NEW DELHI, MAR 29 (PTI): CPI (M) today questioned the Centre for not making public full text of Naga Peace Accord signed two years ago. CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury referred to NSCN (I-M) leader Th. Muivah’s reported comment that the group’s framework agreement signed with the Centre promises integration of all Naga territories and wondered why Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not release the full text of the accord to “bring out the truth”. “Muivah claims that the framework agreement that Modi signed with him promises ‘integration of all Naga territories’. But we can’t verify it. “Why have the terms of the accord not been released for two years? Why doesn’t PM release the full text to bring out the truth?” Yechury asked on Twitter. Muivah had reportedly said earlier this week that ‘Greater Nagalim’ will have Naga-inhabited areas in Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh as part of the larger Nagaland state as per agreement signed on August 3, 2015.

Budget an ‘empty plate’, says NPCC Correspondent

K OHIMA , MAR 2 9 (NPN): Drawing attention to the deficit amounting to Rs. 1437.84 (2017-18) in the budget presented by chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie on March 28, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) said the government showed an empty plate to the people. Speaking to Nagaland Post, NPCC president K. Therie said the deficit of Rs. 1437.84 which will be added with civil deposit (as the government does not have the cash) the figure might cross more than Rs. 2500 crore to 2600 crore . He maintained that Rs. 16,365.17 crores budgeted for 2017-18 was meant for 60 MLAs and chief bureaucrats and that not a single paisa will reach the villagers. Therie slammed the state government for failing to control the illegal appointments which would rather increase spending under non plan expenditure by more than 80% (which was supposed to be 40% for salaries in other states). Therie also criticized ministers, parliamentary secretaries for

hiking up their salaries and perks and this showed they were no longer legislators or lawmakers any more. He also pointed out that there were too many retired officers re-employed as consultants and this has only pushed Nagaland government financially from bad to worse. Therie also added that according to the current financial situation, there were no possibilities of implementing 7th RoP since government does not have money. He also took a dig at the delegations of state legislators meeting every central leader with Naga shawls and flowers but that the state government did not get a single penny as special plan assistance or for non plan. Instead, Therie said government has run short of central share of taxes. He said Nagas must no longer remain silent but must speak else generation future will be finished. Meanwhile, speaking on condition of anonymity lest the disciplinary hammer hits him, one of the MLAs when contacted said the budget was not exactly a budget document.

NPF howfour GST Bills, on p-7) ever said the unholy nexus would be short-lived since “their ego would not take them long to clash with each other.” NPF said it was ever ready to take on both NPCC and ACAUT the coming election if the elections were to be held on time. Stating that the “marginalized party leaders” under the aegis of NPCC and ACAUT were singing the same tune to show their existence in the public domain, NPF however said the leftover leaders of NPCC, taking note of the forthcoming general elections, were “ It looks like they think meat shops are anti- trying to echo the voice of fanatic ACAUT members national.” who had been doing every-

Citing simple examples of customary traditions where women were not allowed to touch weapons or included in the decision making bodies, CM said nowadays we have weapon wielding Mahilla battalion to provide security in the streets and also have lady officers in the form of DCs and Secretaries who make decisions everyone has to follow. Therefore the applicability of customary practices in an urban society is rather impractical and people should not be confused that we are living in the 21st Century, we have to think and act accordingly, times have changed, he said. On the political front, Dr. Shürhozelie exhorted his party-men not to get carried away by news of a new political party that would soon be floated by former Member of Parliament Chingwang Konyak. He said, “You know your leaders, the principles of your party and the policies we pursue so there is no need to worry since in a democratic set-up

thing to tarnish the image of the government and the NPF party. NPF also termed ACAUT members as backdoor political agents with their own political axes to grind. It said the ideologies of the Congress were outdated and that the public had rejected them in the last three general elections. Moreover, NPF said the Congress legislators themselves left the party for good because they were also frustrated and disenchanted with the ideology of the Congress. NPF rather asked NPCC to do a series of exercise to look into how their own weakness and their past misrule, with corruption at its heights, had sown the seeds of discontentment and disenchantment in the minds of the people. “It should then own responsibility for the imbalances created in the society that has its roots back to the Congress regime,” NPF

said. Hitting out at ACAUT, NPF said their motives were clear for any layman to understand since the leaders have started displaying their political colour in the guise of common issues. Asserting that NPF was a pro-poor party, it said NPF shall not do anything detrimental to public benefit. In its endeavor for progressiveness of the people under the NPF government, it said “the party advices its legislators to work within the laid down rules and procedures to give best governance to the people throughout its tenure and, lacuna (if any) detected in the system, should be rectified or corrected without delay as and when brought to the notice of appropriate authorities”. However, NPF reiterated that ACAUT have started to pour out their hidden political ambitions having unholy nexus with political parties such as NPCC. K Y M C
