namib times reporter and children on sport tour witness fighter jet crash Floris Steenkamp A reporter of namib times, and children he accompanied to the African Kickboxing Championships in Gaborone in Botswana, were in for a shock on 27 April when they witnessed the last seconds of a Botswana air force plane which went down, killing the pilot. Rudi Bowe, his son Raymundu Bowe and two of his friends Giano Alcock and Hugo Jones were standing at the Game City mall in Gaborone, marveling at two CF-5 air force jets in the sky rehearsing their flight display manoeuvres for the up-
coming Botswana Defense Force Day celebrations. In a split second one of the jets peeled off formation and crashed in a fireball on the Gaborone golf course. “We were absolutely shocked to have witnessed the incident, albeit from a far distance. The children af-

Upon our return to Walvis Bay we saw on the news the pilot died in the crash. Our thoughts are with the pilot’s loved one ever since”, Bowe said.

Residents of a complex in 5th Road in Walvis Bay were alerted to the hysterical scream of a woman at around 19:30 on Saturday, only to learn to their horror it was actually a domestic dispute getting seriously out of hand after a man caught his wife redhanded cheating on him with another man. “We just heard the screams and soon we realised there is big trouble and unless the police is called someone will get hurt or even killed”, said a nearby neighbour on condition of anonymity.
