Civil claim of millions looms against murder accused Jandré Dippenaar Erwin Leuschner

The long expected start of the murder trial against Jandré Dippenaar, who stands accused of causing the horrific car accident in December 2014 close to Henties Bay claiming the lives of six people, will only commence in January 2017.

The case was postponed yesterday in the Regional Court of Swakopmund to grant the defence more time to peruse and analyse new pieces of evidence. In the meantime the surviving German tourist, Antonia Joschko, intends to file a civil lawsuit against Dippenaar in the High Court of Namibia.

A defining piece of evidence to solidify the state's case in the murder trial was the main reason for the postponement.

Yesterday it emerged in the Regional Court that the state wishes to use a 202 page long report detailing the exact circumstances surrounding the accident as one of the main pieces of evidence. As the report was only made available to both the state and the defence about a month ago, Magistrate Gaynor Poulton postponed the trial.

“We are very disappointed about the postponement, but we also understand the circumstances and why it happened. It wouldn't have been different in Germany,” said Dr Eberhard Seybold, the law-

yer representing the survivor, Antonia Joschko, yesterday to namib times. He continued: “We wanted to use the evidence of the state's case for our civil law suit, but we will go ahead with our case as soon as possible and file it in the High Court of Namibia.”

The accident occurred on 29 December 2014 about twelve kilometres outside Henties Bay on the road towards Swakopmund.

Dippenaar, who was driving an FJ Cruiser with three passengers, allegedly smashed head-on into a Ford Ranger carrying a German family, who was on holiday in Namibia.

Dippenaar survived with serious injuries, while Dinah Pretorius (30), owner of the vehicle and originally from Gobabis, Charlene Schoonbee (24) from Windhoek and Jan-Carel Horn (27) were killed. Antonia was the sole survivor of the other vehicle, losing her father Walter Helmut Joschko (48), mother Stephanie Dorothea Schemick Joschko (49) and 19year-old sister Alexandra Marlene Joschko.

Jandré Dippenaar is

facing six charges of murder, a charge of driving without a valid licence and a charge of fraud for allegedly pretending to the Roads Authority that his driving license was lost on 17 December 2014 and inducing the RA to issue him with a duplicate without having a valid driver's licence.

“We need more time to prepare our case. We received an extra report, which we are having analysed by an expert from Cape Town and are not ready to proceed,” Defence lawyer Petrie Theron, representing Dippenaar, said. State Prosecutor Hezekiel Iipinge didn't object and said that although the state is ready to proceed, he only received the report in April this year and that it contains “crucial and important information and cannot not be part of the trial.”

Initially the trial was supposed to run for this entire week, but it was now set down to run from 23 January 2017 until 3 February. “I request that we do not delay the trial unnecessarily and that we will commence with the trial on the said date,”

Crosses to mark the place where six people died on 29 December 2014, allegedly as a result of Dippenaar’s reckless driving Magistrate Poulton said. namib times was reliably informed that the report was put together by a private firm from South Africa, specialising in the reconstruction of accident scenes and that the report was commissioned by the insurance firm Hollard.

The newspaper understands that the report details the exact incident and that it includes various incriminating statements.

Amongst others it states in the report that Dippenaar, who was travelling towards Henties Bay, was allegedly driving well above the speed limit and that he overtook three vehicles on a blind crest, thereby causing the horrific accident.

“It was difficult coming back to Namibia,” Antonia Joschko said after the court appearance in an interview with namib times.

“I do love the beautiful country though and have also good memories with my family.

Driving on the road brings back the painful memory though,” she continued. Antonia is a key witness in the state's case and was prepared to be questioned yesterday.

Iipinge will present the state's case, while Dippenaar will be represented by advocate Louis Botha when the trial commences.

Dippenaar will be expected to plead on his next appearance.

The new development is located on the huge erfplot 66 in Ocean View, bordering Stint, Plover and Shearwater Street and is being developed by the Spiranti and Lewies Family Trust. Initially the owner of the erfplot intended to develop a new hotel, but has now instead opted to develop apartments and houses and sell the remainder. For the past two weeks interested parties can buy their dream home for a small fortune and, surprisingly, to top things - four apartments were sold in the first couple of days after marketing commenced.

“This is testimony that there indeed is a huge demand for very high-class property in Swakopmund,” Verena Mostert from Pieter Moster Architecs said to namib times.

