D I M A P U R , N OV 1 (NPN): In a befitting response, Lotha Hoho has come out with a strong message that sacked parliamentary secretary Mmhonlumo Kikon “ is a leader of the Lothas and the Lotha people will stand by him as long as he does right for the Lotha people” in response to the reports that chief minister T.R. Zeliaing removed him because of failure to convince LH to withdraw its PIL against NP&NG Regulations and Rules 2012. Lotha Hoho through a joint statement issued by its chairman Mhao Humtsoe and general secretary Er. Mhondamo Ovung, reiterated that Kikon was elected by the Lotha people to stand for their rights, protect them and lead them and not to be “the errand runner of someone” and called on all Naga MLAs to note that each of them were representatives of a constituency and thus, all were basically equal. LH clarified that though it has no political interest nor was it against T.R. Zeliang so long interests of Lothas was not undermined
NSCN (I-M) reacts to K. Mulatonu DIMAPUR, NOV 1 (NPN): Reacting to the statement made by GPRN/NSCN convenor of National Political Advisory Council and kilonser, Kughalu Mulatonu that talks between Government of India (GoI) and GPRN/NSCN was on the cards and likely to start by March 2017, NSCN (I-M) said there was nothing new about such repeated empty claims. In a press note, MIP said all that they discussed “since 2007 was confined to ceasefire extension, whereby they have accepted to be disciplined under the Indian laws as signed in their ceasefire agreement”. MIP said Naga people know that the GPRN/ NSCN has been telling invented stories in order to collect taxes from the people from time to time, for the sustenance of their campers. The MIP stated that GoI had repeatedly told Kehoi campers that “there will be only one solution for the IndoNaga political issue”. It pointed out that the ongoing Indo-Naga political talk with Government of India and NSCN representing Naga people is inclusive and final. Hundreds of cadres from the GPRN/NSCN have been switching sides and joining NSCN (I-M) to strengthen the ongoing
but it was displeased to learn that Mmhonlumo’s sacking was related with the PIL it filed. LH clarified that Mmhonlumo had not discussed the issue of anomalies of NP&NG 2012 Regulations and Rules with it nor was he in any way connected with the filing of PIL. LH demanded the chief minister to justify why he sacked Mmhonlumo since no reason was given when he was sacked. If the reason was due to the PIL, then LH said it failed to understand why the present DAN ministry was hell bent on having the PIL withdrawn. It pointed out that the Supreme Court had ruled that once a PIL was filed, it cannot be withdrawn till it reached logical conclusion. Therefore, LH asked why unnecessary efforts and resources should be spent to entrust people to convince it (LH) to withdraw PIL?. After experiencing pressure exerted on it through numerous agencies, entrusted by “unscrupulous authorities, to withdraw the PIL”; LH said this was due

to a hidden agenda of vested interests since its PIL had in no way, infringed upon the interests of Nagas or Article 371A. Further LH asserted that its PIL was not against any political party of in any way, undermined or hindered the interests of anyone be it Nagas or stakeholders, but only for the rights of landowners be it Lotha or any other. “PIL is purely for sustaining the provisions of Article 371A” maintained LH and questioned why would anyone be so keen to undo its initiative to safeguard Naga landowners “unless there is hidden agenda with vested interest?” LH also asked Metropolitan Oil and Gas Private Limited (MOGPL) why was it particularly targeting Wokha district only and not starting work in Peren where it was also issued permit for exploration and development works? Further, LH raised the following points and urged upon Naga intellectuals to analyse them and arrive at logical conclusion:

