Correspondent KOHIMA: A four-day India Mission Summit (IMS), which began October 2 at NBCC Convention Hall, Kohima on the theme “celebrating the past, envisioning the future” came to an end October 5. The summit was organized by American Baptist International Ministries and hosted by Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), on behalf of the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI). O ve r 7 0 0 d e l e g a t e s from Bengal-Orissa-Bihar, the Northeast and South India and the US attended the grand opening service of the 200 years of American Baptist International Ministries. Delivering sermon during the Sunday devotional service, Rev. T.A Prabhu Kiran spoke about the miracles that Jesus did on the centurion’s servant and the widow’s son. Referring to the Gospel of Luke 7:1-10, Rev.Kiran said it was one’s faith that would feel God’s healing touch. He said “Jesus amazes us with his love, mercy, miracles and faithfulness” while maintaining that the faith of the cen-
eration of missionaries in India and would be thankful to them for their sacrifices. Earlier, the chairman Vevo Phesao officiated special prayer session for the state government, bureaucrats and heads of departments. The programme witnessed special songs by the Summit choir, Elizabeth Imti and others while scripture reading and prayer was pronounced by Rev. Wanglong Simai. Thousands of believers including legislative members and others attended the devotional service.

DIMAPUR: Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC) Young Fathers’ Brigade, which got underway at Seithekema ‘A’ Baptist Church October 2, concluded October 6. A closing ceremony was held where the brigade flag was pulled down by the brigade director general Daso Paphino and six company flags in full uniform as Christian soldiers with affirmation
of the Brigade theme: “Build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power” Ephesians 6:10. A few resolutions were adopted during the Brigade such as: every young father with God’s mighty power would build their family in union with the Lord and would serve Him and to support the stand of NBCC in
NMH Colony directs residents DIMAPUR: New Ministers’ Hill Colony, Kohima, at the general meeting on September 28, held at the Panchayat, has reaffirmed to stand by its earlier order dated October 22, 2012. In its resolution, the Colony has restricted throwing of sewage in the nullahs, while defaulters would be imposed a fine of Rs 500. It said discharge of septic tanks in nullahs before 11 p.m. would be fined with Rs 1000. It also resolved to chain/ fence domestic dogs at homes, while if found
loitering would be caught/ killed for which the owners would have no claims whatsoever. It has also banned use of alcohol and other intoxicants in an around View Point near Little Flower Higher Secondary School. Further, it resolved that no vehicle would be allowed to park near the View Point after 8:30 p.m. It cautioned that defaulters would be seriously dealt with. This was stated in a statement issued by the Colony chairman Neibo-o Kire.
HASSU supports SN movement
DIMAPUR: Highway Area Sumi Student s’ Union (HASSU) has appreciated the bold and visionary mission initiate by the “Survival Nagaland” to safeguard and conserve the interest of the Nagas from unabated inflow of outsiders into Nagaland, particularly IBIs “which has rendered multiple adverse impact to the original Nagas socially, politically and economically.” It expressed apprehension that with the passage of time, indigenous Nagas would be directly or indirectly displaced from all sorts of prerogatives in our own land. The HASSU has expressed serious concern where innocent Nagas were victimized in the hands of outsiders. It said Survival Nagaland, “a group of like-minded Naga intellectuals”, has come at an opportune time to awaken Nagas from uncertainty. DRFCB reaffirms to conserve Dhansiri DIMAPUR: A joint meeting of Dhansiri River Flood Control Board (DRFCB) and Sand, Sand gravel and boulder Mahal Owners was held October 4 at the office chamber of DRFCB. At the meeting, DRFCB chairman Hokheto Kiba highlighted on the work activities of DRFCB, saying it was to protect and preserve the Dhansiri river and its tributaries. Some representatives of the sand mahal owners assured the board to cooperate and support DRFCB in protecting and preserving the Dhansiri river and its tributaries. Darogajan village chairman Vitokhu Achumi appreciated the efforts of the DRFCB and advised the board to take initiative on shifting the DMC garbage dumping site, which was causing the air and water pollution in the entire surrounding villages and colonies. Representative of sand mahal owners Akashe Chophy also said waste emitting from the distillery at Khatkati, Assam, was polluting the Dhansiri river and posing hazard to aquatic and human lives.
