VPC has 44 active Stephen Ministers who are currently meeting and caring for those in need in our faith community. Stephen Ministers are called and trained members of the congregation who provide insight and a listening ear to help navigate life's challenges. VPC has 21 Lay Hospital Chaplains. These volunteers average five visits per week to nearby hospitals and rehab centers to connect with people from our community who are in dealing with medical issues. VPC's Pastors also make several visits a week to check in on those in medical centers.

Why do we give?

The North Valley Walkers raised almost $2000 this year to support educational programs for Mental Health Awareness in the Valley of the Sun. Thank you again for your support of the team, the members of our Mental Health Ministry at VPC, and for those suffering from mental illness.

When you give, reflect on the gifts God has entrusted to you. Taking even just a few minutes to think about why and how you use the gifts God has given you can have a profound effect. This is a powerful exercise to do with your family.

COOKS' TOUR 2018 Trunk or Treat thanks! Over 1,000 people attended last week's event for the whole community A great deal of planning and preparation goes into such a large event, and VPC is thankful for everyone who attended. Thanks to all who hosted trunks, volunteered, and attended for creating such a fun and safe atmosphere!

Mission accomplished, with your help! After all the trinkets have been bought, home tours given, pickles purchased, and auction items closed, one thing remains about Cooks' Tour- the monies raised go toward vital service organizations locally and globally. Thank you for your support of this event and all it does for so many!

Dinnerfor 8

Dinner for 8 Sign-up today on the patio outside worship centers or online: vpc.church/dinner Questions? Call Lynda Coffelt: 480-688-1527 Eight people. Four meals. Four times a year. This is one of the best ways to get to know people at VPC! What is Dinner for 8? Dinner for 8 groups people from the VPC community together to share meals together throughout the year. The purpose is to create opportunities to get to know people from VPC that you might not otherwise meet! Meals (usually dinners, but really whatever meal) are hosted in turn by different people in each group throughout the year. I'm interested, but that sounds a little daunting Understandable! Going for a meal to a person's house that you've maybe never met can sound intimidating. Part of what makes a strong and vital faith community is the ability to step out in faith and into new situations. Hundreds of people at VPC can attest to the benefits of Dinner for 8, too! But I'm a terrible cook! That's ok! The food is really just an excuse to get to know great people, anyway. There is no pressure to cook/bake/create a culinary marvel. Meals can range from Costco pizza (which is surprisingly good) to picnics in the park. Dinner for 8 is about creating friendships more than fancy food. Do I have to be married to be in a Dinner for 8 group? Absolutely not! Dinner for 8 is open to everyone. If you just started visiting, or have been going to VPC for 60 years, Dinner for 8 is a great way to meet new people. Basically what we're saying is Dinner for 8 is a great way to meet new people. Sign up today!
