CMDCM CORNER With Command Master Chief Daniel Irwin Shipmates, I know most of our communication recently has been focused on COVID-19, which is still a serious situation, but this month I wanted to focus on a couple of other things that are important to mention. Many times in the military, we tend to focus more on the active duty member when it comes to deployments and the Navy. Yes this is a tough job, but I would like to take a moment to bring more attention to two other groups of people who sacrifice so much and that is our children and our spouses. Last month was the Month of the Military Child and this month, on May 8th was Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Our children and spouses have earned and deserve our thank you and appreciation for the sacrifices they endure as well. Having four children of my own and being married for over 20 years, I can speak first-hand on what our families
have to go through. The resiliency of our children and the strength of our spouses is something many people in the world do not have to face, but our families do it without question. So, I would like to say thank you to all the children and spouses who have to sacrifice so much and stand strong at home to allow us to serve our country and keep our sea lanes free for all! That’s it for this month. Thank you for all you do. Remember, if you have any questions, ASK THE CHIEF!
