PCAN dismayed over protest by Nagaland continues to remain among least vaxed states students; backs offline exam D I M A P U R , N OV 2 7 (NPN): Private Colleges Association Nagaland (PCAN) expressed dismay over what it termed as “most unexpected protests by some misguided students” against the conduct of offline UG examinations scheduled to begin from December 3. In a press note, PCAN president Vezuhu Keyho said that the association was also pained by the disruptions of the academic schedule brought about by the pandemic, adversely affecting the delivery of quality education. However, PCAN said holding agitation at this point was unwarranted and
that the association did not agree with the attempt to pressure the University to conduct online mode exam. It reminded that online classes and exams were adopted as extraordinary measures during an extraordinary situation, and cannot become the norm. “The demand for online examination on the argument of “what began online must end online” is a false equivalence, and are not reflective of matured reasoning,” it stated. Rather, PCAN said it will compromise quality, devalue merit and sacrifices the very essence of quality education at the altar of convenience.
It further said that postponing the exams would result in delay of the declaration of the VI semester results and would be disadvantageous to students who wished to apply for admission into PG and allied courses in quality educational institutions. PCAN, therefore, said that the members fully endorse offline exams and in the time frame of the present routine notified by NU. PCAN was of the firm belief that it was in the interest of all stakeholders, and the students being the main section, as they prepare to face the future with competitive environment in all aspects.
