SUMMER READING Anatomy of the Soul-Curt Thompson, MD Integrating new findings in neuroscience and attachment with Christian spirituality, Dr. Thompson reveals how it is possible to rewire your mind, altering your brain patterns and literally making you more like the person God intended you to be. Anatomy of the Soul illustrates how learning about one of God’s most miraculous creations-your brain-can enrich your life, your relationships, and your impact on the world around you. The book includes reflection questions on each chapter.

A New Heart for the Valley still needs you!

FOCUS

Valley Presbyterian Church week of June 10, 2018

vpc.church/anewheart The momentum is building and VPC has begun making the plans for our campus a reality. Hundreds of people have committed over $6.5 million dollars toward Phase One of A New Heart for the Valley. This is great news! God is at work in our community as many are making this a spiritual and charitable priority. An additional $6 million is needed to complete the vision for A New Heart for the Valley. It will take the whole congregation, committing however they can. Do you still have questions or concerns? We'd love to talk with you. Wondering how long you have to give? Commitments can be paid over three years. Feel like your support won't make a difference? A New Heart for the Valley needs all sizes of support to be successful. Every contribution counts!

Just before midnight, after traveling for over 15 hours, our team arrived at Mount Gerizim Presbyterian Church in Champoton, Campeche, Mexico, greeted with songs and hugs. The people of Mount Gerizim are currently worshiping in a dirt lot behind member's home, next to a fish processing plant. Their hearts are filled with the love of the Lord!

It was a privilege to join with them, Accion Ministries (friendsofaccion.org) and Northminster Presbyterian Church (npctucson.org), to finish the floor and roof of their new church. After five days of grueling work, as one community, we were able to move over 100,000 pounds of material into place-and we did it all by hand! Not only were we able to complete this herculean project, but each afternoon we engaged with the children of the community in a vacation bible school. It was incredible to watch as our people shared the love of Jesus with our new friends in Champoton- without speaking the same language.
