Demands immediate ‘recall for recasting of PMJVK scheme’ submitted to Centre district-wise submission of PMJVK schemes but as “additional proposals from the state”. CNTC said this district-wise submission of PMJVK schemes was only an “after thought action of the state government”. CNTC pointed out that, since the last date for submission of proposals to the Centre was August 6, 2022, it was practically impossible to prepare schemes within such a limited period. It said the procedure required approval of Block Level Committee (BLC) and District-Level Committee as per para 2.1.1. of PMJVK
PATNA, AUG 10 (PTI): Nitish Kumar on Wednesday was sworn in as Bihar’s chief minister a day after quitting – ostensibly over a row with coalition partner BJP – and will now govern in alliance with his former rivals in RJD and Congress. His deputy and RJD’s leader Tejashwi Yadav was the only other minister sworn in by Governor Phagu Chauhan, in a no-frills ceremony at Raj Bhavan here as lists of ministers to be nominated by parties in the coalition and their berths were yet to be finalised. Kumar who heads JD(U) took oath for a record eighth time, as head
In the light of the above, CNTC therefore termed the July 26 notification for inclusion of the remaining 12 districts as “a mockery and after thought of the chief minister as the documents of the four districts which have been allocated PMJVK schemes have already reached Delhi.” In this regard CNTC demanded to know on what basis will the remaining 12 districts get funds under PMJVK when the matter has already been finalized. The council also questioned why two areasCNTC and ENPO- have

KTC condemns firing incident at ITC Dan D I M A P U R , AU G 1 0 (NPN): Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) has strongly condemned the firing incident that occurred at ITC Dan on August 9, 2022. In a press release, KTC president M Thangou and general secretary NSM Pakhiu said that the members of the Khiamniungan community were peace-loving citizens, but “some insurgent groups” were, on many occasions, trying to create fear psychosis and tension in the region. Asking the responsible groups not to make Khiamniungan land a battle field
always been “ignored in all developmental fronts”? Meanwhile, CNTC has clarified that it was not against any tribe of community or against development activities in the state but “was fighting for what was their due share and that funds should be equally distributed district-wise”. It may be recalled that Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla, during his visit to Nagaland on May 7, had informed chief minister Neiphiu Rio that under the new guidelines, the tribal populations in all districts in Nagaland would be covered under ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram’ (PMJVK) brought out by the Ministry. Further, drawing attention to the circulations on social and print media on the proposals submitted to the government of India under PMJVK 2023,

D I M A P U R , AU G 1 0 (NPN): Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) comprising of Ao, Lotha and Sumi communities, has demanded immediate “recall for recasting of PMJVK scheme” submitted to the Central government by the State Level Committee, since only four out of the 16 districts were included in the scheme and warned that failure to meet with its demands will compel them to call for a mass agitation. CNTC, through its media cell, expressed disappointment at the allocation of the scheme for 2022-2023 in the State, pointing out that only four districts– Dimapur, Kohima, Chümoukedima and Niuland– were approved by the State government while the remaining districts were left out. It therefore demanded that chief minister Neiphiu Rio recall and recast the allocation of entire scheme. CNTC said after its

specially ITC Dan, the KTC said Khiamniungans cannot be a silent spectator if such fighting keeps happening in their land. Stating that their tolerance level has already crossed the limit, the KTC appealed to the responsible “insurgent group” not target their land only for firing and use it as battle field. KTC asserted that Khiamniungans instead need peace and development in the district. Therefore, KTC has appealed to both the Indian army and the Naga insurgent group to restrain from engaging in gun battle in Noklak district.

Leaders of BJP, which is the second largest party in the assembly with 77 MLAs, were conspicuous by their absence at the swearing-in ceremony. Kumar has given in a list of 164 MLAs who support him to the Governor including his party’s 46 MLAs (45 party MLAs and 1 Ind), RJD’s 79 MLAs and Congress’s 19. D I M A P U R , AU G 1 0 (NPN): NDPP president Chingwang Konyak in statement on Wednesday categorically stated all legislators were firmly committed to solution, but resignation en bloc will only be after an agreement is signed and not before, in order to pave way for any arrangement. He, therefore, asserted there was no question of resignation of MLAs prior to a final agreement on the Naga political issue. Chingwang pointed out that the State government and political parties of Nagaland were not the contending parties– Government of India (GoI) and various groups of Naga national workers being the contending parties. He said that right from 1964, after the first Assembly election in the State, political parties’ stand had

been to work for solution of the vexed Naga political issue and bring the contending parties to negotiating table. He said the political also declared that they would not stand in the way for solution of the issue, besides promising in their respective manifestos that as and when the agreement was signed for a final solution, the elected members of Nagaland Legislative would pay the way for implementations of the agreement. Therefore, he said the question of resignation of MLAs without an agreement for a final solution did not arise. Chingwang claimed that the creation of Nagaland on December 1, 1963 was a clear indication of government of India’s desire to solve the Naga political issue and usher in peace and prosperity in the region. Thus, the Naga people were
given the power, responsibility and opportunity to govern their own affairs, he added. He recalled that for the first time in the history of Nagas, a responsible and popular government was formed by Nagaland Nationalist Organisation (NNO) in January 1964. Since then, he mentioned that successive State governments has set upon themselves the task of running responsible administration with firm determination to solve the Naga political issue and bring peace and development to Nagaland. According to him, the immediate and supreme task for the State government was to put an end to hostilities and uncertainties by creating goodwill among the people and restore normal condition in the State. TNR releases ‘roadmap’ for Naga political issue Staff Reporter
DIMAPUR, AUG 10 (NPN): The Naga Rising (TNR) on Wednesday released “Roadmap to a peaceful, honorable and early solution” with the hope that it would serve as a way forward in taking the process to its logical conclusion. Speaking at the release programme at Hotel Saramati here, TNR convener Along Longkumer stated that modern challenges confronting Naga people could only be resolved through a broad-based inclusive framework and peaceful means. He said

that Nagas were now confronted by the confusion and dilemma with two parallel agreements, which has further polarized the Nagas. Longkumer also said that Nagas have become restless and were now losing faith in the long-drawn peace process of 25 years.
With the hope to pave a way forward, he said TNR, in its motive to find answers, had come up with the “Roadmap to a peaceful, honorable and early solution”. TNR convenor, however, maintained that the roadmap was not a unilateral document to benefit
only one side, party or faction. He said that the roadmap was a unifying draft that could have positive impact on present peace process. Further, Longkumer said that TNR’s initiative should be seen not as contradictory, but as complementary to the resolve of the Naga public for early and inclusive solution. He said TNR acknowledged, supported and respected the different public initiatives, movements, platforms and voices working for peace, unity, reconciliation, and resolution of the Naga political issue. Manipur Congress alleges police obstructed its ‘Gaurav Yatra’
Correspondent
IMPHAL, AUG 10: Police on Wednesday obstructed a march with national flag by Congress leaders and workers as a part of its Gaurav Yatra in Manipur’s Bishnupur district. “It is unfortunate that police obstructed us from carrying out the march. This is disrespect of the national flag,” said MPCC president K Meghachandra, in a video uploaded to MPCC Facebook page. He asked the reason behind the police obstructing the Congress, saying that the march was a part of celebration of the country’s 75 years of independence. The Gaurav Yatra of the MPCC on Wednesday marched from Moirang to Oinam Bazar in Bishnupur district. The Congress organized the yatra to mark the completion of 75 years of India’s independence. Like in other states of the country, the Congress will cover 75 km in the state too. The march, participated by hundreds of MPCC leaders and workers, kicked

MPCC president K Meghachandra and many other leaders of the MPCC, including Congress MLAs, took part in the march while former chief minister O Ibobi Singh and CWC member Gaikhangam took part in offering floral tribute to the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. MPCC president K Meghachandra said that the Gaurav Yatra was being organized to pay tributes to
freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the freedom struggle. “We are remembering the sacrifices they made for the freedom of the nation,” he said. The march, started today, will reach out nooks and corners of the state. The Congress will also hear the sufferings of the people due to the rapid hike in the prices of the essential commodities under the BJP government and the additional burden on their heads due to increase of the GST (Goods and Service Tax).

