KOHIMA, JUL 9 (NPN): In a counter move aimed at check-mating the rebel MLAs, Nagaland chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Sunday sacked four ministers and 10 parliamentary secretaries with immediate effect. In addition, the NPF Central has also suspended 10 members from active and primary membership. A notification dated July 9, issued by the additional chief secretary, Temjen Toy stated that Nagaland Governor, on the recommendation of the chief minister terminated the appointment of four legislators as ministers with immediate effect. (See Table) With the sacking four senior NPF legislators, Dr. Shürhozelie is now left with seven cabinet ministers-- six NPF (Kiyanilie Peseyie, Yitachu, Vikheho Swu, Chotisuh Sazo, C.L. John and P. Logon) and one BJP legislator- Paiwang Konyak. In another notification issued on July 8 by the cabinet secretary, Pankaj Kumar, the chief minister terminated the appointment of 10 parliamen-
JCC slams ‘indisciplined’ legislators Staff Reporter
DIMAPUR, JUL 9 (NPN): Taking serious note on the current political crisis in the state, Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) during an emergency meeting held on Sunday evening, demanded that the legislators stop the “hide and seek game” for their personal interest at the cost of the Naga public. J C C m e m b e r s ex pressed utter dismay by the “indisciplined action” of the legislators in undermining the essence of democracy by bringing shame and disgrace to the entire state. JCC said that the legislators elected by the people, have forgotten the mandate of the public and have been “wandering and loitering around as gypsies”, thereby exhibiting their shallowness. Further, JCC said the irresponsible actions of the MLAs have only proven their immaturity, lack of vision and hunger for power and position. Meanwhile, JCC has called for a meeting on July 11 at 4 p.m. at Chakhesang Hoho building, Dimapur to hold consultation with the apex tribal hohos. It also invited Phom People’s Council to discuss on the issue with regard to payment of compensation.

tary secretaries with immediate effect. (See Table) All powers of the four ministers and 10 parliamentary secretaries have been seized and all the affected departments are to put up all files that require the perusal/approval to the chief minister through the chief secretary with immediate effect. This was stated in a directive issued by the additional chief secretary, Temjen Toy on July 9.
In another directive issued to the DGP Nagaland by the CMO, commissioner & secretary to CM, I. Himato Zhimomi has asked police chief to withdraw all security escorts provided to the ministers and parliamentary secretaries who have been sacked with immediate effect. The development comes in the wake of a letter written by former chief minister, T.R. Zeliang to Nagaland Governor, P.B. Acha-
rya staking claim to form a new NPF-led DAN government with the support of 34 NPF MLAs including him and seven Independent legislators. As the fight between the two opposing sides heighten, the stalemate will continue till Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya returned to Kohima on July 13. As per reports, another NPF legislator from Kohima joined the Kaziranga camp on Sunday, taking the tally of support to T.R. Zeliang to 42 (35 NPF and 7 Independent legislators). CM has support of PM, says NPF central: Interestingly, NPF Central on Sunday claimed that chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu had the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. NPF sources claimed that “Modi does not want Dr. Liezietsu’s ministry to be disturbed.”When contacted BJP sources could not confirm the support extended by Modi to Dr. Liezietsu. However, BJP sources said that the party MLAs have been clearly directed to maintain a neutral stand since it was an internal party issue of the NPF.
