Meeting To formulate a Plan of Action and a Mechanism for the Reporting of CRPD A meeting was held at World Health organization hosted by WHO (World Health Organization) Islamabad on 28th March, 2013, organized by CBID (Community Based Inclusive Development) under the umbrella of Ministry of Human Rights (MOHR) To formulate a plan of action and mechanism for the reporting of CRPD (Convention on the rights of Persons with Disabilities).
CBID Network, HelpAge and Pakistan National Center on Ageing (PNCE) has organized meeting on Islamabad an age friendly City March 14, 2013 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad Global Age Friendly Cities Guidelines were developed by WHO in 2007 by working with groups in 33 countries including Islamabad Pakistan. It is an honor that Islamabad has gained the status of “Age Friendly Partner City� with strong efforts and coordination of Pakistan National Centre on Ageing (PNCA) and World Health Organization (WHO). In order to implement the Age Friendly Cities guidelines Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between WHO and Capital Administration Authority (CDA).

The meeting was held on 29th April, 2013 with the Minister of Social Welfare Mr. Khalid Habbib & Minister of Special Education Mr. Zakaria Godil regarding Implementation on Inclusive Devolvement and UN-CRPD, at Sindh secretariat Karachi organized by Disabled welfare Association (Provincial Coordinator Sindh Chapter)
Community Based Inclusive Training through Independent Living Strategy 28-30 April, 2013 at Karachi Independent Living Center Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi The Community based inclusive training workshop through independent living strategy was organized from 28-30 April, 2013 at Karachi Independent Living Center Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi CBID Sindh Secretariat. The workshop was attended by 50 persons with different disabilities with full active participation organized by Disabled welfare Association Provincial Coordinator for Sindh.
Seminars were organized by Disabled Welfare Association (provincial Coordinator for Sindh Chapter CBID) on Disability and Inclusive Development at Bahria University 30th April, 2013 & Karachi University on 3rd May, 2013 Disabled welfare Association (Provincial Coordinator Sindh CBID Network) has conducted two seminars at Bahria University on 30th April, 2013 and Karachi University on 3rd May, 2013. The main purposes for these seminars were to raise awareness and sensitize the students about the issues related to the disability, problems, needs and rights of the persons with disabilities.
Meeting with Ms. Kishwer Zehra Member of National Assembly Held on 26th April, 2013. A meeting with was held at MQM office 9-0. Mr. Jawaid Rais Provincial Coordinator Sindh CBID and Mr. Asim Zafar Secretariat Coordinator attended this meeting. The main propose of the meeting to discuss regarding the bill of reserve seat of Persons with disabilities in National Assembly.
Minutes of Meeting Legal Committee of CBID around finalizing the Draft of the Disability Act World Health Organization (WHO) Islamabad June 4, 2013 A meeting was organized by National CBID Secretariat in collaboration with World Health Organization Islamabad, and presided over by Dr. Maryam Mallick (World Health Organization). The prime objective of the meeting was to develop a consensus around drafting of a Pakistan Disability Bill through collective/consultative efforts. Mr. Shah Khawar (Advocate Supreme Court and Former Attorney General) promised to provide full support regarding technicalities of the said draft.
2nd Consultation Meeting- Formation of Disability Act Pakistan in the light of UN-CRPD 15th June, 2013 at Faisalabad The Association of Women for Awareness and Motivation (AWAM) in collaboration with the Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID Network Pakistan) and the Highly Enthusiastic and Educative Rights Association (HEERA) organized a Consultation Meeting entitled “Formulation of Disability Draft in the Light of UNCRPD� held on 15 June 2013 in Faisalabad. The consultation was joined by 40 persons with disabilities, lawyers, media personnel, representatives of organizations focusing on human rights and disability issues. Followed by the consultation, a press conference was also conducted to highlight the challenges faced by the PWDs through media.
Executive Committee Meeting of CBID Network Pakistan was held on 19 July 2013 at Islamabad. The meeting started with the recitation of Holly Quran. Dr. Shahnawaz Munami welcomed the executive members followed by formal introduction of each. Dr. Shahnawaz (National Coordinator) described the purpose of meeting and emphasized the need of strategy to be formulated for CBID Network Pakistan and in this connection two days long workshop is going to be held from 20-21 July, 2013 at Islamabad. All the participants approved the agenda for further proceedings of the meeting. Dr. Shahnawaz Munami appreciated the efforts and contributions of Avicenna and Saiber foundation that are helping to develop the strategy of CBID Network. He added that we must be prepared to have one voice and vision before making strategy in coming two days. He appreciated the visit of Dr. Haroon Awan (CEO Avicenna) today to the venue to check the arrangements that shows his commitment to the task and cause. Dr. Shahnawaz informed the participants that, Mr. Niaz Ullah and Mr. Kashif Hafeez will be working under the guidance of Dr. Haroon Awan. He projected the constitution of CBID Network on Multimedia for brainstorming for upcoming workshop.
Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Network Strategic Planning Workshop 20-21 July, 2013 A Strategic Planning Workshop was held on 20 – 21 July 2013 in Islamabad. This was preceded by preliminary preparatory meetings held in June and July in which the Executive Council of the Community Based Inclusive Development Network Pakistan (CBIDN) identified the need to hold a planning meeting to develop a new strategic direction for the network. The purpose of the Strategic Planning Workshop was to: Develop a new strategy for the next three years Identify key initiatives Identify measures of success Set realistic targets Agree on a plan of action for the next six months The main outcomes agreed for the workshop were: CBIDN Pakistan completes a strategic planning process and develops a 3 years strategy for the network A formal report of the workshop A strategy framework, supporting indicators and a 6 months plan of action
National Consultative Meeting on Pakistan Disability Act 19th July, 2013 The meeting on formulation of Pakistan Disability Act was held at WHO (World Health Organization) office, Islamabad, organized by CBID Network Pakistan where representatives from INGOs and NGOs participated. The rationale of the meeting was to discuss and reach a mutual consensus on the formulation of Pakistan Disability Act. Dr. Maryam Mallick, Technical Advisor WHO chaired the meeting and facilitated the participants. The meeting was observed in participatory manners in presence of CBID Network representatives from all the provinces of Pakistan.
CBID Executive Body Meeting held on 2nd October, 2013 at Islamabad The CBID Network Executive Body meeting was held on 2nd October, 2013 at Hotel Pak Continental, Islamabad where representatives from INGOs and NGOs participated. The rationale of the meeting was to share the activities of CBID Network and discuss further road map. Mr. Asim Zafar welcomed the participants for their valued presence and their commitment with CBID Network. The meeting was incepted with formal recitation form the Holy Quran. Mr. Shahnawaz Munami and Mr. Ghulam Nabi Nizamani facilitated the participants here in the meeting.
World Cerebral Palsy Day celebrated on 2nd Oct, 2013 at Islamabad. CBID Network celebrates World Cerebral Palsy Day on 2nd October, 2013 in collaboration with CHEF International and Helping Hand, the ceremony was observed in Al-Farabi Special Education Center, Islamabad where a large number of Children and Adults with Cerebral Palsy participated. The representatives from NGOs, INGOs and government officials attended the seminar where former DG Special Education Mr. Khalid Naeem and Present DG Special Education Ms. Ghayoor Sultana graced the occasion with their valued presence.
SEMINAR ON COMMUNITY BASED INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT & ELECTION of CBID KPK CHAPTER October, 25, 2013 at Special Education Complex Phase 5, Hayatabad, KPK The CBID KPK chapter election held On Friday 25 October, 2013 at special education complex Hayat Abad Peshawar. The services of ex-coordinator were terminated on the basis of his noncooperative attitude towards CBID & their members. In this meeting all the participants decided to dissolve the old cabinet which didn’t participate in the gathering and re-elect new body for the remaining duration. Total 22 DPOs and developmental organizations participated in the election process. Ms. Deena Naz (Parliament secretary social welfare department &member provincial assembly PKP) was the chief guest.
Seminar on Inclusion of person with disabilities and launching of CBID Baluchistan Chapter 6th November 2013 Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Network Pakistan was establishing its chapter as networking at provincial level since its birth. The Baluchistan chapter was long awaited. The Special Ones (TSO) took initiative and organized a seminar on “Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities at All Levels” on 6th November 2013, at Boys Scouts Head Quarter, Quetta, and Baluchistan. More than 70 participants from Government, Organizations of People with Disabilities, NGOs, CSOs, and Volunteers participated in the seminar from all over Baluchistan.
Meeting with Mr. Asif Saeed Manais Minister of Special Education, Punjab organized by Milestone Provincial coordinator for CBID Punjab The representatives from Milestone Society for the Special Persons (Provincial coordinator for CBID Punjab), Sakura Wheelchair Project and JIL (Japan Council on Independent Living Centers) had meeting with Mr. Asif Saeed Manais, Minister of Special Education on 16th August, 2013 where Mr. Fazil Cheema, Director General Special Education was also persons. The meeting was incepted in a formal introduction of participants. Mr. Asif Saeed Manais, Minister of Special Education paid regards to the foreign guests from Japan Ms. Naoko Nishio and Mr. Habib Ur Rahman.
Meeting with Ms. Robian Qaimkhani Minister for special education Sindh organized by DWA provincial Coordinator CBID Sindh Chapter Meeting with Ms. Robina Qaimkhani minister for special education Sindh Karachi held on 14 Dec 2013, to discuss with about to bring law on disability in Sindh. Mr. Lashari presented the resolution copy passed during seminar held on 3Rd Dec 2013.
Leadership Conference of Persons with Disability on Community based inclusive development (CBID) held 20-22 November 2013, Islamabad A three day “Leadership Conference of Persons with Disabilities on Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID)� was organized by the Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Network Pakistan, and the South Asian Disability Forum (SADF) in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan through the Ministry of Law, Justice & Human Rights, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Islamabad, World Health Organization (WHO) Islamabad, the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), the Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP) the Light for the World, the CHEF International, Sightsavers, the British Council Pakistan, HelpAge International, CBM & Telenor Pakistan held on 20-22 November 2013 at Margala Hotel, Islamabad, Pakistan.
CBID Network Executive Body Meeting held on 26th December, 2013 The CBID Executive Body conducted Meeting on 26th December, 2013 in Islamabad where National Coordinator and Provincial coordinators from all provinces were present and graced the occasion. The meeting incepted with formal Recitation from HOLY QURAN PAK by Dr. Shahnawaz Munami and welcome address as well.