BJP mulls organisational Border talks: Assam, Mizoram CMs to meet in Aug or Sept Meghalaya court remands BJP leader to 14-day judicial custody changes in Meghalaya
Ernest Mawrie
Correspondent SHILLONG,AUG 10 :Ahead of the 2023 Meghalaya assembly election, the Bharatiya Janata Party has decided restructure its party machine by bringing about organisational changes at all levels, state party president Ernest Mawrie said on Wednesday. The decision to restructure the organisation right from state office bearers to district and all mandals is significant in the wake of some non-BJP legislators expressing their desire to contest the 2023 assembly election on a BJP ticket. “The party will try to achieve booth level organization in near about 20 plus constituencies where the winning stake is high by the end of September. The state election committee will be notified at the
earliest. Reports of MLAs joining us will be welcomed and we shall ensure 5-10 sitting MLAs will join us by November,” Mawrie said. “There are 5-6 aspiring candidates in some constituencies with whom we are trying to strike a formula in which all candidates will work together for the party. Those, whose survey report is good, will get the ticket. If needed we will soon restructure the organizational set-up in all mandals,” he further said. Mawrie said the BJP party will take a decision after getting a report from booth level ‘sashaktikaran abhiyan’ committee. In some of the cases where an aspiring candidate or sitting MLA from another party is keen on joining BJP, Mawrie said, “we will advise our party karyakartas to join the aspiring candidate.” The party will ensure that the procedure for full organisational restructuring will be completed by this month and the state election committee will scrutinise all the requirements as per the constitutional mandate of the party.”
GUWAHATI, AUG 10 (AGENCIES) : The chief ministers of Assam and Mizoram are likely to meet in New Delhi to discuss the inter-state boundary issues between the two states later this month or early September, reports Shillong Times. This was conveyed to mediapersons in Aizawl by Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga after a “courtesy” meeting with a delegation of Assam ministers on Wednesday. “We are likely to meet in New Delhi later this month or in the beginning of September. But before I go to Delhi, I will inform Assam chief minister Himanta ji,” Zoramthanga said, while reiterating that building of faith and trust between the two states “is important to take the border resolution process forward in an amicable manner.” It may be mentioned that Assam Cabinet ministers Atul Bora and Ashok Singhal had called on Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga and discussed issues related to resolution of the vexed boundary problem amicably. It was also decided that the third round of border talks between the high-level delegations of Assam and Mizoram will be held in Guwahati in October 2022 where issues and claims would be deliberated in detail. It may be recalled that the first round of talks was also held in Aizawl on August 5, 2021, ten days after clashes between police forces of both states along the border during which six policemen and a civilian had died while around 60
Remote Tripura village gets solar electricity after 80 years SARKHIPARA (TRIPURA), AUG 10 (PTI): Lifestyle in remote tribal hamlet of Sarkhipara in Tripura’s Khowai district has gone a sea change as, after remaining in the dark for 80 years, it is now shining bright with the help of solar power. After sundown, children now study under electric bulbs, while men make bamboo-based traditional handicrafts and women weave tribal attires under the cool air of ceiling fans. Those were unthinkable in the recent past. But, thanks to the solar power project, the duration of working time has increased, and so is the business hours, boosting rural economy. ‘Haats’ (village markets) are now open even after dusk while roads from the village to the market are illuminated, helping villagers to cover the distance easily. “It is like a dream come true for us. Kerosine lamps and battery-operated flashlights were the only sources of light after dusk earlier. The village looked like a ghostly place at night. Now children can study at night; we can watch TV and recharge our mobile phones. Our life has changed,” Kalaha Reang, a farmer, said.
persons were injured. On the strategy to be adopted, the Mizoram chief minister hinted that the “easiest problems” would be resolved first. “It depends on the requirements. We will start with the easiest problems before we try to resolve the most difficult ones,” Zoramthanga said, while anticipating a resolution to the vexed border problem in due course through goodwill meetings. It may be mentioned that the two chief ministers had earlier held informal talks in New Delhi after the first round of ministerial-level talks were held in August last year. Speaking to reporters later, Assam
border development and protection minister Atul Bora said that both the chief ministers, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Zoramthanga, had a telephonic talk during the course of the Assam ministerial delegation’s meeting with the Mizoram chief minister on Wednesday morning. “We are grateful to chief minister Zoramthanga for his strong political will, cooperation and positive attitude. We are determined and certain that Assam will be able to resolve the border problems with Mizoram much like the progress made in the border talks with Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh,” Bora said.

PM Modi taunts Cong over black clothes protest SAYS ‘BLACK MAGIC CANNOT END YOUR BAD DAYS’; ‘POINTLESS ISSUE’, RETORTS CONG
The Congress staged nationwide protests against rising prices on August 5 with its leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi wearing black clothes in Parliament and outside. “Some people think wearing black clothes can ward off their pessimism and negativity but they don’t know that they can resort to any such tactics but can’t win back people’s confidence,” he said. In an apparent reference to the Congress, Modi also said that “black magic cannot end your bad days”. The Congress hit back at the prime minister over his ‘kala jadu’(black magic) remark, saying while
AAP promises Rs 1K monthly allowance for women in Guj; not revdi, says Kejriwal AHMEDABAD, AUG 10 (PTI): Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday promised a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 to all women above the age of 18 years in Gujarat if his party came to power, and stressed that this was not a freebie. He also promised to increase the entry-level salaries of police personnel in the state. The allowance for women was the fifth “guarantee” Kejriwal gave as part of his poll campaign i n G u j a r a t . A s s e m b ly elections are due in the BJP-ruled state by year-end. The allowance will be given to those who are willing to accept it, he said. “Rs 1,000 is not revdi (freebie). This is your right. People’s money should go to people, not to the Swiss bank,” said the Delhi Chief Minister while making the announcement at a gathering of hundreds of women. Recently, Prime
Arvind Kejriwal
Minister Narendra Modi had cautioned against “revdi culture” or the culture of freebies in politics. Ke j r i wa l ’s e a r l i e r poll guarantees to people of Gujarat included free electricity up to 300 units and an allowance of Rs 3,000 per month to the unemployed youth. The Rs 1,000 allowance will help girls pay their college fees or bear transportation costs, the AAP leader said. “Many bright girls had to leave their studies because their poor parents could not afford bus fare or college fees. This allowance will help such girls continue
‘Shah backstage hero, stuck to duties without desire for credit’
Rajnath Singh (PTI)
N E W D E L H I , AU G 10 (PTI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday described Home Minister Amit Shah as “nepathya ke nayak” (backstage hero) who has worked without any desire for credit and stuck to his duties despite bittersweet experiences in life. Releasing the book “Shabdansh”, a collection of Shah’s speeches on a variety of issues, Singh said Shah combines the rare mix of politics and spirituality and added that the range of his study will surprise many people. “It will not be an exaggeration to say Shah is a backstage hero. He has no desire for credit. He remains in background and does so many big works for the government and the party and still gets time to study so much,” the senior BJP leader said about his colleague. Shah’s life has been a laboratory and has had
its share of bittersweet memories, Singh said, noting that the Gujarat leader had to spend several months in jail, a reference to the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in which he was later acquitted by the court of all charges. Investigation agencies harassed him so much, he said, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then chief minister of Gujarat, was also targeted, a reference to the Gujarat riots case in which the SIT gave him the clean chit later. Shah had faith that truth will come out which it did, he added. “Shah went wherever probe agencies summoned him and never raised a hue and cry or launched an agitation,” Singh said, in an apparent swipe at the Congress for its protests over the questioning of its leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald case. The Congressled United Progressive Alliance (UPA) was in power when the two BJP leaders were investigated by federal agencies. Singh said, “Ever y challenge made him (Shah) stronger. Without being concerned about acclaim or ignominy, he walked the path of his duties. Rarely do we get an amalgamation of politics and spirituality but it is in him.”
their studies. The allowance will also help housewives meet their expenditures as the cost of living has increased,” he said. The Indian economy would improve if money is given to the common people, and the opposite would happen if it is given to the rich, Kejriwal said. “Many people ask where the money would come from.... AAP formed a government in Punjab in March. In the first three months of April, May and June, Punjab government’s revenue was Rs 21,000 crore, Rs 6,000 crore more than what it was in the same period last year. This extra revenue was enough to cover our free electricity cost of Rs 3,000 crore,” he claimed. There is no scarcity of money but there is a scarcity of “good intentions”, he said, alleging that the BJP gover nments spent the revenue by waiving loans and taxes of the rich.
children of their due and prevent the country from becoming self-sufficient. Such selfish policies will put more burden on honest tax payers of the country,” Modi added. Those who promise freebies will never will able to find resources for investment in new technologies, he said. “This is not a right policy but misleading one; this is not in national interest but it is against the nation; this is not nation building but an effort to push back the country”. The prime minister further said that people who have a tendency to avoid problems by adopting shor tcuts for political selfishness can never solve the problems permanently. Those adopting shortcuts may get applause for some time, and may gain political advantage, but that does not solve the problem, he said. Adopting a short-cut will definitely result in a short-circuit, he said, adding that instead of following
3 LeT terrorists killed in Budgam encounter SRINAGAR, AUG 10 (PTI): Three Lashkar-eTaiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday, police said. The security forces had launched a cordonand-search operation at Waterhail in the Khansahib area of the district following inputs about the presence of terrorists there. The search turned into an encounter after the ultras opened fire, they said. “All the 3 hiding LeT #terrorists #neutralised. Bodies being retrieved from the site, identification yet to be ascer tained. #Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition recovered. A big success for us,” ADGP, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar tweeted. Earlier, Kumar said 3 Lashkar men, including most wanted Lateef Rather, had been trapped at the encounter site.
short-cuts, our government is engaged in permanent solutions to the problems. The Supreme Court had on August 3 also asked stakeholders like the Centre, Niti Aayog, Finance Commission and the RBI to brainstorm on the “serious” issue of freebies announced during elections and put forth constructive suggestions to tackle this practice, saying no political party will oppose such handouts or like to debate it in Parliament. Vi c e P r e s i d e n t M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday also cautioned against announcement of populist measures by political parties on the eve of elections, and said the “freebie culture” has led to deteriorating financial health of many states. However, parties like the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have said welfare of poorer sections of society is not a freebie and welfare measures taken by gover nments should continue.
PATNA, AUG 10 (PTI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) on Wednesday asserted that it was “not scared of ED and CBI” following its breakup with the BJP, which rules the Centre and is often accused by the opposition of misusing investigating agencies. JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan, who addressed a press conference here to reply to the BJP’s c h a r ge o f “ b e t r aya l ” , accused the former ally of having deceived the coalition dharma “by weaning away our MLAs in Arunachal Pradesh, who were already supporting their government”. Lalan also mocked former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi for claiming that Kumar got miffed over not being considered for the vice president’s post. “He has been shunted by the BJP as a punishment for the close relations he shared with Nitish. May such antics bring him some degree of

