, mantras, ting-shaws and Native rattles or drums. Generally, the practitioner will be able to tune in psychically and energetically with the Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 29

right sounds to bring about a restored being on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Depending on the level of healing required some, any or all of these may be utilized in various combinations. We can also heal ourselves with sound by incorporating it into our meditation or spiritual practice. One popular method is using a certain tone or chanting sound directed at each of our seven chakrahs or energy centers. Inhaling completely chant each tone 3-7 times focusing on the center of each chakra.

Living your life happily, resiliently, and optimistically is wonderful, but it's also essential to your health. Being a happy person actually protects you from stress and therefore helps you live longer and better. Income, social status, skin colour, or health has nothing to do with real happiness. According to recent research, it has more to do with the ability to deal with the challenges that come up in life, such as the death of a loved one, health issues, divorce, etc. So - how does one become a contented and optimistic person? It’s up to you to reach your potential when situations come up that anger or frighten you or bring on negative feelings, examine your reaction. You can actually train yourself to see the brighter side of a situation and deal with it more effectively and healthfully. One of the smartest things ever said is that only one thing in life will always remain the same: CHANGE. Whether you're in an intolerable situation or even a euphoric one, things always change. Truly acknowledging this will help you cope during times of difficult personal trials and tribulations. Social networks are essential to happiness. Accepting people for who they are, avoiding arguments, and letting go of resentments is key. I don't mean that you should lie down and be a doormat, but rather make an effort to get along with others and try to understand their point of view. This small change can make an enormous difference in the way people treat you and the way you feel about both them and yourself. A spiritual connection can provide you with a sense of belonging, support, and purpose. Having a personal practice of meditation or gratitude or communion fosters joy and peace. Gain a sense of power and take control of yourself and your thoughts. Seeking the support of a coach or a good friend can help people harness a sense of control over themselves and their lives. Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 32

Don't limit yourself to robotically performing perfunctory duties in life. Instead… empower and train yourself, and you will not only be happy and optimistic, but you will also be the best version of you to those around you. You are responsible to yourself to live your life to the fullest of your potential.

by MarVeena Meek

Happiness is a wonderful state of mind. Knowing how to change our perspective helps us keep that happy state more often. The more that we can stay in a high vibration like joy, we can stay in harmony with our soul essence. Joy is the highest vibration that we know in the human experience. When we are in this really high vibration place we have more potential to create the life that we are wanting to live. There are a lot of things that can throw us out of our happy place. The death of a loved one, losing a job or a break up. We can also get thrown off kilter by little things like getting cut off in traffic, a real or imagined snub. There are lots of little day to day happenings that can get us in a funk. One measure of our souls maturity from spirit is how much of this sort of thing can we take without losing our happy place. The way I have it imagined is that our highest master teacher guide has us in their sights at all time. In sort of what was explained to me as a hologram. They can observe this “MarVeena” hologram and read my personal analytics. See how many times I had a reaction over daily stuff. To what

degree I reacted and how long it took me to get back into my happy place. The analytics don’t lie, when we get off kilter and pissy it will be noticed. One of the spiritual goals that we have and might not know is to be able to spend conscious time with our master teacher guides. For most of us this would be impossible because your vibrations are to low. If a really high vibrational teacher or being came into your personal space it would fry your wires. When we begin to demonstrate an even keel even when bad things happen. We are in a place that the high vibrational teachers can come into our space without burning us up. Then they can teach us, talk to us. This would be such a huge blessing and help for us. These are all good reasons to cultivate calm and happy in our life. So when we begin to be aware that we can choose how to react to things and make a choice to stay neutral or in joy, we will begin to see that our stress factor goes down. We get more opportunities and connections. We also get more attention from highly evolved spiritual teachers and angels. They can inspire us to take our creations to even higher levels.

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 35

When major things happen like a death in the family or break up. It helps me to look at things from a higher perspective. To affirm that this soul is lifting out of a physical body, now they will be focused in their astral body were they can continue to explore this great Universe. I trust that I will see them again. I affirm the continuity of the soul's progress through life, death and then re-birth. Only by going through these stages can we make the kind of gains our souls are craving. When people go out of your life, I remind myself that we are all moving back to at-one-ment with Creation. We all have a little bit different path to do so. There are affirmations that help me stay Zen. I don’t always stay there; it is my choice though of how I respond to the day to day icky stuff. A lot of studies show that happy people are healthier and live longer. Those are two good reasons to remember when something yucky comes up. What I do is

just acknowledge what is happening like “oops, I just got cut off”, then put my attention on to something else. I might re-write the scene, like make an excuse for their behavior. Like, well maybe they are having a medical emergency and need to go fast to the hospital. Or even say something like “The pixies are at it again and messing with my computer”. If I do get dragged down into the scene and I mutter an ugly word or even thought. I immediately cancel, clear and delete this thought from all aspects of myself. Then I will intend white light blessings around me to make for the slip up. Don’t get down on yourself for having human thoughts. Do what you can to change up the scene and tone as soon as you can. Don’t worry, Be Happy!

