India test-fires indigenous AAD
Advanced Area Defence Endo-Atmospheric Interceptor Missile.
DRDO has conducted this exercise for the second time in less than a month. An official said, “Today’s test launch was conducted in order to validate various parameters of the interceptor in flight mode.” In today’s trial in Balasore (Odisha), the interceptor missile was fired at a target in the form of a Prithvi missile (which played the role of a hostile missile) launched from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, which was launched at 10.10 in the morning. According to officials, who provided an insight into the dramatic launch, after about four minutes the interceptor, Advanced Air Defence (AAD) missile, which was stationed at Abdul Kalam Island in the Bay of Bengal, received signals from radars about the incoming rogue missile. The interceptor was launched and managed to destroy the incoming hostile missile in mid-air. DRDO claimed a huge success and said, “The mission was excellent and it was a direct hit.” DRDO explained that the interceptor missile is 7.5-meter long, single stage
solid rocket propelled guided missile, that carries a navigation system, a hi-tech computer and an electromechanical activator. It also has its own mobile launcher, secure data link for interception, independent tracking and homing capabilities aside from radars. ISRO had on February 15 successfully placed a world record 104 satellites into space that included 101 foreign satellites and three Indian ones on in a single launch on the sturdy and reliable PSLV-XL ((Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) rocket to cement the country’s position as a space tech global leader. Thereafter, except for 2 Indian nano satellites, all the rest 102 satellites have been reported as fully functioning in their desired orbits. India had gone past Russia’s 37 in terms of the number of satellites launched by a single rocket achieved in 2014 that it had managed by using a modified inter-continental ballistic missile. In June 2016, India had achieved a national record after sending as many as 20 satellites into space in one launch.
Hard work more powerful NPCC slams Zeliang for than Harvard: PM Modi playing communal card MAHARAJGANJ (UP), MAR 1 (PTI): Mocking economists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said “hard work is more powerful than Harvard” as the latest GDP data shows demonetisation did not affect growth rate, rather the figures improved. “On the one hand are those (critics of note ban) who talk of what people at Harvard say and on the other hand is a poor man’s son who through his hard work is trying to improve the economy,” he said at an election meeting here. “In fact, hard work is much more powerful than Harvard” he said without elaborating. His remark came against the backdrop of Professor of Economics and Philosophy at Harvard University and Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen terming demonetisation as a “despotic action that has struck at the root of economy based on trust”. The government had yesterday pegged GDP growth at a higher-thanexpected 7.1% for 2016-17 despite the cash blues, which was higher than China’s 6.8% for Oct-Dec period of 2016, making India retain

the tag of the world’s fastest growing economy. Coming back to electoral politics in Uttar Pradesh, Modi said the electorate has already ensured BJP’s victory in the first five phases and now they would give surplus votes as “gift and bonus” in the remaining two rounds. “I request the voters of the state to give the rest of the two phases as bonus to the party. This is similar to the chillies and coriander leaves, which the vegetable seller gives to the buyer as bonus,” he said. Earlier, Modi spoke on the possibility of a hung assembly in UP, saying SP and BSP were waiting for such an opportunity for bargaining, prompting chief minister Akhilesh to comment that after dreaming of 300 plus seats, Modi was now talking about fractured verdict.
DIMAPUR, MAR 1 (NPN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) through its media cell has hit out at statements made by “recently deposed chief minister T.R. Zeliang and Education minister Yitachu” over the option of using central forces and T.R. Zeliang alleging he was a victim because he belonged to a minority tribe (Zeliang) and claiming the high command of NPF is the people. NPCC said the option to use central forces exposed “their hollow mindset” that had no respect for the voices and sentiments of the people. NPCC pointed out that the entire ULB election was a fiasco resulting in loss of lives and damage to property that could have been averted had the NPF leaders “tactfully handled the simmering situation.” On T.R. Zeliang claiming he was a victim only because he belonged to a minority tribe, NPCC said it by claiming so, he (Zeliang) has only brought disrepute on himself. In the first instance, how did T.R. Zeliang become chief minister? asked

DIMAPUR, MAR 1 (NPN): Alleging diversion of fund (sanctioned by MHRD) by State government was the reason behind irregular/ delay in payment of salary to Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan (RMSA) teachers, the Nagaland RMSA Teachers Association (NRMSATA) has asked State government to retract the funding process from the finance department. In this regard, NRMSATA president Renbemo L Patton and general secretary Kezhothito Keyho sought chief minister intervention and necessary action. NRMSATA stand was that in the initial stage when CSS programme SSA, RMSA etc. were introduced in the State, teachers were paid their salary on time and if delayed only for one to two months, as the fund sanctioned by MHRD was directly account-
ed to the responsible sections/departments. However, payment got delayed after State government diverted the fund to finance and planning department where fund for CSS employees were kept in Government Civil Deposit to maintain minimum balance in the state exchequer. N R M S ATA a l s o slammed the “lackadaisical attitude” of the state government in not following the guidelines and procedure lay down by the MHRD that led to frequent delay in release of salary. According to NRMSATA, in order to avail the next instalment, the responsible department has to prepare utilization certificate (UC) and submit it to MHRD, to prove that the sanctioned amount has been utilized. RMSA central body also asked State government to give its due 10% share on time.

This included over 400 deaths in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “The country averaged monthly mean temperature during January 2017 was also significantly above normal with anomalies of 0.67 degree Celsius, which is the warmest ever since 1901,” the IMD said. Er. Vekho asserted that Netaji promised empowerment, employment and development as rights to the villagers after achieving sovereignty from the British. He was accompanied by secretary, Dupoyi Nyekha and advisor NSCBDS Phek, Kuvehu Soho.

NPCC. Instead T.R. Zeliang ought to be grateful to legislators for giving him the opportunity to head the government and therefore, his speech at Tamenglong revealed his pettiness and negative attitude unbecoming of the position he hold, said NPCC. NPCC said playing the minority card was a desperate attempt to polarize people on communal lines and cautioned T.R. Zeliang that he should know that playing with fire could also burn his hands instead of others. NPCC also said T.R. Zeliang repeated talks that he sacrificed the chair of the CM was hollow since he was forced out of the chair after all legislators abandoned him. Instead of leaving gracefully, NPCC said T.R.Zeliang has only shown his “hunger for power and position” by accepting the unconstitutional post of Advisor with cabinet status to continue in power. However by doing so, T.R.Zeliang had demeaned the office of the chief minister he occupied for 32 months said NPCC.