political rehabilitation,” Lalan said. Modi had made the allegation at a press conference earlier in the day. Besides the JD(U), he drew flak from the RJD which has now become part of the new ruling coalition. “Sushil Kumar Modi had alleged police assault when Lalu Prasad was the CM. He got himself bandaged but when Lalu challenged him to show his wounds he never agreed because that would have exposed him. He is a habitual liar,” alleged RJD national vice president Shivanand Tiwary who has known Modi, Kumar and Prasad since the 1970s. To a q u e s t i o n o n Kumar having said that had Sushil Kumar Modi
been around, things would not have come to such a pass between JD(U) and BJP, Lalan said: “It is true that old timers are being side-lined in the party so that the ideals espoused by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi could be buried. Many state leaders of that period have been replaced with those who can ride on other people’s toes”. Lalan was also asked whether parting ways with the BJP would make the JD(U) vulnerable to alleged political vendetta through probe agencies. “Let them unleash the agencies. We are not afraid of the CBI and ED. Only those who run companies need to live in fear. We depend on the salary we draw as MPs or MLAs besides other legal sources of personal income for survival,” replied the Lok Sabha member. The JD(U) chief accused the BJP of having used the LJP, then headed by Chirag Paswan, “to field its own rebels against our candidates” in the last assembly polls.
ICAR develops vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle
N E W D E L H I , AU G 10 (PTI): In a major breakthrough, two institutes of ag ri research body ICAR have developed an indigenous vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease in cattle which has spread across many states in the last few months. The Centre plans to commercialise this vaccine, developed by the two institutes of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), at the earliest in order to control the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), which has led to the death of cattle in six states. As of August 8, Rajasthan has reported 2,111 deaths of cattle, followed by Gujarat at 1,679, Punjab at 672, Himachal Pradesh at 38, Andaman & Nicobar at 29 and Uttarakhand at 26. ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines (ICAR-NRCE), Hisar (Har yana), in collaboration with ICARIndian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar,
Uttar Pradesh has developed a homologous live-attenuated LSD vaccine “Lumpi-ProVacInd”. The new technology was released by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Parshottam Rupala at an event held in the national capital. While addressing the event, Tomar said: “It is our big responsibility to save animals.” He stressed expanding the production capacity of this vaccine so that it reaches the ground level at the earliest to vaccinate 30
crore animals. O n t h e s i d e l i n e s, Rupala complemented the ICAR scientists for the development of this indigenous vaccine, which he said would help in controlling the LSD. “Scientists were making efforts to develop this vaccine since the LSD disease was first reported in Odisha in 2019. Today, the technology has been launched and now we will move forward to ensure how this vaccine reaches farmers who have cattle,” he said. Rupala said it is a very “encouraging” development as the spread of the LSD has
become a serious issue. He said there is a protocol for the commercialisation of vaccines and the animal husbandry department will see how it can be expedited. “ We h a v e g o t a solution for this deadly disease,” Rupala said. Till now, the minister said the states are currently using goat pox to control this disease, which is also effective. Rupala said the mortality in Rajasthan has reduced. B N Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR, said the two institutes can produce 2.5 lakh dosages per month. “The cost of per dose is Rs 1-2,” he said, adding that the immunity induced by homologous live attenuated L S D va c c i n e s u s u a l ly persists for a minimum period of one year. The LSD disease was reported for the first time in India in 2019 from Odisha. In the initial years, it was mainly restricted to the eastern part of our country.
Nitish serving last term as CM, will not get the chair again: Giriraj
NEW DELHI/PATNA, AUG 10 (PTI): BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj S i n g h o n We d n e s d ay claimed Nitish Kumar is serving his last term as Bihar chief minister and will never get the chair again and dubbed him as a “snake” while referring to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s fiveyear-old remarks. Singh further said the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will wield real power in Bihar as Kumar has joined hands with it for furthering his prime ministerial ambitions. He, however, made light of Kumar’s prospects saying anyone could nurse such an ambition. JD(U) leader Kumar took oath as Bihar chief minister for a record eighth time on Wednesday, a day after snapping ties with the BJP-led NDA and joining hands with the RJD to form a ‘Mahagathbandhan’ government. Re f e r r i n g t o R J D supremo Lalu Prasad’s old remarks in which he had described Kumar as a “snake”, Singh said that now the same snake has entered Yadav’s house for furthering his prime ministerial ambitions. When Kumar snapped ties with the RJD in 2017 and allied with the BJP again, Yadav in a tweet described him as a snake that sheds its skin every two years. Sharing Yadav’s

tweet, Singh, who has often been critical of Kumar, on Wednesday said, “The snake has entered your home.” Underlining that Kumar can never become chief minister on his own, Singh said, “Nitish Kumar is serving his last term as chief minister, he will never get this chair again.” He said that Kumar considers himself prime minister material and his ambition leads him to ditch the people’s mandate and jump to the other side to form the government. “RJD will wield real

Even when the BJP was in alliance with JD(U), Singh had many times expressed his reservations about various decisions of Kumar and his stance on various ideological and Hindutva-related issues. PANIPAT/NEW DELHI, AUG 10 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a swipe at the Congress over its recent black clothes protest against price rise, saying resorting to ‘black magic’ cannot end the opposition party’s “bad days” and help it earn the trust of people again. Dedicating to the nation a Rs 900 crore second generation ethanol plant at Panipat in Haryana, Modi also renewed his attack on the culture of freebies for votes, and said they are a spoke in India’s effort to become self-reliant and a burden on taxpayers. Without naming Congress, he said some out of frustration resorted to ‘black magic’ on August 5. “On August 5, we saw how some people tried to spread ‘black magic’. These people think that by wearing black clothes they can end their despondency. But they do not know that by engaging in witchcraft, black magic and superstition, they cannot earn the trust of people again,” Modi said.

Nitish phenomenon
B
ihar’s longest serving politician and chief minister Nitish Kumar has rightly earned the sobriquet as ‘kursi kumar’ meaning a self-serving survival whose politics is about being in power through all means fair or foul. Nitish is also known as a politician who gets along with every political party when the need arises. In recent times, Nitish backstabbed the grand alliance – Mahagathbandhan- comprising of RJD, Congress, Left and other anti-BJP parties to jump over to BJP. In the-- election, Nitish formed a pre-poll alliance with the BJP and won only – seats while BJP won --. The JDUBJP alliance under Nitish formed the government in Bihar. Halfway through the innings Nitish realized his political innings was drastically on the wane. The plea that BJP was going to trying to get rid of him as it did with Uddhav Thackeray was not enough material to flip over. It is true that BJP does not have much trust in Nitish because he has a record of betrayal but nevertheless allowed him to hold on to the kursi because it wanted to prevent RJD under a younger and dynamic leader Tejashwi Yadavn from becoming the main party in Bihar. Traditionally Nitesh has been part of NDA since the Vajpayee era. Nitish Kumar has been appointed chief minister on five occasions beginning from 2000 as Samata Party leader but resigned when the NDA did not have majority. Nitesh again became chief minister in 2005 after joining the NDA. He left the NDA in 2013 due to Modi. He resigned in 2014 following his party’s poor showing in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. He then teamed up with RJD in 2015 and formed the Mahagathbandhan coalition government comprising of JDU, RJD and Congress. Nitish however repeated his “resignation cycle” on July 26,2017 as chief minister of the Mahagathbandhan on the plea that his deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav refused to resign on allegations of corruption. That was a specious plea but for Nitish any excuse is good enough to dump allies. Nitish has been occupying the chair since 2000 at various intervals by walking in and out of coalitions. His betrayal of the Bihar Mahagathbandhan in 2017 over Tejashwi Yadav and now rejoining the same alliance with the support of Tejashwi is perhaps the lowest form of survival politics. Nitish attacked and betrayed Tejashwi on the issue of corruption and flipped back to BJP and it was meant to suggest that the flip over transformed Nitish into a saint and the BJP turned into a paragon of virtue. After Nitish did another somersault to the other side, BJP is righteously furious at Nitish and calling him names. Now that Nitish has returned back to the Mahagathbandhan because he knows that BJP, in ascendency in Bihar, would not need him anymore because he has become less relevant in Bihar and whose time has come to be in the file of political history. Nitish has always been skeptical of the kind of politics of Narendra Modi who functions through the totalitarian style politics followed in Gujarat. Nitish may not be wrong that Modi was about to break the JDU and have complete dominion over Bihar. BJP did it in many states as a precursor to the 2024 after which India will likely have a single dominant party under the most powerful of all prime ministers in its history.
DailyDevotion The Holy Suffering of the Saint Let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good… —1 Peter 4:19 Choosing to suffer means that there must be something wrong with you, but choosing God’s will— even if it means you will suffer— is something very different. No normal, healthy saint ever chooses suffering; he simply chooses God’s will, just as Jesus did, whether it means suffering or not. And no saint should ever dare to interfere with the lesson of suffering being taught in another saint’s life. The saint who satisfies the heart of Jesus will make other saints strong and mature for God. But the people used to strengthen us are never those who sympathize with us; in fact, we are hindered by those who give us their sympathy, because sympathy only serves to weaken us. No one better understands a saint than the saint who is as close and as intimate with Jesus as possible. If we accept the sympathy of another saint, our spontaneous feeling is, “God is dealing too harshly with me and making my life too difficult.” That is why Jesus said that self-pity was of the devil (see Matthew 16:21-23). We must be merciful to God’s reputation. It is easy for us to tarnish God’s character because He never argues back; He never tries to defend or vindicate Himself. Beware of thinking that Jesus needed sympathy during His life on earth. He refused the sympathy of people because in His great wisdom He knew that no one on earth understood His purpose (see Matthew 16:23). He accepted only the sympathy of His Father and the angels (see Luke 15:10). Look at God’s incredible waste of His saints, according to the world’s judgment. God seems to plant His saints in the most useless places. And then we say, “God intends for me to be here because I am so useful to Him.” Yet Jesus never measured His life by how or where He was of the greatest use. God places His saints where they will bring the most glory to Him, and we are totally incapable of judging where that may be.