T.R. Zeliang and 9 others suspended
DIMAPUR, JUL 9 (NPN): Based on the recommendation of the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC), NPF working presidents- Apong Pongener and Huskha Yepthomi- have suspended the primary and active membership of 10 senior NPF legislators-- T.R. Zeliang, Y. Patton, C. Kipili Sangtam, G. Kaito Aye, Imkong L. Imchen, Shetoyi, Nuklutoshi, Deo Nukhu, Naiba Konyak and Dr. Benjongliba Aier from the party for “anti-party activities” with effect from July 8 and until further orders. The DAC took the decision at its July 8 meeting after concluding that the members had revolted against the party’s chief minister by going against the party government to destabilize the NPF-led DAN government and demanding the resignation of the chief minister, without the knowledge of the party. The functionaries also stated that the Legislator Party of the NPF and the Central Executive Council also resolved to support the bye-election of the chief minister, who is also the party president. However, they said the members, who were a “party to the resolution”, instead indulged in anti-party activities against the byeelection by demanding the resignation of Dr. Shurhozelie Lizietsu as the chief minister. 41 legislators demand Shürhozelie’s resignation
DIMAPUR, JUL 9 (NPN): Forty-one legislators (34 NPF and 7 Independent) led by former chief minister, T.R. Zeliang have demanded immediate resignation of incumbent chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, stating that he has lost the democratic mandate of the elected representatives of the 12th house of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. In a joint statement, the MLAs maintained that despite India being a democratic polity with a distinct constitution, it was for the “first time” in its history that the parliamentary democracy was being “massacred” by Dr. Shürhozelie when he continued to cling to the chair with the support of only ten MLAs in a house of 60. The signatories said this clearly demonstrated Dr. Liezietsu’s “lack of conscience and public immorality” unbecoming of a seasoned and veteran politician. Those who signed the statement included: T.R. Zeliang, Y. Patton, G. Kaito Aye, Dr. N. Kire, Deo Nukhu, Tokheho Yepthomi, EE Pangteang, Merentoshi R. Jamir, C Kipili Sangtam, S Hukavi Zhimomi, Neiba Kronu, CM Chang, Namri Nchang, Dr. Benjongliba Aier, Dr. Longrineken, Kropol Vitsu, Zhaleo Rio, Shetoyi Sema, E Eshak Konyak, L Khumo Khiam, Nuklutoshi, SI Jamir, Pukhayi Sumi, Tovihoto Ayemi, Kejong Chang, Naiba Konyak, S Pangnyu Phom, C Apok Jamir, Imkong L. Imchen, Imtikumzuk, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, Vik-
ho-o Yhoshu, BS Nganlang, Pohwang, Thomas Ngullie, Amenba Yaden, Er. Levi Rengma, S. Chuba Longkumer, Toyang Changkong Chang, Er. Picto Shohe and Y.M. Yollow. The signatories disclosed that even if Dr. Liezietsu was not an elected member, they had “graciously made him the CM for a period of only 6 months” but during the short period, he had shown his “true colors of power mongering and nepotism” which they said, was against the concept of Indian democratic tradition. They further accused Dr. Liezietsu, that as NPF president he resorted to all undemocratic and inconceivable methods of a dictator by suspending party MLAs and dropping ministers and parliamentary secretaries who have been duly mandated by the people of Nagaland to govern them. “His sense of jealousy against the popularly elected MLAs is yet again clearly exposed,” they added. Despite Dr. Liezietsu’s actions and motives being beyond human tolerance, the signatories said that as the elected representatives they “hereby appeal to the respected people of Nagaland to kindly bear with us as we are actively processing the formation of a popular government at the earliest.” They reminded the people that their “sole aim and objective is to deliver to the people’s needs” and therefore demanded that Dr. Shurhozelie to step down from the chair of the chief minister with immediate.
NPF destroyer of Nagaland, agent of RSS: AICC secretary DIMAPUR, JUL 9(NPN): All India Congress Committee secretary in-charge of Nagaland Dr. Jayakumar has launched a scathing attack against the NPF which was described as “destroyer of Nagaland” and “an agent of RSS.” Dr. Jayakumar hit hard at NPF, which used to boast of being the oldest regional party by accusing it of totally destroying Nagaland during its 14-year rule. He said NPF is a party of defectors that came to power by engineering defections from other parties such as in 2003 and later 2008. The AICC secretary also accused NPF of hoodwinking people of Nagaland with promises which they never delivered. He said on political issue, NPF in 2003 promised solution within one month of coming to power but it has failed. He
also took a jibe at NPF’s earlier penchant for coining slogans- “Year of Youth”; “Year of Farmers”; “Year of Music” etc which made no impact. Even the slogan “Nagaland: Land of Festivals” in reality turned into “Nagaland: Land of Corruption”, he said. Dr. Jayakumar also said the road-show tamasha of the “fun loving NPF” has only left behind pot-holed roads that earned the state ridicule both in India and abroad. He also asked what happened to hundred of crore rupees meant for roads. Dr. Jayakumar also pointed out that the NPF government passed the same amount of funds for the same works twice in the budget to siphon off funds. He also said in one instance funds were released for road works which were not undertaken.
Hitting out at NPF relationship with RSS, Dr.Jayakumar said after destroying Nagaland morally, physically and financially, NPF was acting as an agent of RSS (which vowed to uproot Christians from ‘Bharat” and describing Christians and Muslims as being from another planet). Hitting out at NPF’s double standard, he said the party used to shout against ‘high command culture’ but today, the NPF has become servants of RSS high command as NPF leaders have to seek blessings of RSS leaders either in Guwahati or Delhi. Dr.Jayakumar claimed that even in the current crisis within NPF, both T.R. Zeliang and Neiphiu Rio have come together and have been given the green signal by the BJP-RSS to take over NPF.
