Only the mafia threatens judges’ families: CJP seeks report of AGP
ISLAMABAD: The government and the judiciary seemed to be on a collision course on Thursday after a Supreme Court judge likened the ruling party to the Sicilian mafia, prompting the government to accuse the judge of violating his oath of office and bringing a bad name to the country. Meanwhile the CJP has asked the Attorney General to explain about letter/clarification issued b the govt of a plain paper in which the government had termed the Court observation against Judicial norms. A visibly perturbed Supreme Court bench on Thursday took strong exception to an outburst from a ruling party loyalist, equating it with threats that the Sicilian mafia used to issue to the judges and their families in Italy. “Do you know who used to threaten the children of judges? The Sicilian mafia,” Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed observed. Pointing towards Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf, he
went on to say, sarcastically: “Congrat ulat ions! Your government has also joined these ranks.”In harsh govt reaction, unnamed spokesperson calls remarks against oath and code of conduct of judges. All the AG could say in response was: “No, this is not correct.” A three-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan was hearing the contempt case, initiated suo motu, against sacked Senator Nehal Hashmi for his remarks where he appeared to threaten the members of the joint investigation team (JIT) and the judiciary for investigating Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family on allegations stemming from the Panama Papers case. The mention of the Sicilian mafia in Thursday’s proceedings was reminiscent of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa’s minority judgement in the Panama Papers case, who quoted Mario Puzo’s popular 1969 novel The Godfather in the opening lines
of his verdict. But in an uncharacteristically strongly-worded reply, an unnamed government spokesperson regretted that an honourable judge had declared the government a “Sicilian mafia” and accused the AG of being its representative — an act that had damaged the prestige of the country before the international community. “Such a baseless remark is against the oath and code of conduct of the judges,” the spokesperson’s statement, which was also aired by the state-run PTV, said. Expressing “deep concern and regret” over the judge’s remarks, the spokesperson maintained that the court had not only ignored the disciplinary action taken against Mr Hashmi by the prime minister, but had instead levelled baseless allegations against the government. The gover nment had not only distanced itself from Mr Hashmi’s uncalled-for
MANSUR causcions vast blood bath and unintended consewuences if the empire strikes IMRAN KHAN
Worthies, I have read what SOHAIL war raich wrote in dunya news about IK. I TS CA LLED SCA R E MONGERING IN NUANCES. So the Empire is planning to strike back. As the status quo elite gets frustrated, Their spin doctors have started prescribing death to all, & in a Shakespearean tragedy with a lots of bad some of the good too gets destroyed. Is it a signal, indicating that a Bhutto, Hussain shaheed sohurwardy or Adnan Mandris will never be allowed to attain the age of political puberty in Muslim world in general and Pakistan in particular. Is IK whose mind is an instrument that shone so brightly bringing back a society in slumber to steadfastness next in line after Bhutto? Warraich sahib, forget about
your f lorentine nonsense and Maharaja Ashokas’ mentor CHANKIA; come clear; are you warning IK that Empire will strike back. So be it said ; so let it be done; and as a consequence there would be no empire. Unlike the empire, elite, spin doctors, & lugas press, the people of Pakistan have not lost their national ambition, and taste for excellence. IN words of king Chungaz khan to emperor khurzam shah,, when he wrote to chungaz khan ; what you wrote today; King chungaz said,” what will happen will happen, but there will be a war.” And what will be left would be fruitless fire.” Putting an end to IK by the empire in any form what so ever; will transpire into vast blood bath. Mark my words, IK is not Adnan mandris, Hussain shaheed Sohurwardy, and this is not a dark age. A man of character , with grandeur, has become a effective leader after Z A. BHUTTO, he has aimed high , proven his vision , acted on a grand scale; established his authority over teaming millions and scared leaders who splash in shallow waters.
The empire must learn lessons encapsulated in history; which are simple yet equally trenchant. Impossible is a big word thrown by small men, your sugar coated threat is a fact ,fiction or opinion, let the empire understand that IK knows what it is to be defeated, hence such leaders can reach out to bottom of their soul and come up with an extra pound of power it takes to take on the empire ; if the occasion arises. It is not chan k i or Machiavellian politics that has moulded or moved the masses, its character, integrity, prescience and charisma of a simple honest fellow and indeed the hard work that he and his party is a bolstering movement of change not directed towards any person but the system that is incapable to strengthen the institutions that run the country and sift good from the bad. Empire in Turkey disqualified Erdogan before the election , Abdullah Gul won and became PM ; restored Erdogan who became PM elevating Abdullah gul to presidency, and look where is Erdogan and where is the empire and its status quo. In war one dies only once, In politics one dies only to rise again. Defeat is not fatal in politics unless you give up and call it quits. So don’t scare us with maverick undependability. No power in Pakistan can disqualify IK, it would be a dangerous self deception.
remarks, it took a very harsh view of his outburst, as was evident from the print and electronic media reports, the spokesperson said. On Wednesday, the prime minister was chairing an important meeting related to national security, which ended in the afternoon, the spokesperson said. As soon as the matter was brought to his notice, he immediately issued Mr Hashmi a show-cause notice and suspended his basic membership of the party. Mr Hashmi was also summoned to the Prime Minister’s House and, when he failed to give a satisfactory reply, was directed to resign from the Senate.

