agencies to target opposition

DIMAPUR, JUN 13 (NPN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has accused BJP of using government agencies like Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), National Investigation Agency (NIA), police, etc, against political opponents in the country. Addressing the media her at Congress Bhavan Monday, NPCC president K Therie said the government agencies were being misused and had become political tools. After BJP came to power, he said the party had been pursuing vendetta politics against its opponents, as almost all politicians in the country raising their voice against injustice, standing for the constitution and speaking for the people had been brought under the

radar of ED, CBI, NIA, etc. “In the past eight years of Narendra Modi’s rule, the government agencies have become political tools that had never happened during Congress rule,” he added. On the summoning of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case, he maintained that there was no exchange of money, apart from exchange of transfer of shares to shareholders. Terming the summon as a political vendetta, he claimed that Rahul was the only leader who had been openly asking Modi questions, which the latter had failed to respond. He
warned that if the citizens continued to live under such leaders, the country would not be able to progress. Therie further wondered what had happened to the CBI investigation with regard to construction of Nagaland High Court complex and the case regarding Enforcement Directorate where five individuals had been summoned in connection with money laundering. He said a memorandum was submitted to the President of India through governor demanding that the Centre be restrained from using government agencies against BJP’s political opponents. (Cont’d on p-8)

Failing which, USM said it would take its own course of action, and “any untoward incident will be dealt with by the concerned department”. Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who has called for an opposition meeting at the Constitution Club in Delhi on Wednesday to discuss a joint strategy for the presidential election. Elections will be held on July 18 for the next President of India and counting, if needed, will be held three days later. BJP has authorised its party chief JP Nadda and Union Minister Rajnath Singh to hold discussions with parties across the spectrum and steer them towards a consensus. DIMAPUR, JUN 13 (NPN): Nagaland In-service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) has demanded clarification from the state government over decisions on superannuation of government doctors at the April 21 cabinet meeting in Kohima. N I DA t h r o u g h i t s president Dr E Phyantsuthung and general secretary Dr Mereninla Senlem expressed appreciation on the government for according urgency and legitimacy to demands of NIDA but at the same time dissented over the usage of the word “reemployment” while raising the superannuation age of doctors from 60 to 62 years.
In a representation to chief minister, NIDA however opposed the cabinet decision and stated that it could not accept it. NIDA said when the cabinet decided to raise the superannuation age of all government medical doctors from 60 to 62 years, why was the contradictory word “re-employment” used? Next, NIDA said when “re-employment” was proposed for all medical doctors why did it not also include those in administrative positions including those in the directorate? NIDA also said when raise in superannuation age has been implemented in most of the north eastern

seeing the video. Although the wildlife crime staff identified the individuals in the video, he said they required more investigation in order to come to a conclusion and bring the accused to book. “We have arrested the
three main accused (the one who shot the bird, one who was torturing and other at whose residence the incident happened),” Tokaho informed. He also said that the gun used in shooting the hornbill has been seized. Expressing disappoint-
ment over the ignorance of some people on wildlife protection despite carrying out plenty of awareness, he said that such incidents reflected poorly on the state. As per Section 51 of Wildlife Act, a person shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term that shall not be less than three years but which may extend to seven years and also with fine. Meanwhile, Bhandari SDPO L Sukumo Kikon informed Nagaland Post that the accused were handed over to the police by the Forest Department officials along with the recovered 12 bore SBBL gun, 11 pieces of the bird’s feathers and
the severed head of the bird. Green SONS condemn: Condemning the killing of the great Indian hornbill, the Green Succession of Nagaland State (Green SONS) has appealed to the responsible authority to take exemplary action against the accused. states, why was it not being implemented in Nagaland ? According to NIDA, any medical officer retiring as additional director rank and above will have hierarchal issues in the district hospital where controlling officer is in the rank of joint director, if the cabinet decision was implemented. Further, NIDA mentioned that two upcoming medical colleges at Kohima and Mon would require 124 doctors while so far there are 40 to 50 in-service doctors eligible and willing to take up difference posts at these two upcoming medical colleges. It said with the exit of such a large number of medical
officers from the state health services to the medical colleges, it would create severe shortage of manpower in the public health facilities of the state health department. NIDA recalled that during the two years of the Covid pandemic, the medical fraternity and frontline workers had served humanity untiringly and given their best to the society. They reiterated and assured continued service to humanity. It therefore, appealed to chief minister to review the cabinet decision at the earliest and consider the original demand of NIDA for increasing the superannuation age of doctors to 62 years for all.