The entire erfplot measures a couple of hectares and has been subdivided into various smaller erven, measuring between 12 732 and 2 816 square metres. According to Mostert all erven have been rezoned to general residential 1 and as such offer a great variety of development opportunities.

The biggest subdivided erf is a long, large beachfront area on which the trust intends to develop a variety of apartments. Onebedroom flats will go for N$2.7 million, while the upper-class apartments or Penthouses (three bedrooms) will sell for N$8.5 million.

“We have already sold a couple of units and the interest is quite astounding,” Mostert says.

All apartments include two parking bays and extra reserved parking bays will cost an additional N$100 000 each.

As part of the development, six beachfront erven were chosen to be sold on an auction to be held on 1 July this year. Purchasers can thereafter choose between a couple of house design options from a template to ensure unison with the entire development.

These erven, although they are comparatively smaller than many conventional erven, also come at a hefty price.

The remainder of the property was subdivided into eight “developer erven”, which will also come under the hammer on 1 July.

The sizes vary considerably with the smallest measuring 2816 square metres and the biggest being 5308 square metres.

The reserve price for these properties ranges between N$9.4 million and a whooping N$ 17.7 million.

“The beach area won't be affected by the development and the developer (the trust) will construct a boardwalk on the high water mark and ensure sufficient parking for members of the public visiting the beach area,” Mostert continued.

If the developer does indeed sell all apartments and all erven for the reserve price at the auction, the trust is guaranteed to make a killing.

If you add all properties together the minimum generated income from “Beach Break” will amount to about N$300 million.

Efforts to enquire when the property was bought and how much the original purchase price entailed remained unsuccessful.

80 000 identity cards and over 8 000 passports uncollected About 80 000 Namibian Identity Documents (IDs) and 8 855 Namibian passports remain uncollected from Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration offices nationwide.

Some of the passports have expired, as a result of the long delay in the passport holders collecting these documents.

These figures were revealed at a media briefing in Windhoek on Thursday by Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana.

She said failure to collect such national documents is a chronic problem, and it is not clear whether the problem is with the ministry or with the applicants.

“People come forward to apply for the IDs and they don't collect them.

It is not our responsibility to chase after them in the villages and give them their ID cards; it is for them to come forward and collect their IDs,” the minister stated.

Bay Construction, die reddingskontrakteur wat daarvan beskuldig word van swak bouwerk en afronding by tientalle Build Together huise in Narraville en Kuisebmond op Walvisbaai, het by monde van een van sy direkteure mnr Elwin Naidoo alle beskuldigings as ongegrond afgemaak.

Na aanleiding van klagtes en berigte in die verband in die namib times die afgelope weke, wou ons ook Bay Construction se kant van die saak aanhoor.

Naidoo het die publiek daaraan herinner dat die tender vir die oprigting van die huise aan Bay Construction as 'n redd i n g s t e n d e r o o rgegee is.

Dit is nadat vorige kontrakteurs handdoek ingegooi het en Bay Construction sy bes moes doen met wat van die begroting oorgebly het.

“Ek kan ook met sekerheid sê dat baie van daardie huise nie in die toestand oorgegee is as waarin dit vandag verkeer nie”, sê Naidoo. Hy het bygevoeg die dag toe die huise oorhandig is, was daar munisi-

pale beamptes teenwoordig. “As die huise dan in so 'n swak toestand was, waarom het hulle die huise aanvaar?”

Aldus Naidoo het Bay Construction uit sy pad gegaan om foute te herstel soos wat klagtes ontvang is. Naidoo bevraagteken ook die feit dat baie nou klagtes het, maar dat daar 'n retensietydperk was waartydens klagtes geopper kon word. “Die ontevrede inwoners moet verstaan dat Bay Construction halfklaarhuise, beide Build Together projekte, oorgeneem het. Ons kan tog nie daarvoor verantwoordelik gehou word nie. Ons het hierdie projekte geensins met 'n winsoogmerk afge-handel nie, maar wel met die oogmerk dat behuising dringend verskaf moet

Mnr Kevin Adams van die munisipaliteit van Walvisbaai het ook bevestig dat tydens 'n onlangse besoek in die teen-woordigheid van Naidoo, was inwoners in hul skik met hul huise en met herstelwerk wat gedoen is.

Dit strook wel nie met huisbewoners wat nog steeds onsteld is oor die gehalte werk nie en wat met die munisipaliteit wil onderhandel om hul geld gedeeltelik terug te kry om die herstelwerk self te doen nie.

