bring a solution as early as possible”. The CCoNPI is also likely to apprise Assam chief minister and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma on the outcome of Saturday’s meeting so as to take it forward to the Centre. Mishra the government of India’s representative for Naga talks. He also said the committee will also request the Centre to continue talks and
that highlights of Saturday’s meeting will be forwarded to the Centre so as to “pursue further negotiations”. When approached NSCN (I-M) representatives were unwilling to talk to the media. Besides CCoNPI convenor and chief minister Neiphiu Rio, the delegation included- co-convenors: deputy chief minister Y. LH backs Jamir, others on Naga political issue D I M A P U R , M AY 2 8 (NPN): Lotha Hoho(LH) said that it was fully convinced that various statements by veteran Naga politician Dr. S.C. Jamir, about the reality of the Naga settlement, in his interview with various media outlets, were “all facts and what Nagas have to realise and accept.” L H c h a i r m a n E r. Mhondamo Ovung and general secretary S. Aben Ngullie further mentioned that the same facts were also explained by other prominent leaders such as -deputy chief minister Y. Patton; H&TE minister Temjen Imna Along, NPF Legislature Party Leader Kuzholuzo(Azo) Nienu etc. LH said all of them had also conveyed, not their personal views; but the fact of the
matter. Further , LH has put on record its support to the recent statements made by the Ao Senden, UngmaVillage, Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, Watsu Mundang, Soyim Students’ Union, Sumi Hoho, AKM and others. LH said that the Naga issue does not pertain to any particular tribe or group alone, but all Nagas, particularly of Nagaland. LH has therefore, urged upon all concerned to raise their voices for the truth. “Yes, it is now made plain that integration, constitution and flag are all not feasible in the Phase-I Naga solution,” LH stated. It maintained that these issues were only to be pursued democratically, in the post phase-I settlement.
Lotha Hoho also pointed out that after 25 years of negotiation, most stakeholders were impatient and that the process of negotiations has formally completed on the October 31,2019. Therefore, the hoho stated, “most competencies are finalised and only the loose ends are to be trimmed, for final presentation to the Nagas for acceptance, correction and deletion (if any).” LH said Nagas have shed much blood for long and have endured many storms and were now willing to pursue democratically; whatever unresolved issues remain to be settled. “We need to also understand that any settlement cannot satisfy everyone’s aspiration; but majority
IndiGo fined `5L over handling of specially abled child NEW DELHI, MAY 28 (AGENCIES): IndiGo airlines has been fined Rs. 5 lakh for not allowing a boy with special needs to board a flight from Ranchi. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the country’s top regulator for air travel, said that a probe had found that “the handling of the special child by the Indigo ground staff was deficient and ended up exacerbating the situation”. “A more compassionate handling would have smoothened the nerves, calmed the child and would have obviated the need for the extreme step resulting in denied boarding to the passengers,” it said in a
statement. “Special situations deserve extraordinary responses but the Airline staff failed to rise up to the occasion and in the process committed lapses in adherence to the letter and spirit of the Civil Aviation Requirements (Regulations),” the statement said, adding that the competent authority has decided to impose a penalty of Rs.5 lakh on the airline. The regulator added that to prevent such situations, it shall revisit its regulations and bring about necessary changes. The ground staff ’s refusal to allow the child from boarding the aircraft had drawn widespread criticism,
prompting the aviation regulator to launch a probe. The matter came to light after Manisha Gupta, a passenger on the RanchiHyderabad flight on May 7, narrated the ordeal of the child and her parents as the crew refused to let them board. In a social media post that went viral, Gupta said the IndiGo manager kept shouting and telling everyone that the “child is uncontrollable”. She said other passengers rallied around the family and urged them to let them fly but to no avail. Responding to the outrage, IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta had said in a statement that they were
“forced to make a difficult decision”. “Throughout the check-in and boarding process our intent of course was to carry the family, however, at the boarding area the teenager was visibly in panic. While providing courteous and compassionate service to our customers is of paramount importance to us, the airport staff, in line with the safety guidelines, were forced to make a difficult decision as to whether this commotion would carry forward aboard the aircraft,” he said. The family, said the airline, was provided a hotel stay, and they flew the next morning to their destination.
decision must prevail,” LH reiterated. LH also reminded that the Naga political movement had taken roots in the Lotha soil and that Lotha people have sacrificed many lives and have suffered much like any Naga adding that the Lotha Hoho has fully supported the Naga national movement and pursuit for settlement. Therefore, LH affirmed that the Lotha people “will not allow anyone to mislead the Nagas and all competencies, said to have been finalised, should be presented to the Nagas for acceptance, correction or rejection.” The terms “Honourable”, “Acceptable” and “Inclusive” need to be clearly defined any ambiguity to mislead the Nagas is not permissible, LH asserted.