NAGALAND POST, DIMAPUR THURSDAY, AUGUST 11, 2022

Habits either create wealth or poverty
ealth Creation through integrity is the most honourable and acceptable solution for the situation that the Nagas are in today, next to the permanent political Solution which is earnestly desired by one and all. It would not be an overstatement I believe, to say so because then we will not just speak for our own belly being continual parasites to Delhi which has been the usual practice of the moment, but speak with courage and dignity from the core of our being which will heal our land from the many ills that afflicts our society as a consequence of the pursuit for easy money without labour, effort and sacrifices. We shall then have a just and respectable Pan Naga Community and the land of the Naga people would be a utopia, if people live in dignity, honesty, purity, love and unselfishness without extortions, fratricides, kidnappings and corruptions. It is not money and assets alone, but habits and character that either creates wealth or poverty in life. Your future is in your hands, in your successful behavioural traits, and no force or power can stop a promising future if you have the willpower and the determination to create it. After meeting successful Naga athletes, Naga businessmen etc, I
have drawn some practical and positive qualities that make them highly successful. I have always been fascinated by the thought process of successful people in our midst in Nagaland – their strict and strong discipline, their focus and above all, their unshakeable determination in the face of difficulties and crisis and ability to use failures as a springboard to success. There are seven traits that will determine whether you are going to be successful or a failure. It also goes on to show how capable you are, of making your dreams a reality. Good Habits: Successful people channel their energy for self- development and develop great habits along the way while unsuccessful people have self- destructive habits such as smoking, drinking, prolonged and extended hours of viewing T.V and mobile smart phones. According to Dan Lok, a business magnate, author and global educator, “Habits determine 95 % of a person’s behaviour”. Where you are today is because of your habits. Everything that you are today and everything that you will accomplish in the future is determined by the quality of the habits that you inculcate. Best people have the best habits. Successful people are those with successful habits. These habits can be getting up early in the morning
to use time productively, reading regularly, meditating, exercising etc. Purpose driven- Successful people are purpose driven and result oriented. Even in the face of disappointments, they do not give up but keep pushing themselves harder, till their dreams are realized. They do not laze away or procrastinate. Some people work for 16 to 18 hours, every single day. Elon Musk, one of the richest man of the world is reportedly known to work 22 hours a day, even at the age of 50 years. Such successful people are driven to provide for their family basically then to the society, fuelled by their vision and driven by their respective missions. Believe in self- Successful people believe in themselves and hone their abilities without being negative and pessimistic, which sometimes stem up from their own fears and self- doubt. Confidence is often lost when one listens to people, who put you down and magnifies the weaknesses more than the strengths. Developing self- confidence comes from sharpening one’s competence, through mind training and developing one’s faith. It demands going beyond the ordinary, believing in oneself when no one believes in you. There is however a thin line between confi-
dence and arrogance and one needs to be cautious. Being proud and boastful is not confidence but knowing that you can do it in the face of criticism and hardships is about being confident and believing in oneself. Positive self talk and actions make successful people. Good orators- Successful people communicate effectively and they are able to articulate their ideas, in the best possible manner. Communication comes in many forms and can be of written, spoken, interpersonal skills etc,. The pursuit of success requires one to pay attention to this aspect and sharpen oratory skills and develop public speaking skills. Successful people have great communication skills so they are able to persuade, influence and inspire other people. G r ow t h m i n d s e t Dan Lok also states that successful people have a ‘growth mindset’. He gives the example of Mark Cuban who reads three hours a day, and also Bill Gates who is said to read at least one hour per day. “It is not just reading a book, but listening to a podcast, talking to other successful people, getting coaching from your mentors is important,” he adds. Some people while taking meal would pull out journals and take notes for reference, which turns out into a learning session. So basically, it
would be capitalizing on every moment, to turn it into a self- development and learning experience. Embracing failuresSuccessful people do not allow failures to soak into them and sulk. They do not disregard failures but they take it in their stride and move on. They analyse, reflect and draw lessons from it, taking a path of self -correction or develop strategies to correct the mistakes that caused the failure. They have a strong positive mindset, envisioning a future full of positivity, and they work towards it by turning their ideas into actions. Your positive expectations determine your great future, which is faith in God. Without faith, you cannot achieve anything great. The most successful people in any field have known failures and disappointments, and they have probably failed more than anybody else. The difference between a successful person and everyone else is neither a lack of strength, nor a lack of knowledge, but a lack of will power. Winston Churchill said it best, “success is going from failure to failure, without losing enthusiasm”. High Emotional Quotient- Successful people normally have a high Emotional Quotient (EQ). Wikipedia describes emotional intelligence (also known as EQ) as the ability to perceive,
use, understand, manage and handle emotions. How one handles one’s emotions or empathizes with people around them deter mines their EQ. Studies show that people with high emotional intelligence know their limitations and capabilities, have greater mental health, job performance and leadership skills and they handle pressure well. Successful people surround themselves with people smarter than them, who complement them, to propel them into success. Successful people stay calm, even when they are met with stress and failure, even when things don’t go their way. Successful people assess their strengths and weaknesses from a young age. They prove their mettle no matter what comes their way. They do not waste time doing something they are not good at but they work on their knowledge to build their skills. Wealth can be created by turning one’s potentials into wealth, and to achieve that it is imperative to possess the right set of skills and attitude. While good habits alone do not guarantee success, acquisition of the right skills along with perseverance without being complacent, can go a long way as one climbs further up to the top. Political settlement: Is the state govt and TNR roadmap to peaceful, 60 members of NLA responsible for delay honourable & early solution in settlement of Naga political problem? W
T
he creation of Nagaland State on 1st December, 1963 was a clear indication of Government of India’s desire to solve the Naga political problem and to usher in peace and prosperity to Nagaland. Thus, the Naga people were given the power, responsibility and opportunity to govern their own affairs. In the history of the Nagas, for the first time, a responsible and popular Government was formed by the Nagaland Nationalist Organization (NNO) in January, 1964. Since then the successive State Government of Nagaland has set itself to the task of running responsible Government with firm determination to solve the Naga Political Problem and to bring peace and development to Nagaland. Most immediate and supreme task for the Government of Nagaland was to put an end to hostilities and uncertainties by creating and goodwill among the people, and to restore normal conditions in the State. In the meanwhile, God gave a vision to the Baptist Church leaders to form a Peace Mission in the Third Baptist Church Convention at Wokha in 1964. The proposal to form a Peace Mission consisting of Mr. B.P. Chaliha, Mr. Narayan, Mr. Shankar Rao Deo and Rev. Michael Scott in February, 1964 was approved by the NNO party in Dimapur Session in February, 1964. The Government of Nagaland, after careful consideration, agreed to the proposal and introduced a Government Resolution in the Nagaland Assembly which was passed unanimously on 13th March, 1964. The Peace Mission as well as the Church leaders worked hard to affect a stoppage of operations. An agreement was signed for cessation of hostilities on 25th May, 1964 and a period of stoppage of operation was effected from 6th September, 1964. The first round of Peace talks was held at Chedema on September 23, 1964 between the Government of India delegation and the Underground Naga
representatives. After 9-rounds of talks in the official levels, the underground leaders wanted to have talks with the Prime Minister of India. The NNO party and the State Government having pledged to bring peace and political settlement, declared that they will not stand on the way, and allowed the underground leaders to have direct talks with the Prime Minister. This is the reason why the underground leaders could hold six rounds of peace talks with the Prime Minister. In a series of meetings between the Government of India and the underground leaders, the question of settlement was discussed but nothing concrete came out of the talks. When it became clear that there could be no way out in arriving at a political settlement, the Peace Mission proposed a formula whereby ‘the Naga should of their own volition decide to participate in the Indian Union; while the Government of India would consider to what extent the pattern and structure of relationship between Nagaland and the Government of India should be adapted and recast so as to satisfy the aspirations of all sections of Naga opinion’. At once the State Government hailed the Peace Mission proposal and appeal to all concerned to seriously consider the proposal in the interest of mutual peace and existence. This proposal was supported by all the Church leaders and the entire public of Nagaland with great hope and expectation that at last a ray of hope was raised in the horizon. However, the underground leaders completely ignored the Peace Mission proposal and discarded the desire and wishes of the Naga public. The Government of India made their position amply clear to the underground that any talks with them could only be on the basis of Nagaland’s continuance as a constituent State within the Indian Union. However, the sixth and final round of talks by the underground with the Government of India came to a dead-
lock because the underground did not come down from their original stand for sovereignty. Since there was no meeting ground for further negotiation, the underground left Delhi in a huff in October, 1967. On 5th Febr uar y, 1993, in the Congress Party election Rally at Dimapur Stadium, Shri. P.V. Narasimha Rao, the Prime Minister and the Congress President, announced that the Naga problem is a ‘Political Problem’; and after that an emissaries such as late Rajesh Pilot and others were assigned to contacts the NSCM (IM) leaders and the Ceasefire Agreement was signed in August,1997. And on August 3, 2015, between the Government of India Interlocutor, Shri. R.N. Ravi and the NSCM (IM), leaders signed the ‘Frame Works Agreement. On November 17, 2017, between the Government of India Interlocutor, Shri. R.N. Ravi and the NNPGS leaders Working Committee signed Agreed Position for Resolution of Naga Political Issue. The State Government and the political parties in Nagaland are not the contending party(s). The contending parties are the Government of India and the various groups of Naga national workers. Right from the year1964, after 1st General election in Nagaland State, the political parties stands have been to work for the solution of the vexed Naga political problem and to bring the contending parties to negotiating table and declared that they would not stand on the way for solution of the problem. The Political parties have also promised in their respective Manifesto that as and when the Agreement is signed for the final solution, the elected members of the Nagaland Legislative will pave the way for the implementations of the agreement. Therefore, the question of resignation of MLAs without such agreement for final solution does not arise. Chingwang Konyak, President, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party
e value and support the resolve of the Naga public for early solution to the 25-year long peace process. We recognize the moral responsibility of all Nagas to work collectively and prepare the ground for political solution. We express concern at the deep division prevailing in the present Naga society that is unhelpful for early and peaceful solution. Therefore, the way forward is for all Nagas to work together in the interest of early and peaceful solution. Towards this end, The Naga Rising humbly proposes to our elders, leaders and organizations the following: 1. To help supplement efforts of the Core Committee on Naga Political Issue comprising all 60 legislators of Nagaland, a community platform with representation of all shades and opinions should be formed through
the initiative of the Church. 2. To work towards convergence of the Naga political groups as there will be only one solution to the Naga issue, as announced by the Gol. 3. To help break the stalemate between the GoI and the NSCN (IM) on the unresolved issue of flag and constitution. This roadmap is based on the resolution passed at The Naga Rising annual meeting, June 29, 2022. Sir,
Need for more recreational activities
There is a need for more recreational activities in Nagaland but there are only few recreational places where adults and kids can spend time in recreational activities. Recreational activities have a considerate effect on the mind and the overall health of an individual. This in return also supports the improvement of their self-image, self-esteem which ultimately contributes towards improving the overall quality of life. Socialization: Through recreation, people discover who they are as individuals and who they are as members of a group. They learn the give-and-take of relationships, appropriate manners and customs, and the skills necessary to make and keep friends. People also discover what gives them joy, passion, and meaning in life. Through recreation, people have new experiences, engage more fully in living, and develop healthy lifestyles. Recreation is important for all ages, but it is especially crucial during children’s formative years. Socialization opportunities through recreation are needed to support their social-emotional maturity into healthy adulthood. regard, there is no such change,” he said in response, when told that an ex-BJP MLA has indicated about replacement of the CM. Bommai, who took over from Yediyurappa as Chief Minister, completed one year in office on July 28. He is currently under home isolation after testing positive for COVID-19. The Congress in a series of tweets has been speculating about Chief Minister Bommai being replaced and has even called him a “puppet CM”. There has been some buzz on and off within the state BJP in recent times, regarding some kind of an overhaul including at the top level, especially after the recent visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state. Former BJP MLA
B Suresh Gowda’s recent statement indicating some changes that the high command will take a call on replacing the chief minister and other matters in the interest of the party and to win the elections in future, had added to the speculations. Clarifying that Shah discussed with him about the political developments and other issues when both met last week here, Yediyurappa said there was no discussion regarding leadership change and that question did not arise at all. “I’m 100 per cent confident that Bommai will continue and complete the next eight-month period as Chief Minister,” he said, adding that the CM at the earliest after consulting the national leadership will decide on cabinet expansion and other matters.
Regarding the new state party president, the veteran BJP leader said naturally once the term of the current president is completed, change will happen, and the high command will decide. The incumbent state president Kateel’s term is ending by August 20. To a q u e s t i o n o n any discussion with Shah regarding his recent announcement about vacating his Shikaripura assembly seat in favour of his son, Yediyurappa said, “I have openly said that B Y Vijayendra (Yediyurappa’s son) should contest from there. Ultimately, the central leadership will take a decision and we will abide by it.” Asked about former chief minister Jagadish Shettar meeting him, Yediyurappa said, “He is a senior leader and former CM, he had come to discuss political developments on getting to know that I’m going out of town.” Yediyurappa, who is travelling to Mantralaya, a pilgrim village located in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, said, after coming back he along with other leaders will begin travelling together across Karnataka, and will see to it that Congress doesn’t come to power and BJP once again

