Gov launches ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ KOHIMA, SEP 15 (NPN): Nagaland Governor and also the brand Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, P.B. Acharya on Friday launched the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ (Cleanliness is Service) campaign at Super Market area here. In his brief address, Acharya called upon the citizens of Nagaland, particularly those living in the state capital, to keep their surroundings clean. “For tourism to flourish in our state we must keep our towns and villages clean,” the Governor asserted. Stating that the state government and Municipal councils were just felicitators, the Governor challenged all to make a clean Kohima and to set an example for others. While reminding all that ‘Cleanliness was next to Godliness’, Acharya at the same time urged upon all to keep their surroundings clean in order to live a healthy live. Total power shutdown likely in two districts DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): In connection with the ongoing repair/ maintenance work at 66KV Mokokchung-Tuli transmission line, Power department has informed that there was a possibility of total power shutdown from Sunday 6am (even at night) till Monday 6pm if a part of the work (replacement of insulators and conductors) could not be completed due to technical or weather condition. In a press note, SDO (Trans), Mokokchung division, Er. Shilu has requested the affected consumers under Mon and Longleng districts and also Changtongya and Tuli areas under Mokokchung district to bear with the inconvenience.

PWD (NH) informs on road diversion

MOKOKCHUNG, SEP 15 (NPN): PWD (NH) Mokokchung division has informed about the diversion of road along NH702 sinking area located at 48.3km Changki. In this regard, EE PWD (NH) Mokokchung, Er. Chubatoshi said that repair/maintenance work was underway. Since the earthwork may take a few days, the EE has advised traffic to take NH-2 till the diversion work was completed.

Narendra Modi during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on August 27, 2017 called upon the nation to undertake the campaign of ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ (SHS) from September 15 to October 2, 2017 with an aim to intensify the focus and create an environment of cleanliness across the country in the spirit of ‘Jan Andolan’. In this regard, Governor Acharya has written a letter to all the 60 legislators including the chief minister and the two Members of Parliament, to be a part of the SHS campaign requesting them to conduct programmes across the state/

constituencies and send details along with photographs of the programme. A press note from the Governor’s office informed that during the SHS campaign, the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation would be launching a nationwide mass mobilisation drive “to accelerate ODF progress in villages through construction of twin pit toilets in conjunction with the behaviour change activities.” The SHS campaign was formally launched by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind at Kanpur on Thursday. Meanwhile, Public Health Engineering department also simultaneously launched the campaign at its directorate with director of Water and Sanitation Support Organisation (WSSO) Y. Tep delivering the keynote address. He informed that marking the campaign till October 2, various programmes have been sorted which including mass cleanliness drive and construction of toilets throughout the State. Tep also administered Swachhta Hi Sewa pledge to the officials.

DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): Nearly a week after serving an ultimatum on the government to release pending salary of fixed-pay faculty members of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA), the Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu Student’s Union (KPASU) on Friday staged protest at the institute against the “unconcerned attitude” of the directorate officials. In a press release, KPASU president, Hinovi T Achumi, and general secretary, Nikato Chishi, alleged that due to incompetence of higher authorities, regular classes have been totally paralyzed. Pointing out that majority of teaching faculty members com-

prised of fixed-pay lecturers, KAPSU said they have been boycotting classes since September 11 due to non-payment of 6-month salary. After getting positive response from higher authority, the union said faculty members decided to temporarily suspend stir till September 20. It, however, expressed apprehension that if no tangible solution was reached, the faculty members could resume agitation indefinitely. In this regard, KAPSU urged the government to fulfil demand of aggrieved faculty members and cautioned that failure on authority’s part would compel students “to resort to drastic measures.”

DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): NPF press and information cell (P&IC) has hit back at KG Kenye’s statement, pointing out that he (Kenye) had admitted his limitations and boundaries which was “an unambiguous confession of his follies committed during his wily attempts to discredit the NPF majority group.” P&IC said it was habitual for the minority NPF group to concoct their own myopic interpretations of various correspondences from the authorities in order to smear the lustrous image of the majority NPF under the leadership of NPF president, Neiphiu Rio. In order to set the record straight, P&IC stated that the DC Dimapur, through the EAC had “redirected” the letter to the concerned authority, referring to the office of the Commissioner of Police (CP), Dimapur. P&IC said CP being the competent authority, endowed with certain magisterial powers, the permission for holding programmes in public places required the permission from the CP’s office so that necessary arrangements relating to deployment of police and traffic personnel are made. CM moots setting up Naga heritage museum in Delhi DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): Nagaland chief minister, TR Zeliang, mooted a proposal to set up a Naga Heritage Museum in New Delhi on Friday when he met Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (I/C) and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, at his private residence in Dimapur. Zeliang and his wife hosted breakfast for the Union Minister and his wife. Governor, PB Acharya, and his wife Kavita Acharya later joined them. According to an official bulletin, the chief minister disclosed that he suggested having a Naga Heritage Museum in New Delhi for showcasing the history, collection of books and the artefacts of different tribes of Nagaland. “Presently we have one Emporium in Delhi but that is very small and not properly placed,” the chief minister said, adding that he

