Bekende in rugbykringe Nico van der Westhuizen sterf dae na hartomleiding

Die gemeenskap van Walvisbaai, in besonder plaaslike rugbykringe, het die naweek met skok kennis geneem van die afsterwe van mnr Nico van der Westhuizen enkele dae nadat hy ‘n hartomleiding in Windhoek ondergaan het. Van der Westhuizen (45) was ‘n steunpilaar van plaaslike rugby. Hy het na skool onder andere vir Walvisbaai Rugbyklub en ook Kudus op die veld gedraf en sal vir sy latere insette by die Walvisbaai Rugbyklub onthou word. Van der Westhuizen was die afgelope jare ook by skoleafrigting betrokke. Van der Westhuize het verlede Dinsdag ‘n hartomleiding in Windhoek ondergaan, maar het dae later aan vermoedlik ‘n hartaanval gesterf.

Namport awards its biggest clients at Port Users function Namport recorded a 19 percent increase of TEU's shipped in the month of September through the port of Walvis Bay. This very commendable figure was revealed recently at Namport's annual port-users function where the ports authority give recognition to its clients.

Vehicle stolen - gun left in vehicle also missing Eileen van der Schyff Incidents of motor vehicle theft continues at the coast. In the latest incident on Sunday, a silver Hyundai Getz was stolen in front of Trust Market on the corner of Rikumbi Kandanga Road and Sam Nujoma Avenue. What makes the incident more alarming is the fact that a .22 calibre pistol was in the car and is now lost along with the vehicle. The Namibian Police on Sunday issued an alert stating two men were seen driving away with the vehicle. That was according to an eyewitness report. The stolen car's registration number is N26335WB (picture on page 3). The owner is a certain Mr Joseph Kaswama (33).

The top five revenuebased clients for the port for 2019 were announced at the function as: Maersk Namibia (Pty) Ltd; Woker Freight Services (Pty) Ltd; Trade Ocean Shipping Namibia; Logistics Support Services (Pty) Ltd and Sturrock Grindrod Maritime (Namibia). The function was attended by more than 100 stakeholders in the maritime fraternity, with the aim of appreciating all those who

have made use of the Port's facilities in 2019. At the same function, awards were conferred to various entities in different categories such as the Top 5 Revenue based Clients, Top 3 Volume based Clients and Top 3 SME's for 2019 at the Port of Walvis Bay. “The Namibian Ports Authority has in the month of September 2019 recorded a commendable increase of 19 percent of twentyfoot equivalent unit

(TEU)'s shipped and 33 percent of TEU's that landed at the Port of Walvis Bay, in comparison to September 2018”, remarked Mr. Kavin Harry, Namport's Acting Chief Executive Officer at the function.
