KNOWLEDGE IS WEALTH (Teaching)
This project is based in several primary schools located in Mathare slum in Nairobi County. These schools provide education for underprivileged children who live in the slums. The children are aged between 3 and 15 years old. The main objective is to improve and develop the students and schools so that they can attain sustainability in their everyday activities through the KULEANA Initiative. • Teaching the children subjects such as English, Mathematics and Science amongst others. • Assisting the staff to create sustainable projects for their schools e.g. feeding programs, libraries, washrooms and so on. • Mentorship and guidance to the children. • Innovating fun and creative ways of teaching as well as coming up with extracurricular activities such as sports, music and art.
WORKING HOURS: 8am-4pm (Monday-Thursday) START DATE: 1ST April 2016 END DATE: 15th November 2016 DURATION: 6 weeks minimum TRANSPORT: 2.5 dollars (200-250 KSH) daily.

This entails research on potential relevant partners and donors for the school and marketing calls if necessary.

UZIMA MILELE
(Health and sanitation) The health and sanitation project run in Mathare seeks to teach children between the age of 4 and 14 proper sanitation habits in workshops in different schools in the area. The health project also involves doing health checkups on the children in the community for various tropical diseases and do any awareness campaigns the team might deem necessary. • The intern will perform regular health checks on the children at Mamma Africa Pendo and Joy Nursing Home. • Will hold training sessions with kids in different classes on proper hygiene and sanitation methods. • Interns will teach kids at the school on precautions to take to protect themselves from HIV, TB and other related tropical diseases. • Network to raise funds to acquire drugs or create partnerships for in-kind donations such as medical drugs and sanitary towels for the girls. • Intern will keep record of school children that have been examined and make a follow up regarding their medication. •

UZIMA MILELE (Counseling)
This project entails the rehabilitation of students affected by either HIV/AIDS, rape and abusive trauma. The main aim of the project is to facilitate general seminars on HIV/AIDS, trauma and rape which will help the victim cope with different life situations. The project is also meant to facilitate the care offered by teachers to be continued at home. • Hold one on one counseling sessions with the affected students • Hold meetings with parents of affected students with the help of the school head teacher. • Hold general seminars on rape, HIV/AIDS and living with trauma. • Hold meetings with teachers to help them deal with affected students. • Teach the students on good nutrition and sanitation practices. • Make presentations on life skills that will help the student cope with different life situations WORKING HOURS: 9am-4pm (Mon-Thursday) START DATE: 1ST April 2016 END DATE: 15th November 2016 DURATION: 6 weeks minimum TRANSPORT: 2.5 dollars (200-250 KSH) daily

L’AFRIKANA (Counselling)
L’afrikana Centre is a community based organisation that works in unison with L’afrikana brand for the social development goals of the refugees in Kenya. The aim of L’afrikana Centre is to provide them with skills that, while may generate them incomes, can also be strengthen ties between the community. • Organize either group or individual therapy sessions. This should be done in an interesting and encouraging manner. • The intern should also be able to assess the group and advise the organization accordingly if further and intense counselling is required. • The intern is also expected to give a progressive update of the healing processes to the organization. • The intern is required to send in a bi weekly report to the AIESEC representative on progress.

BEYOND DREAMS (Counseling)
This project involves a small children's home operating in Ruiru, Kenya. It cares for abandoned and abused children aged between 1 year old to 5 years old and work towards their mental, physical and social development and growth. It provides the children with Early Childhood Development classes and therapy through a few volunteers. • Train the caretakers at the home on basic child care therapy, play therapy and basic first aid for continuity purposes. • Organize creative therapy sessions for the children in order to engage them. • Assist the workers at the home to run the children's home. • Assess the children's well being and create remedies for any problems. • Send in weekly reports to the director of the home and to AIESEC projectdirector. • Assistin fundraising for b a s I c materialsif need be.

This project is located within one of Nairobi’s largest slum, Mathare. The project is located within the Mamma Africa Pendo organization and is meant to change the perception of the locals towards their personal and community health awareness . The project’s main objective is to draw upon business techniques to find solutions to social problems such as poverty and unemployment.
• Teach entrepreneurial and basic financial classes. • Implement strategies for exposing the handmade African products to a large market base through target marketing. • Research on potential business ventures for the ladies. • Manage organization’s website and social media accounts. • Proposal writing, article writing, blogging and vlogging, fund raising to support the organization. • Source for tuition sponsors for some of the children at Mamma Africa Pendo. L’AFRIKANA
(Fashion and Design) L’afrikana is a social brand of garments and home items, made of African textiles and handmade by African refugees based in Kenya. The brand’s aim is to empower it’s members through social inclusion, training and creative work. Tailoring is meant to be a path to financial independence and fashion, as a way to nourish creativity.
• To do trend research and create new garments and patterns according to L’Afrikana table of measures. • To choose fabrics. To teach how to sew the new garments. • To monitor the progress of the work in the workshop. • A Tailoring Teacher to teach how to operate sewing machines; different types of sewing and seam allowances; sew zippers; operate the iron; cut the fabrics; take measures; read and make patterns; sew differenttypesofoutfits. • Art Craft Designer and Teacher to create and facilitate art & craftsclasses

BEYOND DREAMS (Agriculture/Agribusiness)
This project involves a small scale subsistence farm at Zaidi ya Dreams Children’s Home in Ruiru, Kenya, where they hope to develop systems that maximize food production. It strives to equip the farmers and workers with knowledge and skills necessary for improving the agricultural methods and tools used. The main objective is to manage a self sustaining farm for the home. • The intern is required to create agricultural farming systems that work for the home's farm to maximize food production. • The intern is required to train the home's workers on basic agricultural and farming knowledge. • The intern is required to research on farming and market research. • The intern is required to procure and utilize farming input appropriately according to the home's needs and capabilities. • The internis required tosend a progress report to AIESEC and the director of the home every 2 weeks.