Voorts sê Naidoo geen huiseienaar kan ooit gevrywaar word van probleme nie.

Die huiseienaar sal ongelukkig op 'n tydstip self verantwoordelikheid moet neem vir instandhouding.

Erwin Leuschner Two Chinese nationals were injured in a serious motor vehicle accident on the B2 highway close to Vergenoeg between Arandis and Usakos on Saturday afternoon.

Swakopmund Court Report Regional Court: Maria Mushako (19) appeared on charges of murder read with provisions of domestic violence act, act 4 of 2003 and birth concealment. The matter was postponed to 19 May for judgement. The accused is out on bail of N$2 000 Urban Uamburu (30) appeared on charges of rape and abduction. The matter was postponed to 15 July for typing of record. The accused remains in custody.

Simon Nandjepo (36) appeared on a charge of rape. The matter was postponed to 17 may for submissions. The accused is out on bail of N$2 000.

Magistrate Court: Nestor Daniel (39) and Hofeni Amakali (39) appeared on charges of housebreaking and theft. The matter was postponed to 8 August for Prosecutor General's decision. The accused remains in custody.

Ewalt Taurob (26) appeared on a charge of common assault. The matter was postponed to 1 August for plea and trial. The accused remains in custody.

Riaan Uirab (34) appeared on a charge of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft.

The matter was postponed to 28 July for plea and trial. The accused is out on bail of N$3 000.

Merlyn Ehileme (36) appeared on a charge of theft by false pretences. The matter was postponed to 18 May for other reasons. The accused remains in custody.

Fiona Pienaar (24) appeared on charges of theft. The matter was postponed to 31 August for plea and trial. The accused is out on bail of N$3 000.

Selvin Booysen (34) appeared on a charge of extortion. The matter was postponed to 01 June for further investigation. The accused remains in custody.

Crime prevention is all about being aware of your environment and remaining alert to situations that could make you an easy target to crime. Here are a few suggestions and examples of common sense behaviour that will help you make life safer and more secure.

According to the West Coast Safety Initiative (WCSI), the driver of a luxury sedan vehicle had to take evasive action, when a piece of furniture fell from a trailer being pulled by a bakkie. The driver left the road and lost control of the vehicle, which subsequently crashed into to a tree on the side of the road.

While the driver sustained serious injuries, the passenger only sustained light injuries.

Both were treated at the scene and were transported to Usakos for further treatment.

In another incident concerning the Erongo region a motor vehicle accident was reported on Sunday afternoon on the road at Nonidas

leading to the smallholdings. According to the WCSI it appears that the driver of a sedan was distracted and tried to execute a Uturn, not noticing an approaching vehicle.

One person sustained minor injuries and was admitted to the Swakopmund State Hospital for treatment.

Try to make contact when you get to your workplace and again before leaving to go home. · Ensure that your cell phone is always on and charged. · Carry your work keys in your hand when you are approaching the appropriate doors, keeping them readily available. Make sure doors are closed and locked behind you. · Keep your workstation or office locked after hours. · When you return to your vehicle, look around for suspicious persons nearby.

NCCI Swakopmund branch elects new chairperson Liesl Losper

The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) Swakopmund branch has elected Paul Ndjambula as its new chairperson during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) that was held last week Thursday.

Paul Ndjambula is a Swakopmund resident and a young and vibrant businessman. Ndjambula succeeds Heinrich Hafeni who took on the position of chairperson in 2014. Hafeni said he wants to give an opportunity to other NCCI members and this is the reason why his name was not on the nominee list. This year the meeting was poorly attended, but the decision had to be made.

The new vice chairperson is Andre Plaatjies, the Treasurer is Ruth Davis and the four exco members who were nominated are Penny Du Toit, Christine Visser, Marilyn Eibes and Alpheus Gowaseb. Hafeni said that he is very happy that his successor is a young man who have a passion for business “when I was elected, nobody from my group wanted to take this big responsibility on, but I see dedication in this group. These people have availed themselves as nominees, they are very brave, and not everyone can do that.”

Ndjambula urged the Swakopmund business community to engage with the committee members and to help them do what is right instead of complaining about what is not being done or what is lacking “ I am very glad that you have placed your trust in me, but I want us to work as a team in order to reach our goals.”

Now the world’s biggest liner Local shipping companies shared the news over the weekend on social media of the largest passenger ship, Harmony of the Seas, that has departed a shipyard in France on her maiden voyage to Southampton.