Shameful to extract price of ‘Tiranga’: Varun
Invite people mentioned by PM in ‘Mann Ki Baat’, kin of martyrs: MHA to states
NEW DELHI, AUG 10 (PTI): BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that ration card holders are being forced to buy the national flag, and said it will be unfortunate if celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Independence becomes a burden on the poor. It is “shameful” to extract the price of ‘Tiranga’, which lives in the heart of every Indian, by snatching the poor’s morsel of food, he said in a tweet in Hindi. The Pilibhit MP posted a video purportedly showing some ration card holders complaining about being forced to pay Rs 20 to buy the flag. “It will be unfortunate if the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Independence becomes a burden on the poor. Ration card holders are being forced to buy Tiranga or denied a share of grains they are entitled to,” he said. The central government has urged people to hoist or display the national flag at their home during August 13-15 as part of “Har Ghar Tiranga” programme. The BJP has been running a campaign to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call a big success. Var un Gandhi had been critical of the government over a host of issues.
NEW DELHI, AUG 10 (PTI): Women village heads, kin of martyred soldiers and people mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address will be among the invitees at the ‘At Home’ function to be hosted by the governors and lieutenant governors on Independence Day. In a communication to states and Union Territories, the Union Home Ministry stressed that apart from the usual protocol-based invitees, the attendees should represent diverse fields. The invitation for the ‘At Home’ function to be held at Governor or LG House on August 15 evening should be sent to physically challenged achievers in different fields, people who made an exemplary contribution to society, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, eco-warriors and those who have contributed to environmental conservation, it said. The home ministry said those mentioned in references from states and UTs in the prime minister’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ radio address, Padma awardees from the state, families of
communication said, adding at least 25-50 invites may be reserved for such achievers. The names of such invitees should be announced in advance to enable them to prepare for the occasion. The home ministry said there should be a system whereby the invitees’ list is generated afresh every year so that the opportunity is given to a broad set of people. It could be considered that a person gets an invite just once. It said that special attention may be paid to the band at Governor and LG House.

