FOCUS
A New Heart for the Valley devotional inspiration
Valley Presbyterian Church week of February 18, 2018
During VPC's Capital Campaign we'll take an excerpt from Pastor Joynt's daily devotional. It will be a call to action to listen, pray, or engage with A New Heart for the Valley. You can get your own daily devotional in each worship center or online: vpc.church/devotional. Devotional: What stands in the way of a new heart? We do! If we see the future as determined by the past; if we expect the constraints of this moment to overwhelm the creativity and commitment God can call forth from us, then we do. If we are passive and fail to respond to the proddings of the Holy Spirit; if we hold onto old hurts, past grievances, and previous failures, then we do. If we don’t set aside or revise ideas and programs that demand much and yield little; if we treat the familiar as sacred and refuse to embrace the new, then we do! If we forget the promises of God or underestimate his power to work renewal in us and through us, then we do! If we don’t pray for new hearts, if we don’t expect revival, if we don’t seek and dream; and if we don’t discover fresh ways to celebrate and serve and grow—then we do! Scripture: Jeremiah 31:31-34
