2018 St. Patrick Behavioral Health Interfaith Conference Connecting Our Community: Increasing Awareness & Sharing Behavioral Health Resources

Thursday, May 3, 7:30AM-3:30PM St Patrick Catholic Community Email to register: bhi@stpatcc.org Please join us for a wonderful day of networking and sessions on a variety of behavioral health topics, as well as lunch. Our Keynote address speaker will be Rev. Ron Friesen - Mental Health Care for Latinos in Arizona and plenary address by Dr. Shelly Reed - The Intersection of Faith and Mental Health.

During VPC's Capital Campaign we'll take an excerpt from Pastor Joynt's daily devotional. It will be a call to action to listen, pray, or engage with A New Heart for the Valley. You can get your own daily devotional in each worship center or online: vpc.church/devotional. Devotional: Present Hearts The clue to Mary’s gratitude is her support of Jesus’ work. This support was tangible. She was present as he taught and healed and faced opposition in Galilee. And she provided financial and material help in the ministry. Today’s verse from Mark and yesterday’s verses from Luke 8 seem rather matter of fact. But in the first century, they were revolutionary—Jesus was egalitarian in a hierarchical world, valuing and empowering women to become contributing disciples in his ministry. In the first century, this was shocking. Thank God today for a woman you know who is a spiritual leader. Scripture: Mark 15:40

A New Heart did you know?

Top two questions I get: How long do we have to fulfill our pledge? You may fulfill your pledge over the next three years. When will construction begin? The very earliest would be November 2018. Church leadership will do its best to minimize disruption during Advent, Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter. Men's Monthly Breakfast

The events and celebrations of Holy Week have come to a close, but the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ happens every day as we grow closer to Jesus Christ! This is a time of year to renew our commitment to that relationship, and the Discipleship and Spiritual Growth ministry here at VPC wants to walk alongside you in that journey. We have opportunities to grow in faith on Wednesday nights. Dr. Carter has returned to share the life and testimony of Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer in his courageous stand against Nazi tyranny. Larry Kerby has returned to help parents learn about how to raise their children with love, support, and boundaries. Alpha Small Groups are also meeting on Wednesdays to go through 30 Days, a devotional by Nicky Gumbel. We also will be re-launching the House of Prayer on Sunday, May 20, giving every member of the congregation an opportunity to pray for each other and for the ministries of the church. In this post-Easter season, our prayer for each of you is that the Discipleship and Spiritual Growth ministry will help you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ as we journey together with the presence and power of our great God and Savior. -Pastor Kelly Nieto
