Union Health Secretar y Rajesh Bhushan issued the advisory through a letter to states and UTs, referring to the ‘Operational Guidelines for Revised Surveillance Strategy in context of COVID-19’ issued by the Centre on June 9. Bhushan asked them to implement the revised strategy which focuses on early detection and timely management of sus-
pected and confirmed cases, and the containment of outbreaks of new coronavirus variants. Bhushan said the June 9 strategy was issued with the long-term vision to fully integrate COVID-19 surveillance within existing Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) mechanism. Summarising the actions that states need to take, Bhushan said they should ensure “Surveillance of Incoming International Travelers which will include random screening of 2 per cent of passengers in each incoming flight into India by RT-PCR”. He asked them that all positive specimens should be sent for genome sequencing and such passengers should be advised isolation and clinically managers as per
prevailing guidelines. Five per cent of ILI cases shall be tested through RT-PCR, he said. Health facilities should ensure monitoring of Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) cases in all district hospitals and selected tertiary hospitals and undertake their RT-PCR test for Covid, he said. State IDSP shall share this data on a fortnightly basis and the lab testing for COVID-19 should upload their data on Indian Council for Medical Research portal, he said.

Central NPP rubbishes ‘mass resignation’ claims TUD affirms on ‘one people, one nation’ Staff Reporter
DIMAPUR, JUN 29 (NPN): A day after several members of the National People’s Party (NPP) State unit resigned “en mass”, its national secretary Sushil Huidrom rushed to Nagaland to take stock of the situation and said it was not a serious issue but rather the resignation of the “so-called NPP members” was good for the party. Addressing the media here, Huidrom rubbished the claims and said that the party was not bothered about their resignation, adding that they were in fact happy that these leaders and workers had left

the party. He reiterated that the Central leadership has not taken this matter seriously, but was rather happy to note that the NPP State unit was doing well. NPP State president Dr Andrew Ahoto, who too was present, also asserted that the party was least bothered about the resigna-
tion by a “handful” of party functionaries as they did not even constitute 2% of the party’s total strength. He also termed the claim made by those who had resigned on Tuesday that around 80% of the party functionaries would be resigning as a “big joke” as they made a mockery of
themselves. Claiming that the party functionaries who had resigned were in fact a dissident group, he said they would have been in any case suspended from the party sooner or later due to the anti-party activities that they had been carrying out for the past many months in order to topple the party’s State leadership due to their ulterior and selfish designs. Ahoto claimed that the “dissident group” had been trying to remove him from the post of party president since November last year, adding that signature campaigns were being carried out in this (Cont’d on p-8) regard.
DIMAPUR, JUN 29 (NPN): Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) Wednesday declared its decision to stand on the political principle of “one people, one Nation” (without border) taken by AZ Phizo based on the ideals of the 1951 plebiscite. In a press release, TUD president Vekhosayi Nyekha and vice president Luangbe Zeliang said the union unanimously adopted the resolution during a consultative meeting held on June 28, 2022. The union said the decision was taken in view of the developing situation arising out of the ongoing political talks between the Government of India
and various Naga national groups. Expressing concern over the political development taking place in Naga homeland in recent times, the union, therefore, stated that any settlement/solution should be acceptable, honourable and inclusive of all Nagas and groups. On the formation of Nagaland People’s Action Committee (PAC) under the aegis of NGBF, the TUD said it has viewed the development with all seriousness. The union stated that GBs, being agents and appointees of the government, had no authority to initiate such programmes, which it maintained “may further divide
the Nagas when every section of the society longs for permanent peace.” TUD has, therefore, resolved not to participate in any programme organized by NPAC. It also appealed to every rightthinking citizen to refrain from participation in any such programmes, which it said “may be detrimental to peace and tranquillity.” The meeting was attended by TUD officials, representatives of affiliated tribal units and frontal organizations including Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur, Tenyimi Women Union Dimapur and Tenyimi Youth Organisation Dimapur.