With a length of 362 meters this passenger liner has the capacity to carry 6360 passengers, boasts 2500 state rooms, 20 dining venues and 23 swimming pools. The sixteen deck ship has an own park on board with 10 000 plants and 50 trees.

The Harmony of the Seas will sail the western Mediterranean for the duration of the northern hemisphere's summer before relocating to Florida and the Caribbean by November this year.

Namibian Talent shines on O&L Mwenyopaleka Road Show NAMIBIAN TALENT SHINES ON O&L MWENYOPALEKA ROAD SHOW “While the annual Mwenyopaleka Road Show is aimed at investing in the growth of Ohlthaver & List (O&L) employees across the country, it at the same time is a platform to promote Namibian talent and skills in line with the Group's purpose of 'Creating a future, Enhancing life'. As a result, every single individual that forms part of this road show is Namibian,” said O&L Group Manager: Employee Engagement, Sonja Thieme.

Namibian artist Big Ben is no stranger to the local music scene, and was just crowned Best Male Artist of the Year at the 2016 Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs).

He is also the main entertainer on the 2016 'Mwenyopaleka Road Show'. This multiaward winning artist is considered as one of the pioneers of modern/contemporary Namibian music and has consistently released and performed original music with a strong blend of traditional sounds, and in local languages. His footprints stretch across Namibia and Europe. He also composed and produced the O&L City Anthem, and performs it on the road show.

Actors that bring to life the values of the O&L Group through drama on the road show are led by Namibian veteran Laurinda Olivier-Sampson Senior lecturer in Drama, and Head of Department: Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Namibia (UNAM). Olivier-Sampson: “Actors on this year's road show, as well as previous years are local drama students and actors. Some are UNAM students, others alumni and the rest from the community at large, but the entire cast is Namibian.

to include performers from the community to work with UNAM students – this is a learning experience for both groups.”

The production crew include dB Audio Namibia which has been involved with Mwenyopaleka for most of the project's 12 years of existence. People miraculously escaped Henties Bay head-on collision Five persons, amongst them Italian and Chinese tourists, were injured during a serious accident on Wednesday around midday at the C34 Henties Bay/Spitzkoppe intersection following a collision between three vehicles. Although it was described as a high speed impact and the cars showed considerable damage, miraculously the injuries sustained were not life-threatening.

The role of credit bureau’s in emerging markets Being able to extend credit based on informed decisions can fuel economic growth, increase consumer access to essential resources and enable more efficient allocation of risk, costs and financial reserves. The reason for this is simple: where access to information is asymmetrical or unavailable, access to lending and credit resources becomes more difficult, expensive and inefficient.

In contrast, access to consumer credit information enables consumers and private companies to freely transact with each other as the more objective information the business has, the more accurately it can meet consumer needs and preferences.

Across Africa, we are seeing more and more countries drive the implementation of the necessary regulatory framework to ensure greater financial inclusion that is underpinned by fair and equal access to credit information by consumers and businesses.

The credit bureau industry exists to manage the credit information of both consumers and businesses and to provide a comprehensive view of the risk associated with a lending decision.

For consumers, access to their own credit profile creates the opportunity to monitor and manage their credit standing in a proactive

and sustainable way. It's important to remember that everyone needs to keep track of their own credit obligations and credit bureaus can help consumers to manage their own personal financial reputation and in turn the way lenders view their ability to pay back their loans.

The extension of credit is becoming more and more prevalent across Africa. As consumers seek to better their financial situation through access to additional funds, it is often that too much debt is taken up without the monetary means to meet the repayments. The habit of repaying debt obligations on time and as per the credit agreement is not as consistent as it should be. Credit, although extremely important and beneficial to personal development can sometimes pose a daunting risk.

Knowing how to manage your financial situation is key to improving the way lenders view your credit standing and

therefore the way in which they will extend credit to you: at what amount, term and interest rate.

For many consumers, being told they have a negative credit listing is unhelpful as they are unaware of exactly what the issue is. The nonpayment of loans can adversely affect credit rating and access to credit when more is needed. Armed with their credit report, individuals can easily identify areas that may be reducing their credit rating. The credit bureau can help individuals with action plans to rectify their credit standing as well as continue to manage their financial obligations.

But it is not only individual consumers that benefit from working with the credit bureau.

For lenders, the value and quality of the data and risk management solutions that a credit bureau can provide is immense.

