r. Khrielieü Kire (12 January, 1918 - 11 September, 2013) the first Naga lady Doctor, fondly known by the name Dr. K.K. Angami, was a Naga bureaucrat and a great, if not the greatest philanthropist of her time.
Christianity in Nagaland will be 150 years in December 2022 and to commemorate the event, the Ao Baptist Arogo Mundang (ABAM) the apex Baptist church association of the Aos and the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) apex church body in the state, are organising various programmes which will culminate in November 2022. Various activities of the NBCC will culminate on November 19-20,2022 in Kohima. ABAM’s main feature, the ‘Gospel Torch’ has a more ambitious goal where the torch will travel to Molungyimsen, Mokokchung town, Clark Theological College, Alichen, Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Kohima, Dimapur Ao Baptist Church, Siliguri and several other Indian cities before culminating in Delhi for the Youth Festival towards the end of October. The flame of Christianity to Nagas was first lit by Rev. Miles Bronson, along with Assamese convert Godhula during 1842-1852. Rev,Bronson preached the Gospel and also the art of cultivating tea to Nagas he came into contact with. Then Bronson opened a school at Namsang in the Konyak area in the border of Assam. On September 12, 1847 Hube, a Konyak Naga, was baptized by Nathan Brown as the first Naga convert. He however died shortly after his baptism on October 10, 1847. After couple of years Longjanglepzük the first Ao Naga convert from Merangkong village was baptized on September 7, 1851 by Rev. S. W. Witting and became a member of Sibsagar Baptist Church. However, Longjanglepzuk on return to Mernagkong was killed during a raid by a group of villagers. The seed of the Gospel took a definitive turn when Supongmeren from Molungkimong (Deka Haimong in Assamese) was baptised by Dr.Clark, through an Assamese evangelist Godhula Miles Brown in 1871. The year 1872 came to be recognised as the period when Christianity came to the Naga Hills, when Dr Clark and his team went to the village where 15 new converts were added and the church established sometime during December 1872. Dr. Clark along with a few families including both converts and non-converts – then founded a new village, Molungyimsen in 1876. Two years later, in 1878, a school was set up in Molungyimsen by Mary Mead Clark. Then on Dr Clark went to Impur to start a mission in 1894. The seed of the gospel, planted by dedicated missionaries like Dr.Clark, Rivenburg etc have borne much fruit in terms of education and all-round progress. Today, out of a population of 19, 78,502, as per the 2011 census, there are 87.93% Christians in Nagaland. The 2011 census recorded the state’s total Christian population at 17, 40,000, making it, with Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram, making four, Christianmajority states in India. As per reports, ABAM has 166 churches, 10 fellowships and 1, 24,697 baptised members. Along with ABAM, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) with its 20 constituent member associations, 4 associate members, 1710 churches and 7,22,781 baptised members (NBCC 85th Annual Council Report, 2022). Both ABAM and NBCC along with various other church organisations will be looking beyond the 150 years of Christianity and do a check list on what needs to be focussed, refocused or recommitted in order to fulfil the visions of the founding fathers who took over the mantle from the early missionaries.

ome say that to do ‘good’ to the society, one should join politics, while others without power and authority say that one cannot do any good and so politics is the channel to do good. However, George Bernard Shaw said “Politics is surely the last resort for the scoundrel.” Nonetheless, polis is all about governance which ought to be based on ethical values. And so, ethics and values are the core principles that ought to govern politics, but in reality, it is money that augurs power which in turn influences politics. Governance should be the determining factor, instead money determines politics. Everyday we come across all kinds of scams.Wecome across how money lures those who govern and how leaders swindle money in millions and flee the countries and those who are indicted face punitive punishments. Recent statement by Rajnath Singh, the defence minister exhorted BJP is “a party with difference, while others are party with differences.” I thought that he was referring to honest dealing in money matters, instead within BJP there are no internal differences, while all other parties have internal conflicts. So, all political parties have fault lines when it comes to money matters.
The maxim the politicians invoke: “Democracy is of the people, by the people and for the people” has lost its relevance as democratically elected representatives switch sides for money and power. Nowadays defections and betrayals are so common in India’s polity. It is said that people are at the centre of any democratic process, but what we have been witnessing now is once the elections get over and governments are formed the people who brought them to power not part of any initiative. The electorates in democracy remain as mere vote bank, not as active participants. Once in five years
Green jobs can be in sectors perceived to be non-green like manufacturing, mining or IT services. United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) defines green jobs as ‘positions in agriculture, manufacturing, R&D, administrative, and service activities to substantially preserve or restore environmental quality. Green jobs can be found in business, non-profit organizations, government, and education. Small business, self-employment and entrepreneurship are integral to green economy.Thepandemic led us to reimagine the way we work and the digital economy took centre stage. The growing awareness among new-age consumers of businesses’ impact on the environment has led to a rise in the demand for professionals who have skills to create green processes and technologies. Creating green jobs will benefit circular economy which encourages reusing, repairing, recycling and increasing sustainable manufacturing and consumption.

A private relationship of worshiping God is the greatest essential element of spiritual fitness. The time will come, as Nathanael experienced in this passage, that a private “fig-tree” life will no longer be possible. Everything will be out in the open, and you will find yourself to be of no value there if you have not been worshiping in everyday occasions in your own home. If your worship is right in your private relationship with God, then when He sets you free, you will be ready. It is in the unseen life, which only God saw, that you have become perfectly fit. And when the strain of the crisis comes, you can be relied upon by God.
God’s training ground, where the missionary weapons are found, is the hidden, personal, worshiping life of the saint.