Bright Blessings, MarVeena Meek

I was always sensitive to spirits around me. Especially animals. After a NDE (Near Death Experience) in my twenties, I was able to see and hear more of the spirits that sometimes come around us. Over time, I found that there was a lot of healing for others when I used my psychic abilities to relay what the spirits wanted to say. I am the go-between. From my heart I do my best to relay what your loved ones in the spirit world want to tell you. I relay the inspiration and ideas from your guides, teachers and angels. It is my way of touching the world with beauty. I help others to understand that life goes on after the breath leaves the body. I also give special mediumship readings and teach self-mastery programs virtually and live throughout the US.

A very common question I have been asked many times now is, ' What is Hypnosis and WHY would I want to do it?' A very legitimate question. Many people fear the unknown and envision a stage performance where you are made to quack like a duck or do a funny dance. Unfortunately this stigma has given Hypnosis a bad name when in fact it is very beneficial to people. Hypnosis relaxes your critical mind so your subconscious mind can be activated. Our critical minds are constantly judging, doubting, and blaming when we are awake. This makes it very hard to release negative patterns and habits that are stored in our subconscious. Our subconscious is the core to our creativity and imagination. When hypnotizing someone, the Hypnotist is a 'coach' in a sense. Coaching your critical mind to calm so the negative patterns and habits that are stored in your subconscious can be replaced with healthy and positive suggestions. It's a very relaxing process and can be quite empowering to the individual who

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 38

wants to succeed. The Hypnotist cannot make you do anything you don't want to do. The client has the power to accept or reject any suggestion that is given. That is the beauty of it; the client has ALL of the power. So, how can it make you happy? My journey with Hypnosis was life changing. I was very depressed, rock bottom I like to call it, and really was looking for an end. I had no desires, hopes or dreams. How I got to that state is not as important as how I got out of it. I was recording my own sessions and selfhypnotizing myself. I found the timbre of my voice to be very soothing and made for this type of work. Every day for many months I listened to my own recordings and got stronger, more positive and could it be.... happier! Yes I was happy. An emotion that I had very rarely felt but was starting to feel on a daily basis. I was empowered. With this new attitude came so many ideas and desires. I started working out and releasing weight. I was able to let go of toxic relationships in my life. I was able to stand up for myself without fear. Hypnosis gave me my life back.

guiding me to my life's purpose. I was born to be a Hypnotist. I've been on the other side and know the emotions and the inner turmoil of wanting to change. I know Hypnosis works because I am here as living proof. Hypnosis brought me closer to Spirit and to my true calling which is helping people find their personal power. We all have that power within us; it's just finding a way to unleash it. Hypnosis allows us to find joy and happiness from within. We were not given this wonderful gift of our mind from Spirit so we could be miserable and fail. Our minds are more powerful than we think. We all have the capabilities to succeed; sometimes we just need a little help.

Now, as I sit here in the present, thinking of the past and how I became a Hypnotist it's almost surreal. I do believe Spirit was by my side,

Become a non-smoker; release the extra weight from your body; manage your stress, anxiety and pain; release negative thought patterns; and manage your fears and phobias. These are just a few things Hypnosis can help with. I am a Certified Hynotherapist and my office is in Haliburton Village. I book by appointment only. To book an appointment with me call 705-457-7827. I can help you to achieve your goals. Denise Hinchcliffe CH

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 40

By Sandy Brewer, PhD. I shouldn't have lived. The odds were against it. But I did. I shouldn't have ultimately learned how to thrive and live a successful life. Those odds were even slimmer. It began so early in my life. Like the time when I was 2 ½ and found myself flying through the air on the way to hit a wall. My mother was the thrower and I was that which had been thrown. This was white, suburban America in the 1940's, where the "rule" was that child abuse didn't happen. It did, of course. I'm living proof of that. It happened everywhere. It still does.

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 41

Life for me went down-hill from that first airborne incident. By the time I was ten I had been raped and tortured by my father countless times, with my mother's knowledge. It wasn't that she was cowed by him or too frightened to step in. She was actually the ruler of the house. Very twisted. Very cruel and painful for a little girl to endure. Ten was also the year they tried to kill me. I had heard them planning it. I sat on my bed, stunned, yet somehow ready, more tired than I had ever been in my life. Perhaps, I thought to myself, ten years and seven months had been long enough… My mother had orchestrated the plan, my father had been instructed to execute it. He had placed the cold metal barrel of a pistol against the side of my forehead and instructed me to drink the deadly barbiturate laced orange soda he had placed on the table next to me. It all seemed so surreal and yet it all felt so unimportant. I tried to drink it. I really did. But as I touched the rim of the glass to my lips, something erupted in my brain, crashing through the barren emptiness I had been in. A primitive yowl came out of my mouth and I violently threw the glass in his face.

