VPC DEACON MINISTRY

It's important to be present for those in hospitals and rehab centers. Our Deacon Ministry team members offer brief visits, a smile, and a prayer during those times when encouragement and a friendly face are most needed. It’s in these times that we experience the care of Christ through others. Interested in learning more? Email Tammy: tammym@vpc.church

Staff Appreciation – Notes of Gratitude Submit your notes of gratitude to the wonderful staff of VPC! Cards are available in church office – complete as many as you would like, and return them to Tammy by April 24. VPC News

Called to Lead: Why the All-Church Nominating Committee is vital To continue to thrive, Valley Presbyterian Church needs the effective leadership of our Elders, the care of our Deacons, and the stewardship of our Foundation Trustees. In partnership with VPC staff, Elders lead each of the ministry areas of our church, establish the annual budget, and prayerfully listen to discern God's plans for VPC. Deacons minister to the needs of our congregation and are responsible for the majority of oneon-one care given to members of our community. Trustees steward the Foundation, manage the endowment, and discern needs to be funded from the endowment.

vpc.church/easter From Pastor Joynt's Devotional for Palm Sunday Read them all online: vpc.church/pastor-joynts-devotionals Are you as good as I am at generating excuses for things you don’t want to do? Imagine if you were Jesus on the brink of Holy Week. How many reasons were there not to enter the city and endure the suffering to come? If He avoided the confrontation, He could continue to heal, help, and teach. He was only 33, and His disciples had only had a few years to prepare for their coming responsibilities. None of His friends thought embracing the cross was a good idea. The coming events were going to be manifestly unfair, with unsupported charges, false witnesses, and motivations built on fear, jealousy, and expediency. But Jesus understood that the Kingdom He was founding was built on sacrifice and forgiveness. He cast aside excuses and headed for Jerusalem.

Easter is for everyone! Easter is the most significant day in Christianity. We see Jesus hailed entering Jerusalem, betrayed eating with his disciples, condemned, killed, and resurrected, to bridge the chasm between humanity and God once and for all. There are many who don’t know this story, haven’t felt the joy of Easter morning, and have never encountered the Risen Jesus in their own lives. This Easter, invite someone to join you at VPC. Has God put you in someone’s life to ask them to take part in the experience of Holy Week? God is at work at VPC, and He wants us to bring people to a place where Jesus Christ transforms lives. Included in your bulletin are bookmarks, one for you, and other to share with someone.

You're in charge of the next series

During the next Sermon Series we’ll address a question submitted by you, the VPC community, each week. We hope you’ll join us on Sunday mornings, and we hope you’ll participate by submitting a question! Email questions to: davidj@vpc.church Or online: vpc.church/questions
