former IAS officer of the 1979 batch, Kerala cadre. He is also a practicing advocate. Other new faces likely to join the union government include Bhupendra Yadav or O.P. Mathur, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Prahlad Patel, Nishikant Dubey and Pravesh Verma. There were talks that, ally Shiv Sena may get one more berth with Anil Desai, a Rajya Sabha member, making the grade. The reshuffle is also mostly likely to see the entry of JD (U) nominees into the ministry but party president and Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar kept the suspense up, saying no proposal has yet come to him for inclusion in the union cabinet. Kalraj Mishra, 77, claimed that he was not being dropped as Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises because of performance but on grounds of age. Though there has been no official word on the changes that are likely, there is speculation that the Prime Minister could appoint a Defence Minister since the portfolio has been with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as additional charge.
DIMAPUR, SEP 2 (NPN): Nagaland chief minister, TR Zeliang on Saturday expressed serious concern over rampant power theft in the state and called upon the people to “judiciously utilise power supply and avoid power theft as responsible customers,” CMO media cell stated. Speaking at the commissioning programme of the 66kv Transmission Line from Ganeshnagar to Jalukie charged at 33KV and 5 MVA 33/11 sub-station, as chief guest in Jalukie, Zeliang lamented that during the last financial year, against a power purchase cost of Rs. 281.97 crores, the Power department was able to recover only Rs.116.42 crores, burdening the state with a huge revenue gap of Rs. 165.55 crores. “Our people have a common tendency of taking availability of electricity and its usage in our day to day lives for granted and cost free but what we tend to remain blissfully ignorant of, is the fact that electricity is generated, purchased, transmitted and distributed at great cost and thus what is consumed needs to be paid for,” he said. Terming it as a “red-
letter day”, Zeliang said that the up-gradation from 33KV to 66KV Line would boost the economy and facilitate the growth of industries and commerce in Peren district. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of DoNER for funding the Project and the State Power department for successfully implementing it. Recalling other important projects implemented in the district, the chief minister said that Sainik School at Punglwa; College of Veterinary, Science & Animal Husbandry at Jalukie, Farmers Training School at Jalukie were one of its kind implemented in the district apart from the 66KV Transmission Line and 5MVA,33/11 Sub-station at Jalukie. Though most of the vil-
lages in Nagaland were yet to have power connectivity even after 50 years of statehood, Zeliang said he was happy to note that Peren district has been able attain 100% achievement in Rural Electrification. He said electrification of 17 new villages covering 396 rural households under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DUGJY) were completed last month. Zeliang further appealed to the citizens not only to inculcate the habit of prompt and full payment of their electricity bills, but also to come forward generously and provide all required assistance such as ‘Right of Way’ wherever activities by Power department were being taken up.

The present repair works has been initiated under the banner of “Longleng-Changtongya Road Repairing Committee’ comprising of Phom Peoples’ Council District Administration, PWD (R&B), Longleng District Drivers’ Union

It said resolution no.2, 4 and 6 were expected to be addressed by the present government before its term ends. Failing which, the ACAUT said it would be forced to undertake another round of agitation.
