Seventeen-year-old cyclist breaks collarbone and arm as robbers attack him Erwin Leuschner

A seventeen-year-old boy broke his collarbone and arm in Swakopmund on Saturday, when two robbers threw him off his bicycle in an attempt to steal from him. The incident took place a stone's throw from the Sam Cohen Library in the town's Sam Nujoma Avenue, in broad daylight. This is the boy's second time in the course of a year to fall victim to armed robbery whilst cycling. Thanks to the speedy reaction of eyewitnesses the criminals didn't manage to steal anything. “The audacity of the criminals is unbelievable,” the angered father of the teenager told namib times. He wishes to keep the identity of his son anonymous. The news of the incident spread like wildfire throughout the town of Swakopmund over the weekend especially since these types of occurrences are unheard of for such a relatively small town. The 17-year-old was cycling towards town to have lunch with his mom, when the criminals pounced on him on the pavement area close to the Sam Cohen Library. The incident was witnessed by two people, who were waiting at the Service Station at the car wash across the street. They reported to have seen two people grab

the teenager by his backpack, causing him to fall and break his right collar bone and right arm. “The witnesses ran over immediately to his assistance, which is why the c r i m i n a l s r a n o ff without taking anything,” the father continued saying. No arrests have been made yet. Shortly afterwards Eagle Christian Ambulance Service arrived at the scene and took the victim to hospital where he was treated for the bruises and broken bones. “This is not the first time tough,” the father said. Exactly a year ago his son was also attacked in an attempted robbery while cycling. This incident occurred in Libertina Amathila Avenue and also happened in broad daylight. Staff of the Municipality of Walvis Bay and councillors Penelope Martin and Saarah Shailemo planted this White Karee tree at the civic centre on Friday, as part of Earth Day celebrations. Earth Day marked a very important milestone for all nations of the world on Friday, the signing of the Paris Climate Change deal in which all nations commit themselves in the fight against global warming.
