PSAN alleges favoritism in NPSC SUBMITS 6-PT DEMAND for IMPLEMENTATION
DIMAPUR, SEP 8 (NPN): Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) have raised strong objection to the current marking system practised by NPSC members in favour of certain candidates at the viva-voce exams. Stating this in a press note, PSAN core team took serious note of the alleged practice of “favouritism” and “manipulation” by NPSC members in the viva-voce marking system of NPSC (non-technical) examination result 2015. PASN alleged that the average marks of some candidates from the same tribe as that of NPSC members were much higher than candidates whose tribe were not NPSC members. Further, on an average, the candidates who scored above 70 (out of 75) were also much higher among candidates who had their people from their tribe as NPSC members, PSAN stated. In the light of this matter, PSAN core team members held an emergency meeting on September 5, wherein the house unani-
mously agreed to seek for urgent need revamp of the NPSC system. The house resolved therefore resolved “to oppose ‘tooth and nail’ against unfairness in the whole process of NPSC examination system”, PSAN stated in a press note. Referring to the RTI reply, PSAN went on to point out that most of the candidates who had scored lesser than their fellow candidates in mains exams were “unethically awarded generous marks” and secured better posts. However, PSAN said those candidates, who scored better marks in mains exam, were “whitewashed” off their NCS & NPS dreams by NPSC interview board members by awarding “unreasonably low marks”. The huge differences in awarding marks to the candidates were evident when some candidates scored as high as 74.12 out of 75 and some scored as low as 29 out of the same total mark, PSAN said. Citing an instance, PSAN said a particular candidate who scored 5th highest mark in mains

SDO has appealed to all consumers to bear with the inconvenience since the restoration has been delayed due to long span of the conductor (about 900 metre).

exam (404) was awarded only 32 marks out of 75 in the viva-voce, thereby denying him of his deserving NCS/NPS post. PSAN also pointed out discrepancies in the 2015 NPSC (non-technical) examination result where some general category candidates, whose marks were lower than backward tribe (BT) candidates, managed to get selected. Even some, whose marks were lower than grade-II posts, got selected for grade-I post, PSAN claimed. In this regard, PSAN said NPSC was answerable not only to those meritorious candidates whom it had whitewashed off the merit list, but also to God for its grave injustice. Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland has put forth a six-point demand before the government for prompt necessary action, “in lieu of the obvious and crystal-clear rampant corrupt practices and manipulation in the whole process of NPSC examination system”. 1. Minimize the viva marks from the current 75

Further, Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland reminded the state government that NPSC was not a private firm and that the viva-voce was supposed to be a “personality test” and not “whitewash brush” for the NPSC members. It further asked the NPSC members to resign on moral grounds “if he/ she does not adhere to interview norms or is unworthy of sitting in the chair.”

ormation was not required,” he said. However, taking into the account the failure in the functioning of the government, the vocabulary “reformation” came into the minds of the party, Lohe said. Lohe accused the NPF led-DAN government of pocketing development funds during its 15-year rule. “During the last 15 years of NPF’s rule, our protective law as ILP, Land Revenue Act of 1978, notification on rules for indigenous inhabitants of 1977 have been flaunted”, he said. Not only these, according to Lohe, the government introduced new rules on Nagaland Petroleum and Natural Gas rules of 2012 and NSDZ and thereby extended legal rights to the outsiders. (Cont’d on p-7)

ICPA warns govt of stir against move to ground 132 AI pilots, 430 crew members
With the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) threatening to ground 132 pilots and 430 cabin crew members of Air India for skipping alcohol test, the Indian Commercial Pilots’ Association (ICPA), union of the erstwhile Indian Airlines’ pilots, has threatened to launch a protest against a senior official of the DGCA if the regulator acts against any pilot. The ICPA says Air India or its crew members are not at fault as the violation happened due to lack of clarity on rules. “We have come to know DGCA is on the verge of suspending licences of 132 pilots and 400 cabin crew for no fault of theirs. This is a clear case of vindication (sic) by (DGCA official). If any one of our innocent member pilot becomes a victim of DGCA for no fault of the pilot, we will resort to a full fledged protest,” ICPA letter issued by its general secretary Captain T Praveen Keerthi said.
