In another tragic incident a family's house was razed in a fire in Swakopmund's Vineta suburb on Saturday. The Karibib tragedy unfolded on Friday at around 17:45 in Karibib's Usab location in Kasinga Street. The owner of a Toyota pick-up went to sleep, only for a certain Kondjeni Mwatukange (22) to steal the keys to the vehicle and speeding off. Only weeks after an elephant ventured on the outskirts of Swakopmund, yet another unusual visitor were found venturing the holiday town’s streets. This time, over the weekend, it was a springbok which was promptly caught and relocated to spot far outside town where it can continue its natural existence, far from human activities. Tommy’s Tours, Swakopmund Neighbourhood Watch and the municipal traffic authorities were thanked by the Swakopmund S.P.C.A. for rendering assistance to get the buck back to nature.
