Some are still in hiding while the lives of many families have been ruined forever. criminals today exploit the innate human greed for quick money and email and atm frauds have become another growing phenomenon. those criminals involved have developed it into a global phenomenon by exploiting the human psychology. they know that most people are credulous to some extent and will behave in predictable ways. the phrase ‘there’s a sucker born every minute,’ means cheaters will always find someone who will fall for their lies-hook,line and sinker. earlier many people from Nagaland were ensnared by dreams of getting their hands on rs.300 crore or so locked in some banks. the victims are chosen at random and messages congratulating them are sent through emails or SmS. Some fee has to be paid as charges for transfer and this fee grows higher as the conmen become more demanding. all it takes to get that money is to pay processing fees ranging from rs.10 to 30 lakh in installments to the banker of the person who has decided to share the money with anyone who helps in paying “bribe” or incentive to the bank. Sometimes, the victims receive a pitiable amount and by that time they are too desperate to believe that the whole scam is genuine. Once victims pay lakhs of rupees, there seem to be no turning back as the cheats warn that failure to remit money would invite forfeiture of the ‘prize money’. even till today, there are so called intelligent people who are falling for the scam about some very rich man who wants to give money to any willing person(s) from Nagaland to do business with interest free loan. many families were ruined after they got involved in the devilish scheme and some had to sell their land and buildings or flee from Nagaland after borrowing money. the best advice- it is better to be poor and happy than chase after money and lose everything including family.