This is why we have a catch that comes handy to the citizens. Nowadays we keep reiterating that protests and resistance are part of democracy. We should see to the very fact that money should never be allowed to dictate democracy. If money is allowed to take credence over people, then money will be at the center of democracy, displacing people. This is what happening currently in India. Corruption in all forms has crept into all aspects and organs of Indian society. It should be fixed within the constitutional means and methods. People who are the stakeholders of democracy should be reached and be made aware of and be prepared for nonviolent civil disobedience.

Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) towards a TB-Mukt Bharat

As one nation, together, we hope to leverage this principle of collective action and people’s participation towards achieving our goal of a TBMukt Bharat. When the world set for itself 2030 as the global target for TB elimination, our Hon’ble Prime Minister set an ambitious goal of making India TB-free by 2025, five years ahead of the global target. This has been completely driven and encouraged by his belief in our country’s spirit of collective action and contribution. It is towards achieving this ambitious target that the Government of India initiated the Ni-Kshay Poshan scheme, under the aegis of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP). Under this scheme, between 2018 and June 2022, 62.71 lakh persons affected with TB have received a total financial support of Rupees 1,651 crores. This includes transfer of Rupees 500, through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), directly into

I truly believe, that encouraged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas Aur Sabka Prayas’ each one of us will come together and join this Jan Andolan to serve humanity and make India TB-free by 2025.TB Harega, Desh Jeetega! It is noteworthy that the Government of India provides free diagnosis, free medicines and other kinds of support to persons with TB. However, I believe that your support and collective action will provide an unprecedented energy and vigour as we move towards our goal of a TB-Mukt Bharat.
It is my earnest appeal to you to come forward and actively support this mission so that we can truly realise our vision forth is Jan Andolan. Please come forward and do your bit towards the nation’s collective battle against TB.Like we are fighting COVID-19 with grit and determination, we will likewise fight and win our collective battle against TB.

When you were under the fig tree, I saw you. —John 1:48 Worshiping in Everyday Occasions. We presume that we would be ready for battle if confronted with a great crisis, but it is not the crisis that builds something within us— it simply reveals what we are made of already. Do you find yourself saying, “If God calls me to battle, of course I will rise to the occasion”? Yet you won’t rise to the occasion unless you have done so on God’s training ground. If you are not doing the task that is closest to you now, which God has engineered into your life, when the crisis comes, instead of being fit for battle, you will be revealed as being unfit. Crises always reveal a person’s true character.
Vested interests are at work in multiple ways. Money is at play for entrepreneurial and political interests. It is deeply soaked in the system. Corruption in India is systematic and has pervaded into all the organs of the Indian society.
In India, no political party is above board when it comes to transparency and accountability. Every political party is soaked and entrenched in corruption. Political parties of all shades and ideologies are tainted with corruption. In recent times increasingly we across scams of all sorts that covers areas of governance both at the Centre as well as the state governments. The scams run to several lakh crores.

Hon’ble Prime Minister has an irrefutable belief in the role of Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) towards building a prosperous nation. So can we capitalise on this wave of collective strength and unity, towards a New India that is TB-free by 2025? Even a small, seemingly insignificant contribution by every individual ignites a Jan Andolan (people’s movement). Success is usually almost always fully guaranteed when the government and citizens of the country come together for a common mission. The Swachh Bharat Mission, Covid-19 vaccination drive and the recently concluded ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign are stellar examples of the same.

people are remembered and shower with promises that’s it Democracy has come to just elections and numbers. Whichever party controls more money wins. In such a setting election are just farcical exercise. The humanity is facing the worst existential crisis. The citizens and electorates in democracies live on the cliffedge. The political and economic landscapes need to change by all means. There should be a total overhauling in our political and industrial complex. India’s parliamentary democracy is currently reduced to just number game. Those who represent these numbers have forgotten the faces that elected them. In functioning democracy people are the mainstay, not thePeoplesidewalk.arenaturally enjoined with emotion, reason, sensibilities, resolve and resilience. Electorates know who to vote and who to be voted out. Their perceptions on polity are intriguing while electing state and central governments. They are engines who actually the drive democracy, subjects of history and makers of their destiny. Electorates can understand the swings, defections, poaching and toppling for money and power that have become common features of our democracy. The ways the elected representative and the governments switch over sides for vested interests manifests the fragile side of our democratic process.Power is bestowed to the people in a democratic constitutional framework. Constitutional provisions including our democratic ethos revolves around the maxim: “for the people, by the people and to the people.” This is why when people exert their voice in unison, it is called as ‘peoples’ power’. Peoples’ power is the only one major determining factor that holds the key when all the constitutional rights extended to the citizens are usurped or negated. Citizens know well when to come together. Collective memory of people suddenly erupts and none can stop.Unable to bear corruption and money laundering and authoritarian rule there have been number of instances that occurred within the country as well as outside how people went on mass uprisal. Governments should not take peoples’ tolerance for granted. Government at the Centre is talking about for corruption there’s ‘zero tolerance’, but corruption manifests at all levels of human activities. When citizens lose their patience, then they will go all out for protests. Protests and resistance are considered as last resort so to mass protests and resistance.