also highlighted the importance of having a World War Museum in Delhi along with Naga Heritage Museum. With regard to the ongoing construction of Academy Hall in Kohima, the chief minister disclosed that about 70 percent of the work has been completed under SPA. Lamenting the absence of proper Academy Hall in the state, Zeliang said he requested for funds under Art & Culture for completing the unfinished construction. In this regard, the union minister has asked the state government to submit proposal

for the same. Observing that the museum of Kohima was in poor state, Zeliang said he has stressed the need for improving museum to the union minister. Meanwhile, Zeliang lauded Dr. Sharma for creating tourism network in Nagaland and described him as a man of action. Zeliang disclosed that when Dr. Mahesh Sharma was the then tourism minister he took the initiative and approved tourism projects to the tune of more than Rs. 200 crore for Nagaland under Swadesh Darshan. Justice & Law department reacts to NTC

DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): Reacting to Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) statement concerning construction of the new High Court complex at Meriema, the State Department of Justice and Law has urged the NTC not to make false allegation without verifying the facts and figures In a press release, secretary to state government, Khanrinla T Koza, stated that in the department of Justice and Law, there was no record of NTC filing RTI application in respect of High Court construction as alleged. Secretary also clarified that the foundation stone of High Court Complex was inaugurated by the then Chief Justice of India Justice KG Balakrishnan on May 21, 2007 and not as claimed. Further, the secretary clarified that total

estimated cost of the project was Rs.161.10 crore as per NPWD SOR’2010 and the department had received sanction amounting to Rs.57.61 crore and not as claimed. With the sanctioned amount, the secretary said department had executed various works such as road connectivity to the project, site levelling, contour mapping, boundary fencing and retaining wall etc. and construction of the main court building was in progress. During the plan sectoral outlay, the secretary said that planning & coordination department earmarked the fund under Negotiated Loan (HUDCO) and not as claimed. Meanwhile, the department of Justice and Law has welcomed the NTC to appear and examine the records.

DIMAPUR, SEP 15 (NPN): ACAUT has strongly condemns the “bogus syndicate group by the name Anti Corruption and Crime Investigation Front (ACCIF)” with its headquarters at Purana Bazar, Dimapur. I n a p r e s s n o t e, ACAUT media cell alleged that the ACCIF had been harassing the business community in the East Dimapur area jurisdiction by demanding tax and donation and in some instances even threatened business owners. ACAUT said: “The audacity of these people to go to any length to make money is just dumb founding especially when the whole of Nagaland populace is fed up with the menace of illegal taxation.” It said two persons were nabbed by the Dimapur police-- Longritemjen, vice chairman ACCIF/Purana Bazar village council member and advisor ACCIF Pradeep Sethi, resident of Marwari Patti, Dimapur. ACAUT lauded Dimapur police for nabbing the kingpins and also appealed to the police to arrest other members. ACAUT also urged the court to award the most stringent punishment.

D imapur , S E P 1 5 (NPN): Advisor Urban Development, SI Jamir, on Friday launched the garbage transportation vehicles under ADB assisted NERCCDIP/NERUDP at Solidarity Park, New Capital Complex, Kohima. According to an official bulletin, the project was a state investment programme management and implementation unit –Asian Development Bank (ADB) assisted programme for Kohima Municipal Council

(KMC). Speaking at the programme, SI Jamir said the launching of the garbage transportation vehicles would facilitate collection of waste from the city. To make the best use of solid waste management facility at Lerie, the advisor appealed to the citizens to cooperate with KMC in segregating the wastes into wet and dry waste at the source. To ensure the success of the various interventions made by the government for

proper management of the City’s waste, Jamir requested the SIPMIU and KMC to undertake programmes to ensure community participation in waste management through meetings and awareness campaigns with wards, educational institutions, offices and NGOs. Earlier, Jamir cited the Solid Waste Management Facility commissioned on February 11, 2016, with the support of the Government of India and the Asian Development Bank, the

Dry Waste Segregation and Re-use Unit, which was expected to be commissioned by December, 2017 and the introduction of Two Bins System in the city. Presenting the technical report, additional programme director, SIPMIU, Er. Limanaro said KMC and SIPMIU keeping the urgent need to improve the Solid Waste Management in the city formulated the project for supply of Garbage Transportation Vehicles and supply and installation of Dry Waste Segregation and Re-use Unit for Kohima, to be funded under Tranche-2 of the ADB funded NERCCDIP/NERUDP, Government of India.
