The work of VPC's Stephen Ministers is rarely seen, but the effects of their time and is felt in individual lives. Over the past five years, hundreds of people in our community have benefited from time in this ministry. Here are some of the stories from current Stephen Ministers: Tom Van Arsdale, on the spiritual benefits of meeting with a Stephen Minister: Stephen Ministry has helped me understand how I can use my God-given talents to listen to my Care Receiver’s anxieties and provide comfort to them. This friendship has helped me have better conscious contact relationship with Jesus Christ. Many of my Care Receivers have developed closer relationships with Jesus, because of how Stephen Ministry brings them an understanding of God’s unconditional love in times of need. Kay Harvey, on the continuing journey with someone she ministers to: She was so excited to have someone to talk to. She used to paint in Europe and enjoyed talking about Italy. I said a blessing for the meal, she said she loved hearing me pray. She is slowly starting to ask questions about what it means to be a Christian. She's so thankful for everyone at VPC. Amy Greer, about what being a Stephen Minister means to her: Stephen Ministry has connected me with so many amazing members of our congregation. Helping others has always been important to me, and I am able to be support those experiencing a difficult time. Having someone listen without judging can be hardest thing to find and is often the most needed.
