Walvis Bay is set to get a mega beef storage facility, among others to facilitate beef exports to China. Although not mentioning the Chineseconnection by name, Namibia’s Head of State Dr. Hage Geingob in his State of the Nation Address (SoNa) last week Wednesday said the servicing of 34 hectares of industrial land at Walvis Bay's Ha !Nara Namib Industrial Park will be completed during the current financial year (2018-2019). The size will eventually reach 400 hectares and will be accommodating
both local and international business undertakings. The beef storage facility will cover four hectares and will be the staging area for beef exports to China through the port of Walvis Bay. According to the President in his SoNa, the establishment of this facility is a vital building block in Namibia's quest to opt i m i s e N a m i b i a ’s meat export capacity. The port of Walvis Bay is expected to become the hub of the country’s meat ex-

Speaking to namib times this week a spokesperson for the Walvis Bay municipality, Anita Kaihiva, confirmed council has allocated land for this industrial park at Farm 58, behind the dune belt. Kaihiva confirmed the Namibia Development Cooperation (NDC) will be responsible for the servicing of the land.
