PM lauds sacrifices rendered by Pak Army in war against terrorism Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday appreciated the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army in war against terrorism. He expressed these views while talking to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa who called on him at the PM office. The meeting discussed issues related to national security. The PM was also briefed over the outcomes of ongoing antiterrorism operation Radd-ulFasad and death penalty issue of RAW agent Kulbhushan Jhadav.

Pakistan will continue to raise Kashmir issue at all forums: Zakaria Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakria has said that Pakistan would continue the efforts and raise the issue of Kashmir at all important forums. Talking to state-run media, he urged the international community to take effective steps for stopping human rights violations committed by India in the occpied Kashmir. He said, “Indian forces were involved in the killing of innocent Kashmiris who were struggling for their rights.” He said, “Pakistan was highlighting the issue of Kashmir at all forums and supporting the cause diplomatically and politically.”

Extravagance in Iftar is against piety: Saudi Arabia’s grand mufti Saudi Arabia’s grand mufti Sh e i k h Ab d u l A z i z bi n Abdullah al-Sheikh has warned the fast observing faithfuls to strictly prevent spendthrift in Iftar as it is against piety. In a statement by the grand mufti, he said, “Some philanthropists try to excel in preparing numerous dishes for their guests for Iftar.” He said, “Serving the pilgrims and making arrangement of Iftar for them is undoubtedly an action bearing great reward but many people become extravagant in all this.” Shiek h directed the peo ple to prevent th r if tiness because it is cont rar y to piety and righteousness. He urged that, “Profligation during Iftar is against the teachings of Ramazan and glory of piousness.”

Death anniversary of Inayat Hussain Bhatti observed Death anniversary of renowned showbi z celebr it y I nayat Hussain Bhatti was observed on Wednesday. Suicide bomb kills at least 90 and wounds more than 400 in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, atleast 80 people were killed and more than 350 injured in a powerful car bomb explosion in diplomatic part of capital Kabul on Wednesday, the health ministry said, warning the toll would rise further. “Unfortunately the toll has reached 80 killed and over

300 wounded, including many women and children,” said ministry spokesman Waheed Majroh, adding the figures wo uld continue to climb as more bodies are pulled from the debris. The explosion occurred during the morning rush hour in a busy part of the Afghan capital that houses

many foreign embassies and government departments. Bodies littered the scene and a huge plume of smoke rose from the area. However, it was not mediately clear what the target was. Witnesses described dozens of cars choking the roads as wounded survivors and

panicked schoolgirls sought safety, with men and woman struggling to get through security checkpoints to search for loved ones. Afghan security forces personnel are seen at the site of the car bomb attack. “A car bomb” exploded at 8:25am.

They also claimed that the judiciary was maintaining a relaxed attitude towards the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan. The minister also alleged that the aforementioned mentioned members of JIT were biased

that they had told Shafi not to appear before the JIT again. She went on to claim that the officials had told Shafi that he could face a jail term if he did not withdraw the affidavit he had submitted in the Panama Papers case. “How can JIT members tell anyone what to submit and what not?” she questioned. She also stressed that Rasool and Aziz must publically

declare that their close association with the opposition parties would not affect their performance as members of JIT. The minister also expressed concern over the leaking of some papers, saying that it was upsetting that JIT’s summons to Hussain Nawaz were seen on social media. The Supreme Court should take notice of the leaking of JIT’s summon. She added that despite

Hussain Nawaz being a nonresident Pakistani, he appeared before the JIT even though he did not have to abide by the directives of JIT. Daniyal Aziz severely criticised the PIT chief Imran Khan and termed a proclaimed offender. He accused the Election Commission of Pakistan of being too lenient with Khan, saying that no action was taken against him for not appearing before it.—DNA

PSX upgraded to MSCI Emerging Market index KARACHI: Amid high volume and record transactions, the Pakistan Stock Exchange remained bearish this week against expectations of bulls ruling the market, losing almost 3.5 percent in three days and seeming to remain so in coming days, analysts said. On June 1, PSX would be included in the Morgan Stanley Capital International

(MSCI) Emerging Markets index, seen as a major booster to the market by analysts. The PSX-100 index dropped 861 points to 50,519 points, but volume surged to 410 million with record turnover of USD 783 million, almost 4.5 times higher than normal transacted value at PSX, dealers said. PM directs for no unscheduled load-shedding in any part of country during Ramazan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed Ministry of Water and Power to ensure there is no unscheduled load shedding anywhere in the country during the holy month of Ramazan. He was chairing a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Energy in Islamabad on Tuesday to review power supply situation in the country. The Prime Minister directed

to ensure uninterrupted power supply all over Pakistan during Sehar and Iftar. The Prime Minister directed for the calculation of accurate figures for estimated power demand and expected supply from existing as well as under implementation plants over the next 12 to 36 months. He also directed for re-verification of the amounts of circular

debt from 3rd party auditors. Nawaz Sharif said provincial representatives be included in decision making on important issues related to the power sector. Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif informed the meeting that steps are being taken to end unscheduled load-shedding in different parts of the country.

Pakistan strongly condemns terrorist attack in Kabul

Pakistan strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Kabul on Wednesday morning. Foreign Office in a statement in Islamabad said that Pakistan being a victim of terrorism understands the pain and agony that such incidents inflict upon the people and society. Expressing sympathies with Afghan people, Pakistan said it firmly stands with Afghan brothers in this hour of grief and anguish. The statement said that blast has also caused damage to the residences of some Pakistani diplomats and staff, living in the close vicinity, and inflicted minor injuries to some.