Javed Abbasi said that overall security and economic situation stands improved in the country
as a result of policies of the government. This is the reason that the foreign investors are pouring in with their investments. He said world financial institutions are also recognizing the economic gains made by the country over the last four years. He said instead of resorting to criticism, the opposition should give concrete suggestions on the financial bill 2017-18. Najma Hameed described the budget as pro-poor. She said it is a matter of great satisfaction that no new tax has been levied. She said that the government has given relief to the farmers by reducing the prices of fertilizers. Daud Achakzai said ample funds should be allocated to address the problem of shortage of water in Balochistan including Gwadar. ASF converts retired PIA B-747 into restaurant KARACHI— Airport Security Force (ASF) has converted a retired Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 747 AP-BFV aircraft into a modern restaurant. PIA Spokesman Danyal Gilani in a tweet confirmed that the new restaurant has just been launched. The restaurant is located at old area side of Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. After that, the ASF officials refurbished and conver ted the whole plane in such a manner that it looks like a lavish restaurant from the inside. The seating arrangements, sidewalls, roof and f looring have all been
remodeled while new decorations give the plane a nice look. This is not the first time that a plane has been refurbished for some other use. Not so long ago, an aircraft was converted to restaurant in India although it wasn’t as lavish as this. The aforementioned 747-300 AP-BFV, also known as Jumbo, was retired back in late 2014 and was moved out of the airport hangers. The plane fell victim to a terrorist attack in 2014. PIA donated the aircraft to ASF and it was to be used for anti-terrorism training purposes. Prior to that it made
news due to three incidents in 2012 – burst tyres on landing, bird strike and a cracked windshield. Perhaps ASF found a better use for it in the shape of a restaurant. Nonetheless, the
new restaurant may just prove to be a popular attraction in Karachi, especially during the Ramzan months as Iftar times approach.—DNA

He said moves to negotiate a new “fair” deal that would not disadvantage US businesses and workers would begin. The Paris agreement commits the US and one hundred and eighty-seven other countries to keeping global temperatures rises well below two degrees Celsius. Only Syria and Nicaragua did not sign the deal. The United States’ decision to withdraw from the landmark Paris climate agreement was a “major disappointment for global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote global security,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric has said. “The Paris Agreement was adopted by all the world’s nations in
2015 because they recognize the immense harm that climate change is already causing and the enormous opportunity that climate action presents,” Stephane Dujarric told reporters at the UN Headquarters in New York, shortly after US President Donald Trump announced his country’s withdrawal from the agreement. “It offers a meaningful yet flexible framework for action by all countries.” He f u r ther added that Secretary-General Antnio Guterres remains confident that cities, States and businesses within the US along with other countries will continue to demonstrate vision and leadership by working for the low-carbon, resilient economic growth that will create quality jobs and markets for 21st century prosperity. “It is crucial that the United States remains a leader on environmental issues,” he noted.

