Chairing a Building Committee presents challenges I welcome every day; juggling congregational and facility needs, reviewing building plans, assessing funds raised, as well as interacting with architects, contractors, and church staff. Through it all I've felt God's presence and guiding hand.
“Looking for a community to share my faith journey.” • Hometown Waconia, MN • Domestic Engineer • Hobbies include hiking, tennis, and travel
With your input, it's an honor to bring this project to life while honoring the financial gifts VPC has received. The Building Committee is tasked with evaluating and making recommendations to Session, and Session will use God’s wisdom to make those recommendations a reality. I'm excited for the future of VPC, and believe the renovations called for in the Master Plan will ensure that we remain a vibrant and engaged Christian community where Jesus Christ transforms lives.

Devotionals available Starting September 12, let's re-imagine Wednesday evenings
I turn 60 this year, and I realize that I will pass from middle age to my more “experienced” years. I am a late Baby Boomer, raised in traditional worship. I'm very much at home during traditional worship in our Sanctuary with pews, organ, choral music, hymns, liturgy, and sermons delivered by a pastor in a robe. Remodeling the Sanctuary to make it a powerful space for all types of worship does not offend me, and I am grateful that the core essence and traditional feel will not be lost with the changes planned for it. I am also grateful that VPC's traditional and contemporary attendees can again worship in the same location without compromising either style. I look increasingly to God through VPC as a source of reassurance, strength, faith, and security as I face the issues that come with retirement, aging, and mortality. I am grateful to be able to help shape VPC for this role and many others of equal importance for the future. Beth and I are supporting A New Heart for the Valley with a gift over and above our faith giving, and I hope each and every member of VPC will support this exciting endeavor. We see it as a blessing to be able to give to an initiative that we believe is coming from God’s direction through the people of His church at VPC! Building Committee Chair, Ed Glady Questions? Forward 2018 VPC Men’s Retreat
Friday-Sunday, September 21-23 UCYC Camp, Prescott, AZ, Cost: $135 Speaker: Rev. Jimmy Farley Sign up: vpc.church/men (scholarships available)
Oasis was born from a desire to create a time during the week to bring people together to eat, to learn, and to build relationships. We know you're busy, and carving out time to come to church during the week is challenging. That's why VPC is setting aside Wednesday evenings, where everyone in the community can come and spend some time with great people growing closer to God. Pastor David Joynt is also excited about Oasis: I am putting Oasis Community Wednesdays onto my calendar every week. I can’t wait to deepen bonds with people I meet and greet on Sundays. Come and sample the food trucks, hear the choirs, explore your questions in the classes, and make some new friends. Learn more about the classes being offered! Childcare available by reservation (0-5): nursery@vpc.church.
