SUNDAY WORSHIP
8AM, CHAPEL
The atmosphere and acoustics in the Chapel help create a unique and expressive worship experience. The Valley Singers vocal ensemble and organ provide music for this service, along with traditional liturgical elements.
9AM, SANCTUARY & LIVESTREAM
VPC’s first sanctuary service includes music, prayer, space for kids, preaching, scripture, and an emphasis on community. Music is commonly led by VPC’s Chancel Choir and accompanied by our organ.
10:30AM, SANCTUARY & LIVESTREAM
Worship at 10:30AM contains many of the same elements as 9AM. Music is commonly led by VPC’s worship band with drums, guitar, piano, and bass. Whether you decide to attend a specific service because of its time or musical style, you will find space to hear God’s Spirit and respond through Christ-centered worship to God’s acts of salvation and ongoing transformation in the world.
AWAKEN CAFÉ, OPEN 8:30AM-NOON
We invite you to connect with the VPC community before or after worship at Awaken! Proceeds from beverage purchases support VPC’s Mission Partners locally and globally. This is a great place to spend time with friends and family; kids can play in the Awaken Plaza and the indoor/outdoor seating provides a comfortable place to relax all year long.
WELCOME FROM PASTOR JOYNT Summer is here! This brochure helps all of us see the opportunities to grow and serve at VPC in the coming months. If you are away for months, or on a short vacation, you can continue to connect online with our worship and many of our activities. This summer the sermons and devotionals will concentrate on the theme of leadership. All of us, in different areas, exercise leadership. When I look at our congregation, I see a company of leaders. May God bless you this summer! — Pastor David Joynt

The Bible for Grown-Ups RightNow Media video series with Pastor & Author Andy Stanley June 5 & 12 As children, many of us received a leather-bound book full of long words and difficult names we couldn’t pronounce. We were told everything in it was true and we should do our best to abide by its teachings. Then we grew up. What was oh-so-simple then is . . . well, it’s not simple. Perhaps that’s because we were taught Bible stories but not the story of the Bible. There is a big difference. —Andy Stanley How to Better Understand What You Read in the Bible With Steve Carter June 19 & 26 Steve will lead us in an approach to Bible understanding to help us get more out of what we read. Using the book of Titus, Steve will give us tools to read and understand Paul’s short letter, helping us dig deep into the text and bring God’s Word closer to our hearts.

NEWS FROM SESSION MAY MEETING REPORT
Mike Vreeland gave an excellent review of VPC’s communication methods to members and the community. Session appreciates the efforts of Mike and the Communications Team to find creative solutions to reach people. At the May 22 Congregational meeting called by Session, Miles Pondelik was elected Trustee to Valley Presbyterian Foundation to replace an open position.
Karen Gill Meyer Clerk of Session 480-368-6567
With deep regret Session accepted the resignation of Elder George Bosworth, Chairman of Session’s Finance & Operations Committee. Debbie Cox was confirmed as a co-opt member of the Discipleship & Spiritual Growth Committee. Session moved to contract to paint and replace flooring on both floors of the Administration Building. Part of the funds will come from Fund the Need funds raised in April at VPF’s Annual Dinner. The final distribution of the Jene & Millie Jacoby Trust will go to the Valley Presbyterian Foundation General Fund and the VPC Maintenance Reserve. Session approved a motion confirming that the Negotiation Committee is authorized to conduct discussions and negotiations with the Presbytery’s Administrative Committee concerning dismissal of VPC from the Grand Canyon Presbytery and PCUSA. The Negotiation Committee is authorized to hire counsel and consultants as needed to advise the Committee in formulating a recommendation for the resolution of this matter. The Committee will keep Session informed throughout the process. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. —Blessings, Karen Gill Meyer
