Correspondent

KOHIMA, NOV 29 (NPN): NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Tuesday categorically stated that the April 2015 reconciliation within the party was “total and unconditional” and that there was no room for “bargaining with conditions any further”. Addressing the NPF Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting here at the party’s Central Hqs, Dr. Shürhozelie further said that the party felt sorry for those who have not accepted the reconciliation, and reminded them that the “particular period” was over and that there was “no ground to turn back and reopen the issue.” “Unfortunate that in some quarters some people did not fit in to the system by making further bargains. However, the April 30, 2015 reconciliation was total and unconditional. Thereby, further bargaining with conditions does not arise,” said Dr. Shürhozelie. “We are happy that vast majority of us have responded to the reconciliation declaration and had regained the earlier position with the spirit of forgive and forget”, he said.

ACAUT flays illegal taxation by NFGs D I M A P U R , N OV 2 9 (NPN): ACAUT Nagaland has strongly condemned the “unchristian activities” of Naga Factional Groups (NFGs) for indulging in forceful illegal taxation and collection, despite repeated appeal for ‘One Government One Tax’. In this regard, ACAUT cautioned NFGs to immediately stop illegal taxation or face total shutter-down of all business activities. It also appealed to the law enforcing agencies, especially Dimapur Police to arrest those rogue scoundrels, who are disturbing the peaceful atmosphere and the festive mood. F u r t h e r, A C AU T asked the district administration to point out “how many trade licenses should a business house have? “The government of Nagaland cannot allow several parallel governments to operate with impunity or turn a blind eye to their activities”, ACAUT media cell stated. Therefore, ACAUT said that if the state government was unable to check such unlawful activities, it had no right to issue trade licenses.

Keeping in mind the 2018 general election, Dr. Shürhozelie further said that the party felt necessary to convene the party’s General Convention in 2017. However, he said today’s CEC meeting could be considered as “a substitute to the General Convention”.“For those of you who are in the fray for the party ticket, it is time for you to prove yourself to the party through your performances,” he said. With regard to the forthcoming Manipur Assembly polls, he said the party would be declaring the names of the NPF candidates in a week’s time. He also expressed joy that there were two candidates from the Kuki community and another intending candidate from the plain sector.

Dr. Shürhozelie said the party would work hard to see that it garners majority in the hill sector. Dr. Shürhozelie also informed that the party would be opening an office at Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh. He however said NPF was not ambitious, but wanted the party to take off when the party leaders were willing to work and organize on a stronger foundation. On Naga political issue, he reiterated that NPF was supportive for a logical conclusion to the vexed Naga political issue at the earliest. However, he said since assembly polls were nearing, as a party, they had to be prepared for any eventuality. The meeting was attended NPF and Independent MLAs, CEC members from Nagaland and Manipur.

KOHIMA, NOV 29 (NPN): After Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya took his government to task for alleged corruption at various levels, the Naga People’s Front (NPF), the dominant partner in the ruling government, reacted with an unprecedented scathing attack on the Governor at the party’s Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting here Tuesday. While hitting out at the Governor, the NPF ministers also slammed the BJP, an alliance partner, for blaming the DAN government of corruption. NPF ministers said the Governor had gone beyond his brief in calling the government corrupt. Nagaland Home minister Y. Patton led the charge by alleging that under the present incumbent, the Raj Bhavan has been turned into a place for RSS, BJP and Heraka. He also hit out at BJP for complaining of “step motherly treatment by NPF”. Patton said BJP legislators were given “good portfolios” in the government and cited that portfolios

given to former parliamentary secretary Mmhonlumo of the BJP, which have been allotted to BJP legislators. Further he said the state BJP president was also accorded cabinet status. Nagaland minister of National Highways, Mechanical and Election, Nuklutoshi reiterated that the Governor should act in accordance with laid down rules. Taking a dig at the Governor for making inspection trips to villages where he had raised concern about school children not being given Mid Day Meal Scheme, Nuklutoshi said the Governor should not visit villages uninvited just to find faults. Also slamming BJP, the minister said it was DAN alliance partner since the past 13 to 14 years and so it was unbecoming of the state BJP to condemn its own alliance government while in Delhi. He reminded BJP that its own elected members were also in the government. Nuklutoshi also hit out against what he described as “unrecognised organisations” whose numbers have swelled up and exerting their power. In this regard,

he said that like ACAUT Nagaland, the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has been exerting its power by shutting down government offices. He said such organisations should be derecognised. Civic polls: On the forthcoming Municipal and Town Council elections, Home minister Y. Patton and Forest minister Dr. Nicky Kire urged the party rank and file to ensure overall victory for the party. Dr Nicky reminded party members that the civic polls would be a litmus test for preparing for the 2018 general elections. Dr. Kire also demanded that the NPF should strongly react against the holding of “Good Governance Day” on December 25 throughout India by the prime minister as it was the sacred day for Christians. Hornbill: Minister PHE Tokheho Yepthomi pointed out that since statehood day on December 1 was being overlapped with Hornbill Festival, he suggested that celebration begin from December 2 and also to curtail the days for the festival. Though the final solution was yet to see the light of the day, “there have been positive developments during the

last one year beginning with the signing of the Framework agreement by the GoI and the NSCN (I-M) on August 3last year”, he added. He therefore, urged upon the people to remain united and refrain from negative thinking and unnecessary gossips and speculations but continue to pray to God for the best possible outcome.