NEW DELHI, AUG 10 (AGENCIES): The Congress on Wednesday said it would launch an agitation against the defence recruitment scheme Agnipath and unemployment after August 15 even as it extended full support to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha’s ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ campaign. Congress leader and RS MP Deepender Singh Hooda said the party would demand rollback of the Agnipath scheme during its agitation. He said the SKM and some organisations of jawans and the unemployed youth had announced jointly launching ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ campaign against the Agnipath scheme and holding seminars all over the country from August 7 to 14. The Congress party will extend its full support to the campaign, he added.
forms the government in the state. Hitting out at Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar without naming them, he said, “Some people are under illusion about becoming chief minister, there is no opportunity for it. It is certain that a BJP person will become the CM. BJP will make 100 per cent efforts to come back to power and win more than 130-135 seats.” “We have the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah and we are 100 per cent sure about the BJP returning to power,” he added. Earlier in the day, senior BJP leader and Revenue Minister R Ashoka challenged the Congress to name its CM candidate for the 2023 assembly polls as he accused the opposition party of unnecessarily raking up the issue of Karnataka Chief Minister replacement to cover up the rift within. Ruling out CM Bommai’s replacement, Ashoka said BJP’s top leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have already said that the election will be under Bommai’s leadership and the party will abide by it.

over invoking Rule 267 seeking suspension of all other rules for taking up certain issues of importance as felt by some sections of the House. “The Rule 267 should be resorted to in the rarest of the rare cases that justifies suspension of other rules of the House. It should not be taken lightly. Different Members giving notices under this Rule on different issues on the same day is another issue impacting the perceived priorities for the day,” a source quoting him said. Naidu is learnt to have told them that he acted tough on some occasions as warranted by the rules of the House and it was in the larger interest of the functioning of the House. Despite the limitations imposed on the Chair in the matter of allocation of time to different parties and MPs, Venkaiah Naidu told the members that he did his best to give more time to members of small parties represented in the House.

NEW DELHI, AUG 10 (PTI): Outgoing Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on his last day in office on Wednesday said he is leaving satisfied with his work and urged the members of the house to make judicious use of rules and instruments to raise various issues. In a meeting with the secretary general and other senior officials of the Secretariat this morning, Naidu said, “During the last five years I have done my best as the Chairman of Rajya Sabha and I am leaving this office satisfied.” Sources said he referred to the reversal during the last three years of the declining trend of productivity of Rajya Sabha since 1995 and various initiatives taken to enable effective functioning of the House and the Secretariat. Naidu complimented the senior officials of the Secretariat for their commitment and hard work and assistance extended to him during the last five years. He urged them to identify deficiencies, if any in the system and to strive to remove the same. Later, in a meeting with some members of Rajya Sabha, recourse to various rules by the MPs to raise issues was discussed at length. Naidu voiced concern

BENGALURU, AUG 10 (PTI): Rejecting speculations that the Karnataka Chief Minister would be replaced ahead of assembly polls next year, state BJP strongman B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday said Basavaraj Bommai will complete the term and no such discussions about a change has taken place in the party. The former chief minister also said the party leadership will decide on the next state BJP president, once the incumbent Nalin Kumar Kateel’s term is over, and that he and other state leaders will tour Karnataka with an aim to come back to power in the 2023 assembly polls. “There is no truth in it. There is no question of changes when it is seven to eight months for election. Basavaraj Bommai will continue as the Chief Minister. Such unnecessary reports in the media are not right, I appeal to you to stop it,” Yediyurappa said in response to a question on Congress’ tweets regarding replacement of the CM. Speaking to reporters here, he said no one in the party is discussing changing the CM and there is no need for it. “Even if someone has said something in this

India to start Covid mix-and-match booster vaccines
(From p-1) New test can tell how much immunity you have: Meanwhile, researchers in the US have developed an easyto-use test that can predict the degree of immune protection people have against COVID-19, either from vaccination, infection, or a combination of the two. Easy access to this kind of test could help people determine what kind of precautions they should take against COVID-19 infection, such as getting an additional booster shot, the researchers said. Described in the journal Cell Reports Methods, the test

measures the level of neutralising antibodies -- responsible for defending cells from the virus -- that target SARS-CoV-2 in a blood sample. “Among the general population, many people probably want to know how well protected they are,” said Hojun Li from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)’s Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, US. Li and his collaborates developed a device that can detect the presence of antibodies that block the SARS-CoV-2 receptor binding domain (RBD) from binding to ACE2, the human receptor that the virus uses to infect cells.
The first step in the test is to mix human blood samples with viral RBD protein that has been labelled with tiny gold particles which can be visualised when bound to a paper strip. After allowing time for antibodies in the sample to interact with the viral protein, a few drops of the sample are placed on a test strip embedded with two test lines. One of these lines attracts free viral RBD proteins, while the other attracts any RBD that has been captured by neutralising antibodies, the researchers said. A strong signal from the second line indicates a high level of neutralising antibodies in the sample, they said.
TNR releases ‘roadmap’ for Naga political issue (From p-1) Beyond making appeals for early solution or mobilizing masses, Longkumer said TNR was clear and firm in its understanding that the prevailing situation also demanded decisive plan of combined action and strategy. In this regard, he stated that Nagas by nature become emotional and impulsive at a given situation. “We tend to lose our way in confusion we create, exposing our isms and division,” Longkumer said and stressed the need to apply more of mind, to think critically and objectively. Responding to a query on how to break the stalemate between the government of India and NSCN (I-M) on the unresolved issues of flag and constitution, Longkumer said that the idea of early solution could only happen if there was a breakthrough to the roadblock or issues that were stopping the solution from being achieved. Longkumer said that TNR had taken the initiatives to reach out to experts on how to find a bigger ground between the Government of India and NSCN ((I-M) on the issue of Flag and Constitution. Meanwhile, TNR has appealed to all Nagas beyond borders to take ownership of the roadmap.

limits on air fare after the resumption of services in May, 2020 following the two-month nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19. Thereafter, the limits were relaxed in a phased manner as per the improvement in air traffic in the country. The lower caps were meant as a relief for airlines struggling after the pandemic. At the same time, the upper caps on
air fare were fixed ensuring that passengers do not have to pay a hefty amount for air travel. Earlier, discussions on removing the fare bands for domestic air fare were held among the stakeholders, including the government authorities and airlines. The airlines were of the view that removal of the pricing cap is required for the full-fledged recovery of domestic air traffic.

NEW DELHI, AUG 10 (IANS): Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday announced the removal of lower and upper limits on air fare in the country. “After review of the current status of scheduled domestic operations viza-viz passenger demand for air travel, it has been decided to remove the fare bands notified from time to time regarding air fare with effect from 31.08.2022,” said the Ministry of Civil Aviation. “The decision to remove air fare caps has been taken after careful analysis of daily demand and prices of air turbine fuel. Stabilisation has set in and we are certain that the sector is poised for growth in domestic traffic in the near future,” Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a tweet. For the regulated entities, RBI has said all loan disbursals and repayments are required to be executed only between the bank ac-

Further, these apps have to provide an option to borrowers to accept or deny consent for use of specific data, including the option to revoke previously granted consent, besides the option to delete the data collected from borrowers by the DLAs/ LSPs. The central bank has also mandated that any lending sourced through DLAs have to be reported to Credit Information Companies (CICs) by regulated entities irrespective of its nature or tenor. “All new digital lending products extended by regulated entities over merchant platforms involving short term credit or deferred payments are required to be reported to CICs by the regulated entities,” the RBI said. This is particularly important given a number of ‘buy now, pay later’ players were not reporting the loans they were offering to CICs.

The central bank has classified the universe of digital lenders into three groups – entities regulated by the RBI and permitted to carry out lending business; entities authorised to carry out lending as per other statutory/regulatory provisions but not regulated by RBI; and entities lending outside the purview of any statutory/ regulatory provisions. formalises US support Will use military force to annex Taiwan: China forBiden Finland, Sweden joining NATO
A People’s Liberation Army member looks through binoculars during military exercises around Taiwan. (AP)
BEIJING, AUG 10 (AP): China on Wednesday reaffirmed its threat to use military force to bring selfgoverning Taiwan under its control, amid threatening Chinese military exercises that have raised tensions between the sides to their highest level in years. The statement issued by the Cabinet’s Taiwan Affairs Office and its news department followed almost a week of missile firings and incursions into Taiwanese waters and airspace by Chinese warships and air force planes. The actions have dis-
rupted flights and shipping in a region crucial to global supply chains, prompting strong condemnation from the US, Japan and others. The Chinese statement said Beijing seeks “peaceful unification” with Taiwan but “does not pledge to relinquish the use of military force and retains all necessary options”. In an additional response, China said it was cutting off dialogue on issues from maritime security to climate change with the US, Taiwan’s chief military and political backer. China says the threat-
ening moves were prompted by a visit to Taiwan last week by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but Taiwan says such visits are routine and that China used that merely as a pretext to up its threats. Taiwan’s foreign minister warned Tuesday that the Chinese military drills reflect ambitions to control large swaths of the western Pacific, while Taipei conducted its own exercises to underscore its readiness to defend itself. Beijing’s strateg y would include controlling the East and South China seas via the Taiwan Strait and imposing a blockade to prevent the US and its allies from aiding Taiwan in the event of an attack, Joseph Wu told a news conference in Taipei. Beijing has extended the ongoing exercises without announcing when they will end. Taiwan split with the mainland amid civil war in 1949 and the island’s 23 million people overwhelmingly oppose political unification with China, while preferring
to maintain close economic links and the status quo of de-facto independence. Through its maneuvers, China has pushed closer to Taiwan’s borders and may be seeking to establish a new normal in which it could eventually control access to the island’s ports and airspace.
The US, Taipei’s main backer, has also shown itself to be willing to face down China’s threats. Washington has no formal diplomatic ties with Taiwan in deference to Beijing, but is legally bound to ensure the island can defend itself and to treat all threats against it as matters of grave concern.
Chinese envoy tells Australia to show ‘caution’ over Taiwan
CANBERRA, AUG 10 (AP): Australia’s recent change of gover nment was a chance to “reset” its troubled relationship with China, but the new administration must “handle the Taiwan question with caution,” a Chinese envoy said on Wednesday. Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian said he was “surprised” that Australia had signed a statement with the United States and Japan that condemned China’s firing of missiles into Japanese waters in response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan last
week. “We hope that the Australian side could take China-Australia relations with serious attitude. Take the One China’ principle seriously, handle the Taiwan question with caution,” Xiao told the National Press Club. Xiao would not say when the live-fire military exercises near Taiwan might end. He said an announcement would be made at a “proper time”. China wanted a peaceful reunification with Taiwan, which Beijing considers a self-governing province, but Xiao did not rule out use of force.
WASHINGTON, AUG 10 (AP): President Joe Biden formally welcomed Finland and Sweden joining the NATO alliance Tuesday as he signed the instruments of ratification that delivered the U.S.’s formal backing of the Nordic nations entering the mutual defense pact, part of a reshaping of the European security posture after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “In seeking to join NATO, Finland and Sweden are making a sacred commitment that an attack against one is an attack against all,” Biden said at the signing as he called the partnership the “indispensable alliance.” The U.S. became the 23rd ally to approve NATO membership for the two countries. Biden said he spoke with the heads of both nations before signing the ratification and urged the remaining NATO members to finish their own ratification process “as quickly