On his second try whatever lightening rod of survival that had made itself

known a few minutes earlier was long gone. I submitted and drank. But on my father's second try, he didn't have quite enough toxins available to totally destroy my body, and through an extraordinary stroke of luck or the grace of God - in my mind it's definitely the latter - I survived, but just barely.

 As a child, I never thought I'd live to be eighteen. Once I got there the only vow I made was that I would not repeat the abuse. It would end with me.

 There were worse things yet to come, many more experiences of extreme trauma and pain and another close encounter with death. As a child, I never thought I'd live to be eighteen. Once I got there the only vow I made was that I would not repeat the abuse. It would end with me. Other than that, my best hope for my life was that I would be able to maintain my cover story - the appearance of okayness. I certainly never thought I would live to be a truly successful, well-adjusted woman with a loving husband and beautiful children and grandchildren of my own.

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 42

So, how did I get from there to here? How do any of us get out of the darkness of pain and suffering into the light of all that we might be? I've been a counselor for well over thirty five years, and through my own healing and then the privilege of helping others, it became so clear that the details of our stories, harsh as they might be, are not really important. I know that doesn't sound fair, but life is not about fair. It's about change and empowerment. Reality is not carved in stone; it's based on a point of view. And my point of view is I'm only a victim if I give some one or some thing else my mind.

My parents can't have it, and neither can anyone else. It's mine to own, to cherish and to heal. We all have stories, but they are just back stories. Back stories that can control and ruin our lives if we don't learn how to let them go. We are not our experiences; we are not the places through which we have traveled; and we are definitely not the result of some else's ignorance and depravity. Unless we say so. Whatever one's life journey has been, we have the power within us to choose the challenges as stumbling blocks or stepping stones.

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 43

The Miracle of Forgiveness So, here's where forgiveness comes in, because no one can thrive as a victim. If we want freedom, joy and laughter, if we want to create loving, caring relationships, if we want to know the parts of life we haven't yet known, then forgiveness - letting go of our attachment to our stories - is required. No healing, empowerment or forward progress can happen without it. It takes courage to choose something greater than a wound, but we all have the power to do so. It is innate within us. So I chose that I was not a victim of the world around me or within me. I chose that I didn't have to stay afraid of what I had experienced. And I chose that I didn't have to sanitize it - to cover it with a pretty yellow ribbon or an endless shroud of grief. That would simply have kept me in fear of it and the frequency or energy that it represented. We do not change our lives or our world by sanitizing the harsh things we see or have seen. We create change by gaining strength, courage, wisdom and conviction through looking the situation/energy of it in the eye and insisting that it does not name us. That falls under our jurisdiction! Forgiveness is about letting go in peace, whether we are forgiving ourselves or others. It does not mean you are a dirty, rotten excuse for a human being and I forgive you anyway. Forgiveness is about compassion and release. It's about knowing that it takes two for war and one for peace. And in the end, forgiveness is understanding that from a Spiritual point of view there is nothing to forgive. I was thirty-nine when true forgiveness was brought home to me. I was in a deep meditation, not in any way focusing on my parents, when I suddenly "saw" them in my inner senses sitting around me forming a small circle. I had estranged myself from them for the sake of my children when I was twenty-three and had not seen them since that day. But there I was, deep within myself, witnessing my father sitting on my left and my mother sitting on my right. And that's when all the practice of learning how to stay in charge of the focus of my mind and heal my heart paid off. That's when the miracle of forgiveness happened. I reached out with each of my hands to touch my mother and father. Prior to that

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 44

moment, I would have rather put my naked hand into road kill - and that from someone who is seriously squeamish! But instead, with my mind's eye, I touched each of them. Then the words came. "Whatever the two of you still need to finish with each other," I said, "that is between the two of you. But between thee and me now, there is peace." And, in a nutshell, that's my song. The release of identifying myself based on old stories, the cracking open of a once wounded heart, the expansion of love. Each of us has the ability to discover the light and the promise of a new day, if we will just let go to the idea that our identities have to be seeded in yesterday, and willingly practice the art of forgiveness. For with each dawn comes the light. Which will you choose today? Š2013 Sandy Brewer, PhD, is the author of the award winning memoir/self-growth book: Pursuit of Light, An Extraordinary Journey. From her early life with unimaginable challenges Sandy didn't dream that one say she would live in joy, be rewarded with her own amazing husband and family, and have the phenomenal bonus of being fulfilled in her work as an international speaker, therapist/counselor and life coach. She has walked the walk, so she has experienced - scientifically, pragmatically, and philosophically - what works and what doesn't. She teaches that there is a wisdom and potential in all of us so much greater than our current challenges or our past wounds. "No matter what transpired yesterday, it is insignificant to what lies within the core of your being today," Brewer states. She teaches how to heal and integrate the parts of oneself that still hurt and limit one's ability to make new choices that can change their life today. Her goal is to help people to connect to the promise of themselves that is so much greater than a lifetime of doubt and be guided into how to use their power of choice to foster desired changes for one's life and relationships. She teaches practical tools the she knows work - for she teaches only those that she has used with herself. States Brewer, "Against all odds, I lived -- and my life has been a gift." And she shares that gift and some of those practical tools in her memoir Pursuit of Light. For more information, go to http://www.SandyBrewer.com