(continued from yesterday) revention is always the goal with kidney failure. Chronic diseases such as hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetes are devastating because of the damage that they can do to kidneys The writer has a 40-year work experience in federal government and other organs. Lifelong diligence is important in and has directed numerous health keeping blood sugar and blood pressure within normal limits. Kidney failure may occur from an acute situaprojects. tion that injures the kidneys or from chronic diseases that gradually cause the kidneys to stop functioning. In acute renal failure, kidney function is lost rapidly and can occur from a variety of insults to the body. Since most people have two kidneys, both kidneys must be damaged for complete kidney failure to occur. Fortunately, if only one kidney fails or is diseased it can be removed, and the remaining kidney may continue to have normal kidney (renal) function. If a both patient’s kidneys are injured or diseased, a donor kidney(s) may transplanted. The list of causes of kidney failure is often categorized based on where the injury has occurred. Pre-renal causes Causes are due to decreased blood supply to the kidney. Examples of prer-enal causes of kidney failure are: Hypovolemia (low blood volume) due to blood loss Dehydration from loss of body fluid (for example, vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, fever) low intake of fluid: This may also be one of the reasons for developing kidneys disese slowly. Children are found palying and running most of the time but do not drink water in time. Their parents should take of it. Water or other liquad taken appropriatly help to avoid constipation alongwith other many other diseases. Poor intake of food Medication, that cause excessive water loss Abnormal blood flow to and from the kidney due to obstruction of the renal artery or vein. Renal causes of kidney failure (damage directly to the kidney itself) Renal causes of kidney failure include Sepsis: The body’s immune system is overwhelmed from infection and causes inflammation and shutdown of the kidneys. Medications: Some medications are toxic to the kidney including -Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and Antibiotics

Symptoms and complications of Kidney Disease and kidneys failure Hemolytic uremic syndrome: This condition results from abnormal destruction of red blood cells. It most often occurs in children after certain infections, but also may be caused by medications, pregnancy, or can occur for unknown reasons. Post- renal causes of kidney failure These are due to factors that affect outflow of the urine: Obstruction of the bladder or the ureters can cause back pressure because the kidneys continue to produce urine, but the obstruction acts like a dam, and urine backs up into the kidneys. When the pressure increases high enough, the kidneys are damaged and shut down. Prostatic hypertrophy or prostate cancer may block the urethra and prevents the bladder from emptying.

Tumors in the abdomen that surround and obstruct the ureters. Kidney stones. Usually, kidney stones affect only one kidney and do not cause kidney failure. However, if there is only one kidney present, a kidney stone may cause the remaining kidney to fail. Chronic renal failure The most common causes of chronic renal failure are related to: -poorly controlled diabetes, -poorly controlled high blood pressure, and -chronic glomerulonephritis. Less common causes of chronic renal failure include: -Polycystic kidney disease -Amyloid proteins. Normal functioning kidneys filter amyloid (a protein) from the blood stream. In kidney failure amyloid proteins in the blood rise, and can separate and clump together forming amyloid deposits into a variety of tissue and organs, including joints and tendons. This can result in symptoms of: joint stiffness, pain, and , swelling. -People who have peripheral vascular disease also may have pain in their extremities, and may develop claudication (leg pain that occurs with walking) Diet to be taken with impaired kidney function Diet is an important consideration for those with impaired kidney function. Consultation with a dietician may be helpful to understand what foods may or may not be appropriate. In this state of impaired kidney function, the kidneys cannot easily remove excess water, salt, or potassium from the blood, so foods high in potassium salt substitutes may need to be consumed in limited quantities. Examples of potassium rich foods include: Bananas, Apricots, Cantaloupe, Sweet potatoes, Yogurt, Spinach, Medications associated with kidney failure Different classes of medications may be used to help control some of the issues associated with kidney failure including: -Phosphorus-lowering medications, red blood cell production stimulation, red blood cell production (iron supplements), -bood pressure medications, vitamins The outlook for kidney failure depends upon the underlying condition that caused it. Kidney function may return to normal, especially if it is due to an acute obstruction and that obstruction is relieved. Other causes of decreased kidney function leading to kidney failure are due to underlying disease and occur slowly over time.