For business it is vital to find, gain and retain profitable customers. The

Construction of a liquid bulk terminal, better known as phase 1 of the SADC Gateway Port project has progressed to 38 % complete, according to latest reports by the Namibia Ports Authority (Namport). This facility is situated directly north of Walvis Bay and will in time expand to form the SADC Gateway Port. Ÿ

1. Construction of this liquid bulk terminal include two 60 000 dwt tanker berths and a system of pipelines to bring petroleum products to land for storage. Phase 1 is funded by the Namibian Ministry of Mines and Energy and construction commenced in March 2014. Commissioning of this liquid bulk terminal is scheduled for 2017.

Chinese construction giant, China Harbour and Engineering Company (CHEC) has successfully bid for this project and is also the contractor of the new container terminal on reclaimed land on the south end of the port of Walvis Bay. 2. On the picture above the full scale of the construction project is visible - temporary structures makes provision for the construction of the two tanker berths. Extensive dredging work is also taking place at the same time to facilitate construction, but a new entrance channel to the liquid bulk terminal and future SADC Gateway Port is also included in the work.

3. Dredging spoil is pumped onto an area of land east of the construction project and serves as a landfill project where the port of Walvis Bay envisages in the future to construct more cargo sheds and other types of land storage facilities. The landfill project is visible from the B2 coastal road.

Phase 2 of SADC Gateway Port cannot continue unless court settles matter between Nampower and Arandis Power Phase 2 of the SADC Gateway Port, the construction of a liquid natural gas terminal has been put on hold indefinitely, after a legal row erupted between national power utility Nampower and Arandis Power, a company that envisages the construction of a power station at Arandis to satisfy Namibia's short term power needs.

The basis of the legal challenge by Arandis Power is a rival tender, Xaris Energy (Pty) Ltd, who was favoured by Nampower in the bidding process. The legal challenge left no option for the Namibia Ports Authority (Namport) to place the liquid natural gas terminal on hold indefinitely.

Xaris Energy envisages a 250mw natural gas fired power station east of the dune belt near Dune 7.

Liquid natural gas would be pumped from this liquid natural gas terminal at SADC Gateway Port via a system of gas pipelines to the power plant.

Simultaneously Xaris also envisages to utilise semi-purified effluent from the Walvis Bay Municipality's sewerage works as cooling agent. For that purpose a water pipeline is to be constructed from the semi-purified effluent pans southeast of Walvis Bay to the Xaris project. Not only will this provide Walvis Bay with an opportunity to utilise semi-purified effluent more efficiently, but the Xaris-project would buy the water from the local authority, opening a new income opportunity.

At the time of going to press the trial in the Windhoek High Court between Arandis Power and Nampower is scheduled to start on 7 June this year.

An example of a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU). Natural gas can be stored in large volumes and transported safely by sea in a liquified form. At a liquid natural gas terminal the liquified gas is returned to gas form and transported by pipeline where required. Xaris foresees to use a FSRU platform and transport the gas via pipeline to the Walvis Bay power plant.

Arandis Power’s concept In mid-2014 Arandis Power said its hybrid solar power and waste oil fired power station would cost around N$3 billion and could contribute as much as 26 % of the country’s future electricity supply.

Plans were to construct the power station at Arandis where the company said is adequate terrain and weather conditions to warrant a solar power plant. Waste oil is in abundance in Namibia, originating from shipping, mining and other industries and designs made provision for a power generating unit using used oil which is burnt in high-tech units to produce maximum electricity and with minimum environmental effects.

These plans remain in limbo, as the company is fighting Nampower in a high stakes court battle to be awarded the tender for the construction of this power station.

Currently the rival Xaris Energy has been awarded the tender for the construction of a gas fired power station near Walvis Bay, but the trial is set to begin on June 7th in the Windhoek High Court to determine which of the two players will be developing Namibia’s next power station.

Ellina Theron, owner of the LinaMoo Charity shop said “Our clients bring in their goods which they no longer have use for and we sell it and donate the money to the various charity organisations as per their request.” In this shop you will find things you never expected and may even need yourself.

From books, materials, cooking essentials, clothes, shoes and all at very reasonable prices. They recently gave a donation to the SCPA. One of their clients also requested a camera, which they would like to purchase for the police department to be used in their Women and child abuse section, as well as blankets, which have been recently been delivered to the police.