as possible.” The Senate last week approved the two, oncenon-aligned nations joining the alliance in a rare 95-1 vote that Biden said shows the world that “the United States of America can still do big things” with a sense of political unity. The countries sought out NATO membership earlier this year to guarantee their security in the wake of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s offensive in Ukraine. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s rules require the consent of all
of its 30 existing members before Finland and Sweden can officially accede into the alliance, which is expected in the coming months. The candidacies of the two prosperous Northern European nations have won ratification from more than half of the NATO member nations in the roughly three months since the two applied. It marks one of the speediest expansions of the pact of mutual defense among the United States and democratic allies in Europe in its 73-year history.
Russia targets reporter with Iran offered to pay $300,000 to kill ex-white house NSA: US raid, probe over war criticism MOSCOW, AUG 10 (AP): Russian authorities on Wednesday raided the home of a former state TV journalist who quit after making an on-air protest against Moscow’s war in Ukraine, and launched a criminal case against her on the charge of spreading false information about the Russian armed forces, her lawyer said on social media. The case against Marina Ovsyannikova was launched under a law, enacted after the February 24 invasion of Ukraine, that penalises statements against the military, lawyer Dmitry Zakhvatov said. A conviction is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Zakhvatov told the independent news site Me-

duza that the case is likely linked to a protest Ovsyannikova staged last month, holding a banner that said “(Russian President Vladimir) Putin is a killer, his soldiers are fascists.” He said on Telegram that after the raid Ovsyannikova is ex-
pected to be brought into the Investigative Committee for questioning. Ovsyannikova used to work as a producer with Russian state-funded Channel One. She made international headlines on March 14, when she appeared behind the anchor of an evening news broadcast holding a poster that said “stop the war, don’t believe the propaganda, they are lying to you here.” She was charged with disparaging the Russian military and fined 30,000 rubles (USD 270 at the time). WASHINGTON, AUG 10 (AGENCIES): The US Justice Department said Wednesday it had uncovered an Iranian plot to kill former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton, and announced charges against a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Justice Department said 45-year-old Shahram Poursafi, also known as Mehdi Rezayi, had offered to pay an individual in the United States $300,000 to kill Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations. The Justice Department said that plan was likely set in retaliation for the US killing of top Guard commander Qassem Soleimani in Iraq in January
John Bolton
2020. The allegation came as Iran weighs a proposed agreement in Vienna talks to revive the 2015 agreement that aims to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. For months Tehran has held up the deal, demanding that the United States remove its official designation of the Islam-
ic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a sponsor of terrorism. “This is not the first time we have uncovered Iranian plots to exact revenge against individuals on US soil and we will work tirelessly to expose and disrupt every one of these efforts,” said US Assistant Attorney General
Matthew Olsen. According to the charges, Poursafi tried to arrange Bolton’s murder beginning in October 2021, when he contacted online an unidentified person in the United States, first saying he wanted to commission photographs of Bolton. That person passed the Iranian onto another contact, who Poursafi then asked to kill Bolton. He offered $250,000, which was then negotiated up to $300,000. “Poursafi added that he had an additional ‘job,’ for which he would pay $1 million,” the Justice Department said. But that second person, court documents say, was a confidential source for the US Federal Bureau
of Investigation. The ostensible assassin stalled, waiting for an initial payment, but only in late April did Poursafi send money, paying a total of $100 in cryptocurrency. Poursafi was charged with the use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-forhire, which brings up to 10 years in prison, and with providing and attempting to provide material support to a transnational murder plot, which carries a 15year sentence. Bolton, one of the leading “hawks” of the US foreign policy establishment and a strong critic of Iran, was the national security advisor in the White House of President Donald Trump from April 2018 to September 2019.

Nine dead, 7 missing in record rainfall in S.Korea SEOUL, AUG 10 (IANS): Nine people have been confirmed dead and seven others remain unaccounted for in this week’s record rainfall that battered Seoul and South Korea’s central and eastern regions, officials said on Wednesday, adding that more than 2,500 homes and buildings were flooded. A total of 525 mm of rain pounded Seoul from Monday to Wednesday morning, while Yangpyeong, 45 km east of the capital, recorded an accumulated 526.2 mm of rain during the period, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Nine people were killed -- five in Seoul, three in Gyeonggi and one in Gangwon -- while seven others went missing, four of them from Seoul and the
three others from Gyeonggi, and 17 were injured, according to government data. A total of 2,676 houses and buildings were inundated, most of them in Seoul, reports Yonhap News Agency. About 570 people from 398 households, mostly from the wider Seoul area, have been displaced, which left them staying at local schools and gyms. A further 1,253 people from 724 households across the country have temporarily evacuated, officials said. The three-day downpours also left many public facilities out of service, with six cases of flooded railroads reported in the wider Seoul area, and caused temporary suspension of services in sections of some railway and subway lines.
gara, another activist said. The protestors came under pressure to quit the site after former prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was elected by Parliament to complete Rajapaksa’s fiveyear term until 2024. After his election, Wickremesinghe authorised the military and police to
forcibly dismantle the protest camps and arrest those they identified to have trespassed the presidential palace and other state buildings. On July 22, the security forces removed the protesters from the presidential secretariat and cleared the gate they had occupied since April 9. This came under international criticism. Since then a spate of arrests of activists have raised concern with the main Opposition and rights groups labeling arrests as state repression. The government defended the arrests, saying all those who had been arrested were either those who had defied court orders or those who had forcibly entered state buildings. The police last week notified the protesters to
leave the Galle Face site by August 5, but they defied the order and filed writ applications in the Appeal Court, claiming their right to protest. However, when the protesters quit the Galle Face site it was announced that they had withdrawn the writ applications. The street protests had already culminated last month when Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled to the Maldives and then to Singapore and resigned on July 14 after demonstrators stormed his official home and occupied several key government buildings. His brother Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned as prime minister in May and four other family members had quit as ministers before him.
Japan PM names new Cabinet, shifting some over church ties TOKYO, AUG 10 (AP): Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida reshuffled his Cabinet on Wednesday in an apparent bid to distance his administration from the conservative Unification Church over its ties to the assassinated leader Shinzo Abe and senior ruling party members. The reshuffle was the second in just 10 months since Kishida took office following the July election victory that had been expected to ensure long-term stability until 2025. But Abe’s shocking assassination on July 8 and its impact on politics increased uncertainty as public support for Kishida’s Cabinet plunged. Kishida told reporters Tuesday that a “strict review” of candidates’ ties to the church would be a

“prerequisite” in the new lineup of Cabinet officials and Liberal Democratic Party executives. He said he had instructed his ministers and other senior officials to clarify their connection to the Unification Church “so that we can achieve political and administrative work that can be trusted by the people.” Abe was fatally shot while giving a campaign speech two days before the parliamentary election. Po-
lice and media reports say the suspect targeted Abe over suspected ties to the Unification Church, which the man hated because his mother’s massive financial donations to the church ruined his family. Abe, in his video message to the church affiliate the Universal Peace Foundation, in September 2021, praised its work toward peace on the Korean Peninsula and its focus on family values. Some experts say Abe’s video appearance may have motived the suspect. The ties between the church and Japan’s governing party go back to Abe’s grandfather, Nobusuke Kishi, who served as prime minister and shared U.S. concerns over the spread of communism in Japan in the 1960s.
LONDON, AUG 10 (PTI): Outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has defended leaving his successor, either former Chancellor Rishi Sunak or Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, to deal with the soaring inflation and cost-of-living crisis, saying he is confident the government will have the fiscal firepower and the headroom to look after people. Addressing a Downing Street reception on Tuesday evening, Johnson said he was “absolutely certain” his successor would do more to help people with rising fuel bills. It came as Downing Street had ruled out any fresh government spending commitments during Johnson’s remaining time in office, despite pressure from Opposition parties. “Whoever he or she may be, they, I’m absolutely certain, will be wanting to make some more announcements in September, October about what we’re going to do further in the next period, in

December, January,” Johnson said, with reference to the finalists in the Conservative Party leadership race – Sunak and Truss. “I just want you to know that I’m absolutely confident we will have the fiscal firepower and the headroom to look after people as we’ve done throughout,” he said.
While Truss has promised immediate tax cuts, her rival Sunak has vowed targeted support to provide more money to vulnerable households if elected early next month. But the Opposition Labour Party accused the Conservative government of leaving a “political vacuum” and called on Johnson and the prime ministerial hopefuls not to wait but to act now. At the moment what we have got is bickering in the Conservative party, a race to the bottom amongst the candidates, an absent PM nowhere to be seen,” David Lammy told the BBC.

