(NP) Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, OCT 5 (NPN): A three-day Children Festival organized by Christian Education Department of Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Kukhakulu (WSBAK) on the theme “God reigns” culminates here at Thahekhu village, Dimapur, on Sunday evening. More than five thousands children from 95 villages of Western Sümi area participated in the three-day event. The speakers of the festival were Executive Secretary WSBAK, Rev. S Vitoshe Swu; Child Counselor DCPU, Tuensang, Husheli Rai; Secretary of Education and Communication Department NBCC Dr. Botoholi; and Secretary Christian Education Department, WSBAK, Y Vishiho Shohe. Exhorting congregation in the morning service of the concluding day, Khehovi Yeputho, Chairman WSBAK, said Christian education is fundamental not only for spiritual growth of children but also it gives a parallel platform to mould them to be better equipped in social context

of life. He said the children festival has been successful in bringing children together to celebrate and rejoice in the righteousness of Christ. Khehovi also enthused upon the children on the importance of one’s own language and cultural identity. Dr. Botoholi, Secretary, Education & Communication, NBCC was the speaker of the morning service while Rev. S. Vitoshe Swu, Executive Secretary, WSBAK was the speaker of the afternoon (concluding) service. Husheli Rai, Child Counsellor DCPU, Tuensang, and Y Vishiho Shohe, Secretary, Christian Education Department, WSBAK, also spoke during the festival. Praise and worship team of WSBAK led the congregation in music besides special number presentation by children of WSBAK mission centre and Hevishe BA. Skit was presented by SBA Padumpukhuri and SBA Purana Bazaar and the closing act was presented by Thahekhu BA. WSBAK Children Festival 2016 would be held at Shoxuvi village.

Correspondent ZUNHEBOTO, OCT 5 (NPN): A threeday 3rd Children Festival SBAK (Nito Mount) culminated here in a grand closing cum prize distribution ceremony at the Town Hall Zunheboto on Sunday. Held on the theme “Children- Best time with Jesus,” the three-day event witnessed several enthralling display of talents, skills and competition in the form of “Sumi traditional games & sports,” “Biblical and modern acts/arts,” “Dance and Choreography,” “Literary,” “Songs and musical extravaganza” and various other learning activities. Kalivi S Jimo, Child Evangelist, led the closing program which began with an invocation by Inakali, Associate Pastor Children (APC) Vekuho-New Baptist Church, followed by the Asukhomi Baptist Church’s special item presentation. Offertory prayer and “Words of Blessing and Prayers” was conducted by Rev Ahoto Awomi, Evangelist, and Tunakali, secretary Christian Education respectively. Tunakali further delivered the vote of thanks and administered the prize distribution. She extended gratitude to the executive secretary (ES) Rev S Yevito Sumi and all the SBAK Nito Mount staff; organizing board/committee; Sumi Bap-

tist Church Zbto (SBCZ) and the donors and prize sponsors. She also expressed gratitude to the medics; 5 AR Zunheboto; PHED & Power department; various NGOs/ associations for the halls; Asukhomi village; host families; light and sound technicians; stewards and volunteers; DSO Zunheboto; church leaders, Sunday School Supervisors/ Teachers and APCs. She finally thanked and lauded all the children delegates and participants. Altogether 14 towns and 41 villages consisting of more than 1600 children took part and competed in various events for last 3 days. In the Town level events/ competition SBCZ was declared winners followed by Satakha Town BC and Atoizu Town BC as 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. In the Village level title, the Talent Show competition was booked by a 12 years old boy drummer from the Aotsakili village followed by Khukiye of Lukhiye Village and Vekuho (New) village as the second and third winners respectively. Special presentation by Akuhaito Town Baptist Church and the Closing Act by Satakha Town BC were the other highlights of the valedictory service. The festival concluded with Shekheto Swu, Pastor Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto (SBCZ), who said the benediction.

Sangtam tribe completes community learning programme Dimapur, Oct 5: As part of the ongoing series of tribal community learning proogramme designed by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), the thirteenth group consisting three resource persons and twenty five students from the Sangtam community have successfully completed the training programme on October 5. The programme was initiated to address the challenges posed by the advent of modernity and the resultant impact created in the society, especially on the urban youth. ESSH denounces killing Dimapur: Eastern Sumi Sub-Hoho (ESSH) condemned the killing of Athennu Yimchunger, Leacy FGN Yimchunger Region of Mimi village who was shot dead at Longya ward, Kiphiri town by an unknown miscreant. Its chairman Zheito Aye and secretary Khehoto T. Yepthomi in a release denounced the act of violence and bloodshed disrupting peace and harmony of the people living in the area by an individual or by group, creating fear psycho among the general public. It has urged the concerned authority to investigate the case and book the culprit at the earliest and award befitting punishment as per the law.

DIMAPUR, OCT 5: Along with the rest of the world, International Day for Older Persons was observed on October 1 at VDB hall, Zunheboto, organized by Senior Citizens Forum, Zunheboto district unit, with CLP leader Tokheho Yepthomi as the chief guest. Greeting the older people on the occasion, Tokheho said that long life was a God’s gift towards the people who nurtures his love. He also recalled the culture of love and respect for the elderly people which was nurtured by forefathers. He urged the gathering to teach the upcoming generation the moral values in extending love and respect for the old and aged people. Lamenting on the slowly diminishing work culture in the Naga society, he said both government sector and general public are equally responsible. He has attributed loss of work culture in the Naga society to untruthfulness, lack of transparency and looking for easy money. CLP leader further highlighted about benefits

He called upon the government for early implementation of the same in the state as well. District Welfare Officer, Atoli K Achumi, in her address, said Zunheboto district has at least 350 people who are above 80 years. She further requested the gathering to spread information to give reports to the department if there are eligible people who have not been identified. She also informed on department programme to categorise the passbook of pensioner’s i.e, 60-80 years and 80-90 years of age.

ABCC young fathers’ brigade gets underway

Dimapur, Oct 5: About 700 hundred young Angami Baptist fathers including officials of Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC) are undergoing Young Fathers’ Brigade at Seithekema ‘A’, Dimapur. The Men’s department of Angami Baptist Church Counci(ABCC) Young Fathers’ Brigade at Seithekema ‘A’, Dimapur, on the theme “Build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10) began on October 2 and would culminate on October 6. The Brigade on October 2 began with a lighting of candle by Yakieu Khro and greetings by Daso Paphino. Dimapur, Oct 5: The book, ‘Gift in the pot- earth poetry’ by J Longkumer, was released on October 4 at Book Marc by Dr. Temsula Ao, Chairperson of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW). The programme, chaired by Ms. Meribeni Ngully, began with an invocation by Limawapang Changkiri followed by speeches from the publisher Dr. Lanusangla Tzudir and the author of the book Dr. J Longkumer. Reading of the poems was done by Josephine Changkija after which the book was officially released by Dr. Temsula Ao. Ms. Meribeni Ngully, in her opening remarks, spoke about her association with the author’s poetry and highlighted the simplicity and honesty of her poems which has a deep connection with life. Dr. Lanusangla Tzudir, Proprietor, Publisher & Chief Editor of Heritage Publishing House, spoke about the book as a celebration of one of the ageless inheritance from our ancestors adding that the book is a reminder of the wonderful craft of pottery which has been serving as the functional purpose and essence of our everyday life and living and for which we owe a lot to the ‘potter’ and the ‘clay.’ Further, she said that the book is a rich tribute to the unsung heroes – the womenfolk, who, over the ages have tirelessly engaged with the ‘earth’ in keeping this knowledge of culture alive.
