DIMAPUR, OCT 29 (NPN): Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has served a seven-day ultimatum on the state government to release all pending salaries to the aggrieved teachers and to pay their monthly salaries regularly henceforth. In an ultimatum addressed to state chief minister, AKM president, L Jemti Longchar, and general secretary, Bendangkumba Aier, said they were “astounded” at the fact that the state government has not been paying salary to a number of Hindi and SSA teachers for six to nine months at a stretch. “It is absolutely unfair on the part of the state government to not pay the entitled salary to the aggrieved teachers,” the signatories stated. AKM pointed out that aggrieved teachers under the aegis of the All Nagaland Hindi Teachers Associa-
tion and the Nagaland SSA Teachers Association 2010 & 2013 have resorted to boycotting classes after the government failed to met their legitimate demands, which it said was a fall out of the government. Apex Ao student body asserted that boycotting of classes by teachers has led to putting the career of thousands of innocent students at peril, more so as the current academic session was coming to an end. AKM said it cannot remain a mute spectator “to this spectre of misgovernance” on the part of the government. Pointing out that career of innocent students, cannot be put at jeopardy because of the government’s “ineptness”, AKM warned that, in the event of the government failed to comply with its ultimatum, it would be compelled to take its own course of action.
