Deendayal Upadhyaya’s centenary celebrations. Modi batted for innovation and promoting skills among the youth and asked them to work for a modern India. We should promote creativity and do things and celebrate days to unite the country and promote celebration and respect of diversity.” PM also emphasised on the power of “Yuva Shakti’ (youth power) and said that he saw a vital place for youngsters in the realm of nation-building. not what it was 5,000 years ago or during the times of Lord Rama or Buddha, the Prime Minister said. Vivekananda supported experimentation and innovation and his government was working according to the ideals shown by him, Modi said. PM also highlighted the importance of skill development. Explaining what he meant, PM threw some light through the example of Vivekananda and how he separated skill and knowledge. PM Modi said, “Education is not the amount of information, put into one’s brain, which may be there undigested all one’s life. It is, rather a life-building assimilation of ideas.”

PM quoted the famous lines of Vivekananda while addressing the students at the event and said, “If you have assimilated five ideas and made them, as your character, you have more education than any man who has got by heart the whole library. If education were identical with information, the libraries would be the greatest sages in the world and encyclopaedias, the greatest Rishis.” V i ve k a n a n d a , t h e prime minister added, had given the message of love and brotherhood. Modi used the occasion to speak against people who litter and said those who do so have no right to say Vande Mataram. The crowd intermittently shouted ‘Vande

Mataram’ as the Prime Minister spoke. Lauding sanitation and cleaning workers, he said they have the first right to say Vande Mataram. Urging people to keep their surroundings clean, Modi told the gathering that people may or may not keep their surroundings clean but nobody had the right to dirty places. “We chew ‘paan’ and spit it out on Mother India (Bharat maa par pichakaari mare) and then chant Vande Mataram. Throw garbage and then chant Vande Mataram... The sanitation and cleaning workers have the first right to say Vande Mataram,” he said. The Prime Minister also asked colleges to hold cultural events to celebrate other states and added in a light-hearted vein that he was not against celebrating days like rose day. Students should do more, Modi said, asking them hold a Tamil day in a Haryana college or a Kerala day in a Punjab college. “There is no better place for creativity and innovation than university campuses. There is no life without creativity. Let our creativity also strengthen our nation & fulfil the aspirations of our people,” he said.

3 Assam Rifles jawans injured in IED blast Staff Reporter

DIMAPUR, SEP 11 (NPN): At least three jawans of the 15 Assam Rifles were injured in a bomb explosion Monday afternoon when the patrolling party came across an improvised explosive device (IED) triggered by suspected NSCN(K) cadres near the International Trade Centre (ITC) Dan, Pangsha area under Noklak sub-division of Tuensang district. According to AR sources, the IED went off when the 15 AR jawans were on routine patrol duty along the international border. AR sources alleged that cadres of the NSCN (K) had come across from Myanmar and planted the bomb to attack the security forces. In the explosion, one of the jawans was critically injured while the other two sustained minor injuries, sources said. When contacted, SP Tuensang Vikram Ezung also confirmed that the incident took place at around 2:30 p.m. at Pangsha. Court directs NPF rivals to maintain status quo Correspondent

KOHIMA, SEP 11 (NPN): In a major development involving the factionalism within the NPF which has seen a wedge between the legislature led by chief minister, T.R. Zeliang and the party led by Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsü and the formation of a parallel NPF under Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio, a single judge bench of the Gauhati high Court, Kohima Bench has ordered that status quo be maintained by both sides- NPF under Dr. Shürhozelie (petitioner) and NPF under Neiphiu Rio (respondent). After hearing counsels of both sides, the learned judge ruled in favour of the petitioner who had sought for passing an interim order, pending the appeal to restrain the opposite (respondent) from using the party flag, symbol, letter head and also from holding the general convention which is scheduled for September 20, 2017. On the objection from the counsel of the opposite party against the interim order, the learned judge, said the root cause of the dispute needed to be adjudicated on the basis of the constitution of the party and since the opposite party claimed it had submitted the genuine constitution to the ECI, he ordered that the opposite party file its affidavit with documents relied upon them within 15 days. Further the learned judge also reminded the leaders of both sides who are “among the tallest political leaders in the state” were aware of the expectation of the people and therefore, asked them to abide by the constitution of the

NPF party and also restrain their respective supporters from “disturbing the peace and tranquillity of the state.” Reactions: Meanwhile, NPF Central through its Media & Press Bureau said it should abide by the Constitution of the party while describing high court order as a vindication of its stand that it is a duly registered party with the Election Commission of India, which functions according to the provisos of its Constitution and not by the whims and fancies of any individual or group of legislators. The M&PB stated that as per the Constitution of the NPF, two-thirds of the CEC can write to the president to call for an emergent general convention of the party. However, it said the “imposters do not muster the required number, nor have anyone written to the president of the party, Dr. Shürhozelie to convene a General Convention”. Therefore, NPF central said the September 20 so-called General Convention was illegal and unconstitutional and expressed hope that “these towering political leaders behind the charade come to their senses and stop fooling the people with their grandiose hopes and wishes”. Neiphiu Rio led NPF press secretary, Shilu Mar informed Nagaland Post that they welcomed the judgment and described it as a “balanced judgment” and claimed that it was in their favour. When asked to elaborate on what was meant by “balanced judgement” he did not elucidate further but only said that the matter was in the court and that they respected the court order.

Meanwhile, hundreds of autorickshaw drivers created a scene outside railway station after they reportedly discovered some unauthorized private vehicles ferrying passengers around Dimapur charging exorbitant rates. Auto drivers also expressed outrage at the district administration for taking their demands lightly while remaining silent on those private vehicles.
