Fishermen in distress Madelaine Laubscher A fire started on a boat at the Namport Syncrolift on Saturday afternoon in Walvis Bay, after workers were supposedly busy grinding on the boat. The incident occurred approximately 14:20 and after witnessing a
ball of smoke rising scene. The Fire Briinto the air, the namib gade arrived half an times rushed to the hour later and the fire
was extinguished. According to a source, “a spark caused the fire, while workers were busy grinding on the boat.� The
newspaper contacted a spokesperson at Namport to enquire on the extend of the damages caused and also an official re-
sponse on how the fire started, but it proved futile. It is understood that nobody was injured.
