La. Ganesan has extended warm greetings to the people of Nagaland on the occasion of Holi and wished everyone a colourful and happy celebration.
In his message, Ganesan described Holi as a festival of social harmony, which brings joy and hope. “Holi festival with its vibrant colours accentuates positivity and the triumph of good over evil,” governor said. minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Nagaland Governor La Ganesan administered the oath of secrecy to Rio and nine ministers (See Pics) at the swearing-in ceremony held at Capital Cultural Hall here.
As reported by Nagaland Post, BJP was given five cabinet berths while NDPP kept seven berths including that of the chief minister. The swearing also consisted
of two other notable firsts. It is for the first time in Nagaland that a woman (Salhoutuonuo Kruse) who won on her maiden entry into state politics, was sworn-in as cabinet minister. It was also the first time that two deputy chief ministers- TR Zeliang (NDPP) and Y Patton (BJP) were sworn-in.
After filling up all 12 cabinet berths(the maximum permissible for small states
under the 91st Amendment Act) sources said that Rio will be allocating the portfolios to the cabinet ministers within a day or two. Though it is the prerogative of the chief minister, yet hectic lobbying was reported as the newly appointed cabinet ministers want key and lucrative portfolios. Chief Minister Rio will also have to accommodate the remaining 18 MLAs
from the NDPP and seven from the BJP for appointment as advisors who would be expecting desired portfolios. A balanced and equitable distribution of portfolios is key to running a smooth coalition of which Rio has the experience to handle.
Earlier, the programme began with the national anthem rendered by Music Academy, Kohima (TAFMA) and Police Band.
Invocation was pronounced by Kohima Ao Baptist Church pastor Temjenmongba Sempo. Highlights of the programme included ‘Hallelujah’ Chorus by Cantamus Choir (TAFMA) and ‘This is me’ by Bright Lights (TAFMA). The programme was attended by a host of senior State government officials, tribal leaders, political party leaders and prominent citizens.

DIMAPUR, MAR 7 (NPN): NSCN (I-M) has demanded release of all Naga political prisoners of war (NPPoW) held by India and Myanmar. In a statement issued through its MIP, NSCN (I-M) alleged that India and Myanmar illegally occupied Naga country and systematically framed the conflict as an internal issue, viewing the Nagas defending their own country as a security threat to their respective countries. It claimed that the conflict had resulted in detention of numerous Nagas by the respective governments, many of whom had been labelled as “insurgents”,

NSF demonstration for solution on PM’s visit to Kohima
Correspondent
KOHIMA, MAR 7 (NPN): Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) staged demonstrations at various locations in Kohima coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Tuesday.
Students from various institutions displayed placards at several locations of the town, including Old MLA junction, Phoolbari and NSF Martyrs’ Park.
NSF is asking the Central government to be serious and show utmost sincerity in ensuring an inclusive, honourable, early and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga
political issue. Interacting with a section of media persons , NSF president Kegwayhun Tep said the federation felt that the Naga
political issue has been “almost forgotten”. He said through the demonstration, NSF wanted to remind the newly-
elected
and not use the genuine and legitimate Naga political issue as a “mere political gambit”.
NSF said the demonstration was also a reminder to the Naga negotiators that Naga youth and student community were yearning for a lasting peace across Naga homeland and that generations that would inherit the solution would no longer tolerate division within themselves.
Tep recalled that the BJP had advocated “election for solution” in the past but lamented that five years lapsed since then, but no solution was visible.

Myanmar’s illegal occupation into question.
According to NSCN (IM), the international community should remain committed to the right approach of promoting peace talks, assist India, Nagalim and Myanmar in the conflict, and create conditions and platforms for the three entities to resume negotiations or call for an immediate withdrawal of occupying forces from Nagalim.
Further, NSCN (I-M) also questioned that if it was a terrorist organisation, why India was holding political negotiations with it for more than two decades now and why the negotiations had
taken place at the highest political levels. Referring to India’s commitment to the November 18, 2002 memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in Milan, Italy, that clearly stated and understood that NSCN/ GPRN was not a terrorist organisation, the group reasoned that if this was the case, why its members or Nagas were being held on terror funding charges.
It also asked why India signed the Framework Agreement on August 3, 2015, that recognised the Naga issue as an Indo-Naga “political conflict” and was signed as two entities.
