Polls will take place with or without solution, says Azo DIMAPUR, JUL 12 (NPN): NPF legislature party leader and UDA cochairman Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu said general election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly will take place with or without solution to the Naga political issue. According to NPF press bureau, Azo said this while speaking at the consultative meeting of 17 Chizami assembly constituency NPF office bearers at Pfutsero tourist lodge. Azo said assembly election will have to be held in Nagaland sooner or later. He said polls can be delayed if solution came earlier but

it will go ahead if there was no solution before election. Azo said Nagas cannot go on waiting for solution to the vexed Naga political issue. He said NPF does not support any Naga political group, but maintained equality with all the groups.

Azo said NPF’s main resolution on Naga political issue was for an honourable, acceptable and inclusive solution. Reiterating that regional NPF party took birth because of the Naga political issue, Azo said the party,

therefore, does not belong to any individual or leader, but to the Naga people. Azo said the NPF party, represented Naga identity and so it was deeply rooted in the Naga society unlike the BJP. He said BJP may have deep roots in India, but not in Nagaland. As for NDPP, he said it was only about 5-year-old. On the defection of 21 party MLAs, he said the defected MLAs were not leaders but followers. Azo said “drastic changes” have taken place in the NPF after the defection of 21 MLAs as its party leaders and workers were now more faithful and stronger. Azo

claimed that the position of defected 21 MLAs for the coming election were more secured when they were in the NPF. However, Azo said that after they abandoned the party, “many of them is very doubtful to return.” He also dismissed rumours that with NPF was weakened following the defection of 21 NPF MLAs. Azo claimed that in reality, the story was “totally in contrast” as the NPF grass root was intact. He also maintained that NPF was not one to merge with any other political parties instead other parties could merge with NPF.

KOHIMA, JUL 12 (NPN): Various recommendations contained in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 are being incorporated into the education system in Nagaland that also called for enabling teachers to achieve the desired level of competency such as

adopting new methods and practices. This was stated by commissioner & secretary School Education Kevileno Angami while addressing the oneday seminar titled ‘Creating curricular connection in the classroom vis-à-vis multi-disciplinary approach (NEP 2020)’ organized by Nagaland Board

where teachers play a vital role. Kevileno said society is dependent on teachers to bring about change for adapting towards smooth transition from the old to the new. She said policies and dialogues in the seminar would be of good use and play a crucial role. Earlier in her introductory address chairman Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) Asano Sekhose said the seminar was first postpandemic event and that even during the pandemic NBSE explored all options and possibilities to connect with the students. She said the pandemic has taught a hard lesson on the absence of classrooms connection which led to realisation

that “teachers are the strength of an institution”. Sekhose said the new NEP 2020 focuses on teachers because of which teachers have to relearn, adopt best practices, re-orient, emphasise on the core essentials, conduct oriental training and focus on learning, strengthening on their foundational literacy and emphasize on integrative teaching with less dependency on the teacher. She also suggested that at the higher secondary level, multidisciplinary standards must be brought up, approaching more flexibility on the choice and of the subjects stating that there was still room for improvement.

to delegitimise our legitimate right”. The rambling noises emanating from our own land were polarising the Naga social fabric and created an environment of fear and uncertainty, especially to the younger generations The young Nagas today deserved a peaceful environment to grow and progress in line with the rest of the world, the statement spelt out. NH therefore appealed to all political groups, including civil society organisations, to avoid further counter-press statements targeting each other but sit across the table and thrash out differences to bring about a lasting political solution. It

also urged Nagas to take into account the emerging political dynamic across the globe and the realities of geo politics evolving in Asian theatre and explore new thinking to realise our common aspiration for dignity. “The Naga people’s hope for political solution is for inclusive and honourable settlement at the earliest. We must learn from the past mistakes which must make us wiser today,” the hoho stated, reminding that the wise said “when two brothers fight to death, a stranger inherits their property”. Whatever might be the reasons for misunderstanding and disagreement

among the families, the hoho exhorted the people as fellow compatriots not to fall into the trap of the enemy. It alleged that the adversarial forces was exerting more influences and flexing muscles today through their hegemonic neo-imperialist agenda of cultural entrapment and inducement not because Nagas had lost sight of their political history and rights but because of disunity and divisions within the society by prolonged adversarial strategies that had complicated the complex Naga political issue. NH reminded the Nagas that they were one people wherever they were,

NOA vice president responds DIMAPUR, JUL 12 (NPN): The war of words has intensified between Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and its vice-president K Kire. After NOA claimed to be functioning with “utmost transparency” in response to his charges of financial and other irregularities, Kire in a rejoinder once again questioned the sports body on a number of issues. He asked how many annual general meetings (AGMs) or extraordinary meetings of general assembly, executive council or any committee had been held from 2018 to date. This was in reply to NOA’s claim to

have taken decisions and issued instructions through Executive Council. He said he would like to see the minutes of such meetings and signatories of those who were present at such meetings, what agenda/issues were discussed and what decisions arrived at. He also demanded to know when and where did the executive council convene such meeting to appoint a “registered chartered accountant”. He further claimed that during his tenure as treasurer (till December 2020) not a single audit was carried out for reasons best known to the association. (Full text on p-6) K Y M C