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan’s first game of the threematch friendly series against Ireland ended in a 2-2 draw at Lisnagarvey. An interesting edge of seat contest saw the hosts twice coming from behind to hold Pakistan 2-2, said a press release issued here. In front of a packed house, the green shirts went ahead early in the 9th minute when Aleem Bilal converted a penalty corner with a powerful drag flick. The lead did not last long. Connor Harte, who was playing his 200th international, availed a pass from Shane O’ Donoghue in the 17th minute. Just two minutes before the half-time, Ali Shan restored the lead for Pakistan when he put in the ball after a Dilber try had rebounded
off the goal keeper’s pads. Ali Shan restored Pakistan’s lead before half-time but the tantalising battle continued on resumption as Jeremy
Duncan’s late goal earned the Irish a draw. In the last quarter, Jeremy Duncan finished off an excellent combined move involving Alan Sothern
and Matthew Nelson to make it 2-2. The second match of the three test series is scheduled on.
Russian state has never been involved in hacking: Putin President Vladimir Putin insisted that the Russian state has never engaged in hacking and scoffed at allegations that hackers could influence the outcome of elections in the United States or Europe. But the Russian leader admitted the possibility that some individual “patriotic” hackers could have mounted some attacks amid the current cold spell in Russia’s relations with the West. Speaking at a meeting with senior editors of leading international news agencies, Putin also alleged that some evidence pointing at Russian hackers’ participation in attacks - he didn’t specify which - could have been falsified in an attempt to smear Russia. “I can imagine that some do it deliberately, staging a chain of attacks in such a way as to cast Russia as the origin of such an attack,” Putin said. “Modern technologies allow that to be done quite easily.” US intelligence agencies have accused Russia of hacking into Democratic Party emails, helping President Donald Trump’s election victory, and the Congressional and
FBI investigations into the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia have shattered Moscow’s hopes for a detente with Washington. Putin said the “Russo-phobic hysteria” makes it “somewhat inconvenient to work with one another or even to talk.” “It’s having an impact, and I’m afraid this is one of the goals of those who organise it are pursuing and they can fine-tune the public sentiments to their liking trying to establish an atmosphere that is going to prevent us from addressing common issues, say with regard to terrorism,” the Russian leader said. Putin predicted “this will end, sooner or later,” adding that “we are patient, we know how to wait and we will wait.” Asked if Russian hackers could try to shape the outcome of German parliamentary elections later this year, Putin said: “We never engaged in that on a state level, and have no intention of doing so.” He noted that Russia can work constructively with any
German leader, adding that he had good ties with German Chancellor Angela Merkel despite some differences. Russian meddling was also a concern in France, with Putin publicly expressing his sympathy for President Emmanuel Macron’s rivals in the campaign. Macron’s aides claimed in February that Russian groups were interfering with his campaign, and a document leak hit Macron’s campaign in the final hours of the French race. Moscow has strongly denied all allegations of election meddling. Putin argued that hackers, wherever they come from, can’t sway election outcomes because the public mood cannot be manipulated that easily. “I’m deeply convinced that no hackers can radically influence another country’s election campaign,” he said. “No hackers can influence election campaigns in any country of Europe, Asia or America.” Putin added that while the Russian state has never been involved in hacking, Russia-West tensions could have prompted some individuals to launch cyberattacks.

At least 36 dead in Manila casino attack A gunman stormed a crowded Manila casino early Friday and used gasoline to set gambling tables on fire, creating clouds of smoke that killed at least 36 people, police said. The gunman fled with more than $2 million in stolen casino chips, then forced his way into a room in an adjoining hotel and killed himself. Authorities suspect the man, who has not yet been identified, was trying to rob the casino at Resorts World Manila, a complex of hotels, restaurants, stores and a sprawling multifloor gambling area. “Either he lost in the casino and wanted to recoup his losses or he went totally nuts,” said Metropolitan Manila police chief Oscar Albayalde. While a Daesh-linked Filipino said on social media that “lone wolf soldiers” from the group were behind the attack, police noted the man didn’t shoot anyone he encountered. The only gunshot wound was a guard at the complex who accidentally shot himself, authorities said “He would have shot all the people gambling” if his goal was terrorism, national police chief Ronald dela Rosa said.
None of the bodies had gunshots, authorities said. Police saw no connection to nearly two weeks of fighting with militants aligned with the Daesh group in the southern city of Marawi. Dela Rosa said security video showed the gunman ignoring a guard who tried to question him at the complex’s entrance, then going straight to the casino. He stuffed a backpack with gambling chips, fired his assault rifle at TV screens and set gambling tables on fire by pouring petrol onto them from a 2-liter bottle he carried, dela Rosa said. It was not clear how he smuggled the petrol and rifle into the crowded casino. The gunman, whom dela Rosa described as “white, with a mustache,” about 6 feet tall and English speaking, f led the gambling area and barged into a room on the 5th floor of Maxims Hotel, which is part of the Resorts complex. He lay down on the bed, covered himself with a blanket, doused himself with gasoline and then set himself on fire, dela Rosa said. He carried no identity documents, police said.
