It was not an easy week for several people at the coast who make a profession of burglary and theft. Two burglars were caught red handed and arrested committing a burglary at a church in Swakopmund earlier this week, whilst the man who was shot at and arrested in Walvis Bay's lagoon suburb on Monday turned out to be a career criminal, wanted for burglaries by the Swakopmund police.
Nampol spokesperson, Commissioner Otillie Kashuupulwa, confirmed the man arrested on Monday in the lagoon suburb is Aino Kapero. He is wanted by the Namibian Police for burglaries committed in Swakopmund's Mondesa suburb and for escaping from lawful custody. Kapero tried to stab two members of the public with a pocket knife on Monday during his arrest.

A security official also fired two shots at Kapero. The two suspects arrested for the church burglary on Wednesday got more than what they bargained for when they also gained entry to a house on the same premises. There they were overpowered and pinned down until the police came and carried out the arrest. See pictures on page 2