KOHIMA, NOV 1 (NPN): Government authorities used water cannon to disperse the SSA teachers who were staging sit-in protest at directorate of school education here on Tuesday. SSA teachers under the aegis of Nagaland SSA Teachers Association (NSSATA) 2010 & 2013 batches consisting of around 2600 teachers began their phase-II agitation against non-payment of salary and demanding fourpoint charter of demands. The water cannon was fired after the protestors attempted to prevent directorate staff from entering from another entry point since the main gate was gheraoed by the teachers and did not allow the staff to enter. It was learnt that aggrieved teachers did not give any prior information to the staffs that they would not be allowed to enter the office. The agitators refused many staffs to enter office even after displaying their identity card. After a daylong protest, the teachers said they have decided to intensify agitation on the second day by restricting the directorate staff to enter office, saying the state government could

He urged upon the wealthy people to come forward in helping out in various social services and also to the Nagas residing elsewhere, to come and help their people. “It is them who can make the state a better place and that they shouldn’t wait for someone else to do it on their behalf,” he added. During the event, the Governor inaugurated the college magazine ‘Pranab Vision’ while his wife, Kavita Achraya inaugurated the ‘Wall Magazine’. Earlier, Padmashree Sentila T Yanger was felici-
tated for her achievement. In her short speech, Sentila encouraged the women folks to work harder to achieve their goal, saying “their fight was not over yet”. She lamented that disparity between men and women still persisted in the society and opined that the state assembly clear the 33 percent reservation for women. She said that women were trapped in the patriarchy and that had been keeping them from coming out and realizing their full potential. Meanwhile, the programme was chaired by Themneingah Hanneng, introductory speech was made by PWC joint secretary Swami Chinmayanandajee Maharaj while the principal Uma Bhowmick delivered the welcome address. According to action committee convener Huzeng, the state government could not offer concrete assurance except a verbal assurance that the teachers would receive their salaries soon. On their demand that salaries of SSA 2010-2013 teachers to be paid from nonplan revenue, the convenor said government responded that as long as SSA funding takes place, there was no provision from the state government that the salary of the CSS would be made
from non-plan. On the third demand to strictly adhere to the national mission (SSA) guidelines and funding procedure in order to avoid instalment lapses and delays in the payment of salaries, he said government has assured to try its best that such things did not happen in future. With regard to the last demand to pay salary regular from state fund and to retrieve during the release from the Centre, the convenor said the finance department maintained they did not have money in their account. Total overhaul in education system needed: Acharya versities were luring youths with mere degrees instead of equipping them with skills. This he said has rather created more educated unemployed youths and termed it as “act of crime”. Such universities depend solely on government funds and lack productivity, resulting in students hunting for jobs desperately with some even going to the extent of paying bribes, he said. He highlighted Centre’s initiative under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which had earmarked Rs 12,000 crore, to impart skill oriented education. The scheme, to be implemented in all the colleges (sixth semester), would equip graduating students to be independent once they pass out from their institutions. Achar ya said, this scheme was specifically targeted at creating more selfreliant students and not just

NNC/GDRN (NA) refutes
DIMAPUR, NOV 1 (NPN): Refuting GDRN/NNC (NA)’s claim that “both civil and army wing” was officially dissolved,” MIP NNC/GDRN (NA) Tuesday clarified that the statement was only to create confusion among the public. MIP said NNC/GDRN (NA) was quite safe under the leadership of president Kiumkam, stating that it will keep striving for the betterment of the Nagas under the banner of NNC/GDRN (NA). It affirmed that NNC/ GDRN (NA) will remain alive “till our long cherished goal is achieved”. It therefore, appealed to all stakeholders not to confuse with the news of the breakaway group statement. Rather, the breakaway group, according to MIP, has finally given up their immature political crisis with the president of NNC/GDRN (NA) by joining NSCN (I-M). Since, NNC/GDRN (NA) do not believe in violence outcome but has endeavored to serve the Naga nation through cooperation and mutual dialogue, the MIP said it has no hurt feeling against the decision of the breakaway group. Further, MIP said that it has even forgiven those rogue elements that attempted to kill Kimukam as NNC/GDRN (NA) firmly believed in nonviolence policy of achieving our common goal. K Y M C
