DBS Sechü holds felicitation prog DIMAPUR: Don Bosco School (DBS), Sechü Zubza, has organized the 25th teaching anniversary felicitation programme of Pelelhoubei Abraham on October 1 at DBS Sechü Zubza. At the felicitation programme, first rector of school Fr. CT Verhgase spoke about the importance of three Cs in life that includes commitment, cheerfulness and compassion. Speaking on the occasion, jubilant Pelelhoubei Abraham expressed gratitude to school authority for organizing the programme. He encouraged the students to go forward and to know love and help one another. Special numbers and dances were presented by the students. Altogether, 100 alumni from the school attended the programme.

on Cell meeting and while Teisovi Gerard Meyase spoke on ‘ Young and Beautiful’. On the culminating day, Rev. James Thoppil, Bishop of Nagaland, celebrated Holy Eucharist for the participants. Jimmy Padang, national president, YCS/YSM, and Kasizhiini Helen, North-East Regional Youth President, NERYC, and Sr Annie, YCS Animator, Arunachal Pradesh, were also present for the convention. In the debate competition, Vinivi Achumi (Carmel HS School, Dimapur) bagged the 1st prize while Chütonü B (St John School, Kohima) was 2nd while the 3rd position was bagged by Roshan (St Xavier’s HS School, Meluri). In the cultural competition, the 1st prize was bagged by St. Joseph HS School, Chumukedima, 2nd by Christ King HS School, Kohima, and 3rd by Nazareth School, Pfütsero. YCS in just a period of one year, the movement has reached to over 500 young people from over 24 schools in Nagaland with Neisevonuo Anna as coordinator, YCS Nagaland. Some of the activities of YCS are cell meeting, cleanliness drive, sales day, observation of world environment day, social work, observation of charity day, summer camp etc.

17th convocation of IIICS held at TBC DIMAPUR: 17th convocation of Indian Institute of Inter-Cultural Studies (IIICS) was held on September 26 at Thilixu Baptist Church, where about 108 students from all over India received their certificates for various programmes in persons. The service was led by associate director, IIICS, Jude, while the key note address was given by Rev. Dr. Jayakumar, director, IIICS. Rev. Dr. P. Dozo introduced the programme dignitaries and welcomed the graduates and the audience while also extending appreciation to the hosting Church. The convocation address was given by Rev. P. Bonny Resu, general secretary, Asia Pacific Baptist Federation (APBF) while the speaker exhorted the graduating class to be fully committed and dedicated to the service of God and man. Special song was presented by Withee Bible College Choir. The “value of your degrees” was given by Dr. K. Rajendran, associate director, WEA-Mission Commission and special commissioning prayer was offered for the graduates by Dr. Girish Khatri. Benediction was offered by Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi, senior pastor, Thilixu Baptist Church. It may be mentioned that the 17th IIICS convocation was hosted by the IIM affiliated colleges in Nagaland and Manipur.

Organisations denounce Kiphire killing TUENSANG: Public Forum Pungro Sub- Division (PFPSD) and GBs Union Pungro SubDivision (GBUPSD) have vehemently condemned the “cold blooded murder” of Athrenu, leacy speaker FGN Yimchungru region, by an unknown miscreant at Kiphire September 29. In a joint press release, PFPSD president S. Kiusumew Yimchungru and GBUPSD president Musumong GBUPSD stated that all the factions have denied their involvement in the killing of Athrenu, when they enquired. The two bodies have warned that they would take stern action as ‘personal case’ if those perpetrators were found. They also said such kind of ‘barbaric and uncivilized’ act was detrimental to ‘peace and reconciliation’. PFPSD and GBUPSD said such ‘unacceptable, unjustifiable and unbearable’ act occurred at the time when the Nagas were yearning for peaceful solution. Meanwhile, the two bodies have conveyed condolences to the bereaved family member and prayed God grant eternal rest to the departed soul and solace to the bereaved family. NPF Molongmika range:

Naga People’s Front (NPF) Molongmika (Mimi) Range has vehemently condemned the killing of Athrennu (Mimi village), Leacy Speaker of FGN Yimchunger Region and son of Rupentsu 2nd GB and former NPF village Unit Treasurer, at Longya Ward, in Kiphire on September 29 without any rhyme and reasons. While Kiphire district has been declared as “Peace Zone,” searching in the house with attempt to kill Naga brothers and shedding blood is against the peace process, the unit president C Sangmuh said in a press release. The party has appealed to all civil societies, GBs, tribal hohos, CBOs, and right thinking citizens to condemn such act. It further requested the higher authority both the district administration/ police department in Kiphire to book the culprits and take necessary steps without any further delay. In a separate statement, the Mimi Students’ Union has strongly condemned the September 29 incident where Athrenu, Leacy Speaker FGN and son of Rupentsu, GB of Mimi village, was shot dead by unknown miscreants near his residence at Longya Ward,