By Estelle Gibson, CPA The Law of Attraction is a powerful universal law that affects everything in your life and the lives of those around you. It is similar to gravity, it is always there, it is working in your life right now. You probably have heard the Law of Attraction stated in many different ways: “Like attracts Like” “Thoughts held in mind produce those in kind” “Cause and effect”, “What you focus on you attract” “Whatever you think about either positive or negative, you attract” “Birds of a feather, flock together” So what does that have to do with joy? Everything that exists vibrates at a subatomic level and your thoughts and feelings are no different - they have a vibratory frequency. The barometer for your vibrations is your emotions and feelings. Whenever you feel and have emotion about something, you create a vibration for it and that vibrational frequency- like a radio transmitter, draws to you those things that vibrate at the same frequency. In The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent by Esther and Jerry Hicks - they list joy as one of the highest emotions on the scale of emotions. So I how do I use the Law of Attraction to experience more joy? 1. The first step is to become aware of what you are focusing on. Whatever you give your attention to and focus on is what you’ll attract. So if you’re focusing on all the negative things in your life by talking about them and complaining about them, then you feel the feelings of frustration, overwhelm, worry and fear, sadness. You are now vibrating at the level of those feelings and you will attract things that are a match to that vibration….those things that make you feel more frustration, overwhelm, worry, fear, sadness.

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 47

2. The next step is to shift your vibration by focusing more on what you do want – you can start by creating a Joy List!. Make a list of all things that bring you joy. Here’s a list to get you started: Your favorite music Dancing Candles Ice Cream on a hot summer day Hiking in the woods A beautiful sunrise Time alone in contemplation Spending time with family and friends Coffee with a friend Reading your favorite book Watching your favorite movie Hugging your child 3. Keeping Joy Alive! The more you focus on what brings you joy the more you are a match to the frequency of joy, the stronger the vibration that you are transmitting and the more you attract at that frequency. To keep joy alive share your joy list with others, talk about what you love in your life, create a gratitude list for all the things you are grateful for. You can create Joy in Your Life!!! When I was asked to write for Mystical Voices in the area of animal communication I jumped at the chance. What better way to share my love and passion for connecting and working with animals? I sat down to write the article and realized I had so much to share I had no idea where to start so I thought I would start at the very beginning. What exactly is animal communication and how does it work?

If you had told me when I was in my 20’s that I was going to be an animal communicator, I likely would have been excited at the idea but also think that someone was pulling my leg. Although I have always loved animals, I never really considered the possibility that having a conversation with them was possible let alone being able to scan their bodies for pain and discomfort. I was not born knowing that I had the

ability to connect with animals on a deeper level but I did open myself to the idea and had the passion and desire to expand on the concept and you can too. It is not a gift that only a few have it is something everyone can develop to varying degrees. In order to be able to receive information from the animals and nature we need to find that state of mind where stillness exists. It is a shift is consciousness to where your thoughts are there but not at the forefront of our minds. You expand your energy to connect with that of the Universal Source. The Universal Source serves as a mediator and translator between you and the animals or your intended recipient. You send thoughts, impressions and feelings to the animal through an energy doorway and the animal responds in the same manner via the doorway to the Universal Source. The process itself is very simplistic, the hardest part is believing and knowing that it is possible. Connecting with animals on this level you can receive a variety of information such as: How the animal feels mentally, physically and emotionally; What their likes and dislikes are; Insights into behavioural issues;

Mystical Voices ~ August 2013 ~ 49

The animals mission with their person; You get a sense of their personality types; How they feel with respect to end of life issues; Sometimes they have insights for the person; As you can see the information received is varied with each animal. Some like to chat while others are more reserved, just like people. Having these energetic conversations with animals can help to

solve behaviour issues, locate areas of discomfort in the body as well as allow the human companion to have a deeper understanding of their animal friends. Connecting with animals has brought me such joy and I am so grateful for all the lessons the animals have taught me about life and about myself. Connecting with animals has been a bright blessing in my life and I know if you feel passionately about animals and have an affinity for them you will enjoy making the connection yourself.
