NHIDCL has commenced preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR). Raj Bhavan stated that these highways would be the game changers for the people living in remote districts. The MoRTH has reportedly assured the governor of fast pace progress on all their road projects in Nagaland. When contacted, governor Ravi told Nagaland Post that he had been meeting Union Minister Gadkari from time to time for infrastructure development, particularly the roads, in Nagaland. Ravi said “My thrust is to ensure some significant infrastructure development in Nagaland by 2022, when the Country will celebrate 75th year of Independence.” He informed that after preparation of DPR of the new 500 kms highways by NHIDCL in next one to two months, the project was likely to commence by mid this year.

DIMAPUR, MAR 4 (NPN): Oil Tanker’s Drivers Union (OTDU) IOC, Dimapur has appealed to the Dimapur district administration to provide parking place with security for oil tanker trucks, saying the drivers were facing many hardship and problems due to non-available of parking place, no entry zone and lack of security within the town area. In a representation addressed to the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, the OTDU president Jonathan Yepthomi stated that oil tanker drivers often park their truck on the road side or on private land area leading to complaints and harassment from
the public. The union also said it was risky and dangerous to park the inflammatory oil tanker in the crowded public area. Further, OTDU stated that oil tanker drivers were finding it difficult to move and travel within the town due to no entry rules on certain roads. In the light of the above, the union has urged the DC to intervene and provide proper parking places with security for oil tanker truck for smooth functioning of distribution activities. The union said that in the event of non-delivery of oil to petrol stations due to no parking place with security, the union would not be held responsible for consequences.
New studies suggest Covid CNCCI plea for hassle-free cargo service evolves naturally: Report NEW YORK, MAR 4 (IANS): New studies have suggested that Covid-19 evolved naturally and is far more widespread than previously believed, a media report said. “At least four recent studies have identified coronaviruses closely related to the pandemic strain in bats and pangolins in Southeast Asia and Japan, a sign that these pathogens are more widespread than previously known and that there was ample opportunity for the virus to evolve,” The Wall Street Journal said on Monday. Another study has
found that a change in one amino acid-- an organic compound to form proteins -- on the spike protein of the virus can allow the virus to infect human cells, The Wall Street Journal report added. “These latest pieces of research add to evidence that the virus, called SARSCoV-2, likely originated in bats and then evolved naturally to infect humans, possibly through an intermediary animal,” it said.
DIMAPUR, MAR 4 (NPN): Welcoming the recent launch of air cargo service at Dimapur airport, the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) Thursday appealed to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Air India and IndiGo Airlines to provide best hassle-free service to encourage the business community and entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the service. CNCCI chairman Dr. Khekugha Muru and general secretary Dr. Seyievilie Mor
said that launching of air cargo service was a laudable step and a positive move towards integrating the state economy with the rest of the world at a faster pace. CNCCI, on behalf of the business community and entrepreneurs of Nagaland, also appreciated the government and horticulture department for such progressive step, adding that such initiative deserved support from all. Meanwhile, CNCCI has urged the business community and entrepreneurs to

It pointed out that the business community and entrepreneurs have always left wanting for need of proper infrastructure, marketing avenues and linkages and have on numerous occasions urged the government for such support to venture beyond the state. CNCCI has, therefore, termed the initiative as “another milestone achieved” and “one of the best gifts given to the business community and entrepreneurs of the State in decades.”
DIMAPUR, MAR 4 (NPN): Lack of civic sense among a section of citizens here, especially their propensity to spit just about anywhere, is having a profound impact on the town’s overall looks as almost all
public spaces have been splattered with red spit stains over years of spitting. Consider the mural painting at Yimkong Sidewalk near West Police Station, which was put up by Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) in commemo-
ration of its golden jubilee in collaboration with team Better Dimapur, but has been badly stained with gutkha/paan spit stains. The mural painting near West Police Station is considered the longest mural painting in the Northeast. Admitting that spitting
after chewing gutkha has become a nuisance, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) administrator Albert Ezung told Nagaland Post that there had been enough awareness campaigns and sensitisation programmes to improve overall public hygiene, sanitation and inculcation of civic sense among the residents, but to no avail. Commenting on the mural painting’s condition, he said he was saddened to see the paintings being stained but assured that DMC was ready to collaborate with any group volunteering to maintain the mural painting.