Kiphire town. The Union general secretary, Nuheymong, has called upon every right thinking citizen to condemn such indiscriminate killing when Nagas are prayerfully fighting for peace and harmony in the society. The Union has also urged the responsible authority to investigate the case at the earliest and leave no stone unturned to nab the culprit and award punishment as per the law. In yet another statement, the Mimi Joint Council has condemned the killing of Athrenu which had come at the time when the Nagas are yearning for permanent peace. The council president Azho Paul and the secretary Kamtsu, while stating that killing our own brethren won’t bring any solution, urged to discard the barbaric act and maintain peaceful atmosphere. The council has urged the law enforcing agency to book the culprit at the earliest and award befitting punishment according to the law. It has further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty God to grant peace and comfort in their time of grief and sorrow.

Organizations condemn Wokha blast incident

Dimapur: Mon Town Students’ Union (MTSU), along with district administration, police, dobashis, and Konyak Students’ Union (KSU), has destroyed seized expiry items and contraband intoxicants on October 3. The seizure

was made during August and September at Mon. During the months, Mon Town Student’s Union (MTSU) conducted surprise checking at Mon town and seized huge quantity of expired goods from the shops. They also conducted

checking on the flow of liquors within the town. The destroyed items included 232 bottles of Rum, 11 bottles of Whisky, 53 Cans of beer, 35 piece of opium and expired goods from the shops.

Old Riphyim Students’ Union (ORSU) vehemently condemning the bomb blast incident stated that it was an attempted of assassination on William Patton and his family by “some savage miscreants”. Khel Youth Forum condemning the incident also said the act by unknown miscreant was an attempt to “murder the whole family”. Youth Forum appealed to the responsible authority to investigate and nab those responsible and award exemplary punishment as per the law.

SVC welcomes two-lane project in Kiphire district

KIPHIRE: Singrep village council (SCV) while welcoming the proposed construction of two-lane National Highway -202 passing through Kiphire district has unanimously decided to extends fullest cooperation to the department for the project. This was decided at a meeting held September 20, which was in subsequent to consultative meeting held on August 26 at Hopongkyu Memorial hall Kiphire for construction of twolane NH 202 passing Kiphire district. In a letter addressed to the deputy commissioner (DC) Kiphire, the SVC appealed to the government to compensate the affected landowners before executing the work. It also appealed judicious execution of work at the earliest possible time. SVC also warned that any individual/organization hindering the project within its jurisdiction would be dealt seriously.

GPRN/NSCN ESFA launches prog for children CBCMHK fathers’ camp culminates sub-region 2nd anniversary

DIMAPUR: A three-day fathers’ camp of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers’ Hill Kohima (CBCMHK), which was held at Government High School, Khonoma, from October 3 to 5 on the theme “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God”, culminated on October 5. According to the camp officials, the three-day programme featured worship service, interactive sessions, recreational activities etc.

The camp speakers included Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, pastor, CBCMHK, Rev. Thepupa Swuro, headmaster, Daeshin Academy, Dimapur, and Wepre Mero, associate pastor, CBCMHK, while Kudecho Khamo, chairman, EDA, Veta Nienu, assistant professor, KSCJ and Dr. Vinotsole Dzudo, HoD Pathology, NHAK, were the resource persons of the camp who dwelt on the topics ‘Financial sufficiency and its manage-

ment’, ‘nurturing children with quality education’ and ‘healthy family through proper health care’ respectively. The campers were divided into four groups -Abraham, Job, Nehemiah and Jeremiah. Meanwhile following were the results of the group competition in the recreational events: Volley ball- Champion: Job, Runners up: Abraham; Tug of war- Champion: Nehemiah, Runners up: Abraham;

Nehemiah was awarded as the group champion of the camp. The organizers has expressed gratitude to the entire campers, prayer warriors, church workers, well wishers for the unflinching cooperation. Further, they thanked Headmaster and staffs of GHS, Khonoma, Village Council and church authority of Khonoma for providing the place for the the camp and prayed Almighty bless them abundantly.

DIMAPUR: GPRN/NSCN Northern Sumi sub-region (NSSR) celebrated its 2nd anniversary in commemoration of completing its establishment. According to a press release, NSSR during the function extended gratitude to GPRN/NSCN president Khole Konyak, Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi and colleagues for their assistance towards NSSR activities in the region. The sub-region also thanked each and every individual within the jurisdiction for their support and co-operation. The programme was also attended by Kilonser Shevukhu I Chishi, deputy Killonser Hekiye Swu and Tatar RAO exhorting the gathering at the meeting. Meanwhile, NGOs and region have resolved to abide “government norms” in every aspect in order to maintain the image of GPRN/NSCN.