COLOMBO, AUG 10 (PTI): After 123 days of unprecedented anti-government protests which saw the ouster of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the agitation over the country’s worst economic crisis formally ended on Tuesday, even as the demonstrators said that their campaign for a “system change” would continue. The protesters left the main anti-government protest camp at Galle Face promenade where they had been parked since April 9 branding it as the ‘Gota go home village’ (Rajapaksa go home). “We have collectively decided to quit the Galle Face site today. Osaka retires; Raducanu exits in Toronto

TORONTO, AUG 10 (REUTERS): A tearful Naomi Osaka retired injured and U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu fell at the first hurdle as the top women’s players continued their preparations for Flushing Meadows at the Toronto Open on Tuesday. News of the pending retirement of Serena Williams overshadowed proceedings at the tune-up for the year’s final Grand Slam but there were no shortage of first-round upsets for fans to enjoy, including one by local Bianca Andreescu.
Tw i c e U. S. O p e n champion Osaka, in only her second tournament back from an Achilles injury, battled on gamely before retiring while trailing Kaia Kanepi 7-6(4) 3-0. “I felt my back from the start of the match, and despite trying my best to push through it, I just wasn’t able to today,” said Osaka. Toronto-born Raducanu conceded a tight first set to Camila Giorgi but looked on course to level up the contest when she took a 2-0 lead in the sec-
ond.
The Italian defending champion stormed back to rattle off the last six games with a mix of solid returns, net play and movement, however, easing into the second round 7-6(0) 6-2. “I think it was a really good match, to be honest,” said ninth seed Raducanu. “I just need to get better at dealing with players who play as quick as she does.” Andreescu later delighted a packed house with a 7-6(5) 6-4 victory over Daria Kasatkina in an evening match that left
Olympiad medal winning women players to compete in the Tata Steel Chess
C H E N NA I , AU G 1 0 (IANS): The world’s top women chess players including the members of the Chess Olympiad medal winning teams will be competing in the Women’s Edition of Tata Steel Chess India, said officials here on Wednesday. This is the first time a separate women’s section has been added with the prize money equivalent to that of the Open section. “Tata Steel Chess India (rapid and blitz) is the most important chess tournament in India. In addition to the Open category, this time around a separate Women’s section has been added,” former World Champion Grandmaster V. Anand told media. In the last edition a
couple of Indian women chess players participated in the Open event. Asked as to the option of expanding the tournament having more women players and with category prizes, Anand said such a move would alter the tournament schedules. He said that the rating difference between the men and women players is huge and pairing will be skewed against the women players. “First the upcoming Indian women players should be given the opportunity to play against world’s top women players. Once their rating goes up, they can compete in the Open category,” another official, not wanting to be named, told IANS. Further many female

players like to play in the women’s category than in the Open as the chances of winning the prize money are higher in the former, the official added. Queried when there will be an Indian ‘Judith Polgar’, Anand said it is a work in progress and will happen. Hungarian GM Polgar competed in the Open section in chess tournaments and is the first women player to cross the ELO rating of 2,700 and has several achievements to her credit. Women GMs who have confirmed participation at the Tata Steel Chess India are Anna and Mariya Muzychuk from Ukraine, Nana Dzagnidze from Georgia and Alina Kashlinskaya from Poland apart from Indian stars like GMs K.Humpy, D.Harika and WGM R.Vaishali. According to Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, the event will give young Indian talent the opportunity to play against top international GMs. It is encouraging to witness the increasing level of interest among the Indians for chess, said Jeet Banerjee, Director, Gameplan.

The Canadian, who took the Toronto title in 2019 before winning the U.S. Open, twice called out the trainer, including during the first-set tiebreak, before prevailing in a topsy-turvy match on centre court. “I was honestly a mess,” said the 53rd ranked Andreescu. “I’m so sorry for my attitude, I really do not feel well, I don’t know what it was ... maybe I
ate too much before the match.” There were also first-round wins for 10th seed Coco Gauff, China’s Zheng Qinwen, Belgian Elise Mertens, Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo and Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic. Greek third seed Maria Sakkari stamped out any chance of another upset in the final match of the day, fighting off a comeback from 2017 U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens to take a 6-2 4-6 6-2 victory in a second round tie. The news that sixtimes U.S. Open champion Williams would soon be hanging up her racket dominated talk among players and fans around the complex. “She changed the sport and she did a lot and now she can bow down,” spectator Natalie Chapusette said of the 40-yearold. “It is good news for her, but not for the fans. But if you see the human behind the sportsperson, she deserves it.” Kanepi, however, was unmoved by the news.

Talk with FIFA: SC to Centre on U-17 Women’s WC
NEW DELHI, AUG 10 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the court-appointed Committee of Administrator (CoA) and Centre to hold talks and engage with FIFA to ensure the U-17 Women’s World Football Cup is held in the country. A bench headed by justice DY Chandrachud agreed to consider the case for hearing on Thursday, after it was informed that FIFA threatened to withdraw the hosting rights. Mentioning the matter before the top court, senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan said this is the All India Football Federation Counsel (AIFF) matter and unfortunately, there has been some disturbing development. He added that some entities are interfering with the top court’s order to conduct elections and “we have preferred contempt on behalf of CoA”. The bench asked the counsel to hold the contempt petition for a while, and if any application comes it will be tagged.
The Centre’s counsel submitted that FIFA said that they will withdraw hosting rights and the FIFA’s letter is striking at the very root of the interim order and pointed at an application filed by the government. The bench told the Centre’s counsel that he and his clients would have to engage with FIFA, to ensure that whatever is required is done and the tournament is held. After a brief hearing, the top court agreed to list the matter for hearing on Thursday, and added that the way forward is through dialogue.
The CoA has moved the top court seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against former AIFF president Praful Patel and state associations accusing them of indirectly stalling the court-ordered elections for governing body members. The plea filed by CoA said after the apex court on August 3 had recorded the consensus among the various parties to first conduct the elections to the AIFF in a time-bound fashion and then to finalise the constitution, the state associations have attempted to resile from the same, but
indirectly. “The evidence enclosed with this Contempt Petition would show that Praful Patel who had been removed as President of the AIFF has consistently abused his position as Council Member of FIFA to orchestrate a campaign among the State Associations to undermine the various steps taken by this Hon’ble Court for the betterment of football, including having footballers involved in governance and administration,” added the plea. On August 3, the Supreme Court directed that the interim executive committee for All India Football Federation (AIFF) would be elected not only by 36 state football federations, but also by 36 eminent former football players -- 24 male and 12 female players who played international matches for the country. A bench comprising justices DY Chandrachud and JB Pardiwala directed the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to conduct AIFF elections expedi-
tiously as per the timeline laid down by the CoA and in consonance with the football federation’s draft constitution. The top court clarified that the elected committee would be an interim body, which would continue for a period of three months subject to further orders. The top court asked CoA to hold the election expeditiously to ensure that the Under-17 Women’s World cup is managed by an elected body. The U-17 Women’s World Cup Tournament will commence on October 11, 2022 and India will host it. The top court decided to expedite the election as FIFA requires a democratically-elected body of AIFF to oversee the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The bench declined to entertain the state football federations’ plea that they should only have voting rights, instead it pointed out that even the National Sports Code says that players should be represented in sports federations.

Bayern fans are critical of the deal with the national carrier of the World Cup host nation because Qatar has been criticised for its human rights record, mainly concerning the treatment of migrant workers. “The contract expires in 2023. We have agreed that we will carry out a
detailed analysis after the World Cup. Then we will consider how to proceed,” Hainer told Wednesday’s edition of the Abendzeitung daily. “This is a very common process, with every sponsorship contract we check towards the end how it went and what the future could look like.” The last club members’ assembly in autumn ended with chaotic scenes after the Bayern leadership refused to allow a motion up for a vote calling for an end of the deal with Qatar Airways.
