SAN FRANCISCO, APR 3 (AGENCIES): An egg icon that for years marked profiles of new Twitter users was gone Monday, a victim of “trolls” who often hid behind them to launch anonymous online attacks. For seven years, anyone who created a Twitter account automatically got an egg icon as their profile picture. “This was a playful way to reference how eggs hatch into birds that send all the Tweets you see on Twitter!” Twitter said in an online post. “Trolls” who created accounts just to fire off abusive comments were known to leave eggs unchanged as well. New profile icon is a generic silhouette of a person, slightly reminiscent of a small egg atop a larger one.

Reports stated that hailstones damaged roofs of several houses in interior Churachandpur district while strong winds have blown away roofs and brought houses to the ground in hill districts of Tamenglong, Senapati and several parts of valley districts, particularly in twin Imphal districts. Hailstones that lashed Churachandpur district punched holes in tin roofs of over 20 houses in Mullaum village under Singhat sub-division of the district. The roofs were extensively

In Noney district, over 50 houses were damaged by the strong winds that blew away roofs besides dragging some houses to ground. Hailstorm not only uprooted trees and electric poles but also triggered landslide. Extensive damages of dwelling structures were also reported from Mao area of Senapati bordering Nagaland and Kangpokpi districts of the state. Strong wind further damaged several houses in

In Imphal West, roofs of around 100 houses in Lamphel area were blown away by the strong wind that lashed last night which was followed by heavy rains. There were reports of damage caused to roofs of several structures including residences from Imphal East district. The entire Imphal East and parts of Imphal West districts experienced total blackout on Monday as high tension towers and electric poles were uprooted in several areas. ISIS says Russia bombing ‘a Metro to Hell for the Worshipers of the Cross’ Soon after the bombing, it was reported that an ISIS supporter on the terror group’s al-Minbar online forum wrote-- “We ask Allah to bless the operation by the lions of the Caliphate, we ask Allah to kill the Crusaders.” Another wrote that the bombing created “a metro to hell for the worshipers of the Cross” and claimed that the attacks were revenge for Russia’s attacks on ISIS in Syria’s civil war. The apparent terror attack on a St. Petersburg subway train may just be the latest in a string of deadly Islamist attacks inside Russia.
DIMAPUR, APR 3 (NPN): Lotha Hoho (LH) has accused the state government of discrimination against Wokha district in the the distribution of funds for renovation and maintenance of road during the last three years 2014-17. LH said that during the period, Wokha district was allotted Rs. 370 lakh which was much lesser than funds allotted to subdivisions. (See table on Road Fund Distribution for 2014 -2017) LH chairman Mhao Humtsoe and general secretary Er. Mhondamo Ovung questioned the state government and Lotha legislators as to what were the reasons for the “utter discrimination”?. They said that fund allocations with normal variations were understandable, but the variation was beyond logic. LH also wanted to know on what basis the funds for the various years were distributed. According to LH, if funds were distributed on the basis of area, Wokha with an area of 1628 sq kms, is fourth largest, after Kohima, Phek and Mon and on the basis of population, it has a population of 1,66,239 as per 2011 census, the sixth, after Dimapur, Kohima, Mon, Tuensang & Mokokchung. Also, LH said if distributed on the basis of road length, Wokha has got one of the longest road lengths, with one National Highway (NH 61/2) and two state Highways, namely Wokha -Merapani road with a road length of 62kms and Wokha-Bokajan road with a road length of more than 94 kms. In this regard, the apex Lotha body has asked

whether the state govt and Lotha MLAs can explain to the Nagas, as to why Wokha district was discriminated? Or was it because the chief minster or the finance minister or the PWD minister was non- Lotha? The hoho also wanted to know whether government would allot fund to Wokha district for renovation and maintenance of roads? Since Wokha - Merapani road has recently been declared as NH (after having been neglected by the state govt for the last many years), the hoho asked the government why not renovate the Wokha - Bokajan road, which had been abandoned, after BRO left about a decade ago? The hoho stand was that this road, directly connects Wokha with Dimapur has a prospective for the
Delhi Metro on high alert after Russia blast New Delhi, Apr 3 (PTI): Security measures in the Delhi Metro have been stepped up with commuters made to undergo a thorough frisking in the wake of an explosion in a subway train in Russia that killed at least 10 people. Officials said the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), tasked to secure over 150 stations of the rapid rail network with a daily footfall of about 26 lakh people, has issued orders to exercise the “highest possible measure of alert” by strengthening regular security drills and undertaking pat-down (complete) search of the passengers. They said all entry and exit points of
the Delhi Metro stations will be effectively secured in close coordination with the Delhi police and Metro authorities. Special instructions, they said, have been issued to effectively and minutely scan the luggage of the commuters at all the stations, especially which receive a heavy passenger load and at inter-change stations like Kashmere Gare or Rajiv Chowk. Intensive “sweeping” of the stations with the help of anti-sabotage gadgets and canine squads will be undertaken, they said, adding armed commando teams of CISF’s quick reaction teams will be on all-time alert.

district, as most commercial and activities are carried out via Dimapur. However, the road from Bokajan to Wokha bypassed Ralan and was diverted to Botsa (Touphema village) and given to BRO. It therefore wanted to know why the road was diverted, “just because the village happens to be that of a former CM of Nagaland. Is this not unfair to give priority to a village and bypass the district headquarter?” LH has asked Lotha MLAs to speak for rights of the Lotha people, as they have been elected by the people to stand for their rights. It further reminded the MLAs, that the Hoho would not accept the argument that MLAs should adhere to the political party’s whip/directives/decisions; as they represent the rights of the people.
crore in one of the department involving four cases. CAG in its report state that timely submission of utilization certificates (UCs) was a major
concern. It said till March 2016, 76 UCs with the total amounting to Rs. 145.98 crore were pending for submission even after a lapse of one to five years from various departments. It also said though the accounts of state autonomous bodies and departmental commercial undertakings were overdue, those accounts were not submitted to audit. The CAG’s conclusion was that non-submission of accounts in time disclosed non-compliance with financial rules. It may be noted that financial rules provide that for the grants provided for specific purposes, UCs should be obtained by the departmental officers from the grantees and after verification, these are to be forwarded to the AG (A&E) within 12 months from the date of their sanction unless specified otherwise.