Zimbabwe once again crowned as COSSASA champion Sharlien Tjambari th

This past Saturday Zimbabwe was crowned as the champion of the 17 Confederation of School's Sport Associations of Southern Africa (COSSASA) athletics games. The games took place at the Vineta Sports Stadium from 12-14 May. Over 500 athletes from Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Angola and Namibia took part in the COSSASA games this year. The majority of athletes were from Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the Ministry of Sports and Culture, the Director of Sport Mr Edelberth Sivhute Katamba said sport has an inherent value, “the acts of competing and spectating form an important part of our culture. Our sport are national passions and commercial assets”. Katamba further said that sport teaches people incredibly important lessons about life, the joy of triumph and also about learning to be resilient when people lose, and to lose with grace.

The closing awards ceremony was held at the Mondesa Multipurpose Centre. The award for Best Junior Female Field went to Chriselene Klein of Namibia with 914 points in High Jump, Best Male Field award went to Reuben Wedu of Botswana who obtained 786 points in High Jump.

Chriselene Klein also received an award for Best U/13 Female Athlete and Junior Vitrix Ludorum.

Another Namibian athlete who performed well was Natalie Louw, she received an award for Best U/17 Female Athlete and an award for Senior Vitrix Ludorum.

Zimbabwe walked away with a total of 55 metals containing of 21 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 14 bronze. Namibia who received the second place award, had 52 medals consisting of 18 gold, 19 silver and 15 bronze medals. Botswana went home with 36 medals of which 9 were gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze. Lesotho had 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. It is the third time in a row that Zimbabwe wins the COSSASA games and that Namibia also takes second place position.

During the closing ceremony Mr Fedelis Tibinyani, the Chairperson of Namibia School Sport Union said the union will try to get as many Southern African countries to participate in the next COSSASA games.

Klein-Nienaber breaks Cossasa High jump records LieslLosper Losper Liesl Wellknown, Namibian under-13 athlete Chrislene Klein-Nienaber break a record at the Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa (Cossasa) Athletics Championships in Swakopmund on Saturday.

UNAM sinks Kudus on home turf

Crislene Klein-Nienaber showed again her commitment in sport for her region and Namibia. She is the high jump champ record holder. KleinNienaber crossed the high jump bar at 1.57 metres (m), breaking the previous record of 1.50m set by Namibia’s Jewel Engelbrecht in Botswana in 2012. Not only did she achieve this achievement, but she is Best U/13 female athlete, best field athlete and Junior Victrix Ludorum.

Different views from spectators said that Namibia was on top and the only downfall for them was in the relays.

Windhoek-based Namibia Rugby Premier League outfit UNAM beat Kudus 22-05 here on Saturday to improve their points on the log standing.

UNAM are third on the log with 29 points from their eight Rugby Premier League matches played thus far.

Going into round eight of the Rugby Premier League, UNAM were third, level on 24 points on the log with United, while Kudus were in sixth position with 16 points from seven games.

In their clash on Saturday at the Narraville Stadium in Walvis Bay, Kudus missed three penalties in the first half through Ivo Croza in the second minute of the game, Reyton Paulse in the ninth minute and Anthony Jevu in the 25th minute.

Visiting team UNAM opened the scoring in the 12th minute of the game after Unomasa Kavatia ran in his team's first try. Lorenzo Louis missed the conversion. The home side did not take long to level the score as Chris Klaasen ran in his team's only try of the game in the 16th minute and Nicasio Schoombe missed the conversion, but the score was level at 05-05 for both teams just 20 minutes into the game.

Before the half-time break UNAM were handed a penalty. Louis missed from the spot but the visiting team still managed to extend their points after Thomas Kali scored UNAM's second try of the game and Louis converted from the spot to give them a 12-05 half time lead. In the second half, Louis scored a penalty for UNAM on the 46th minute of the game to extend their lead to 15 points to 05.

UNAM's third and last try of the game was scored

by Zikamee Kaura, which Louis once again converted. The final score was 22-05 for the visitors who collected five points to keep their hopes of returning the Premier League title at the end of the season alive. In other results on Saturday, Wanderers beat Walvis Bay 59-10, United thrashed Rehoboth 47-17 in Windhoek and Falcons narrowly defeated Western Suburbs 21-16.

Wanderers are top of the log with 41 points, followed by United with 30 points. UNAM are third on 29 points, while Suburbs dropped from second position to fourth on 26 points. Falcons are fifth on 25 points; while Kudus are sixth on 16 points; Rehoboth seventh (13 points) and Dolphins eighth on six points.
