inside Elections 2019 Fishrot Scandal An Update upon us Namibia goes to the polls in the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, with voting stations opening at 07:00 till 21:00 tomorrow, Wednesday 27 November. The polls close at 21:00, so you better be in the queue by 21:00 if you want to cast your vote. Only voters with eligible voters cards will be allowed to vote. People are also requested not to arrive at the polling stations under the influence of alcohol, wear any political party colours, engage in any form of intimidation or unruly behaviour and not to jump queues. It is also expected this year that place reservations in queues will also not be tolerated, as it is unfair to other voters waiting in the queue. Take along water, something to eat and for those standing in the sun a decent hat, umbrella and a chair. Voting day is a public holiday. Namibian politics finds itself in unchartered waters only hours after the election. The Presidential Elections will see Swapo Presidential candidate and current President of the Republic, Dr Hage Geingob, up against an independent candidate, Dr Panduleni Itula. Massive consignment of railway tracks landed A consignment of railway tracks, totalling 7 500 metric tons were discharged in Walvis Bay over the past few days. The 3 860 individual lengths of rail are destined for the upgrading of the Walvis Bay to Kranzberg stretch of railway line. Kranzberg station is located between Usakos and Karibib where the northern railway line connects. The cargo vessel Vestis Isle delivered the rail track. According to a statement by the Namibia Ports Authority this is the second delivery of railway tracks. In July a batch of 6 679 was delivered. In total 20 000 tons of railway track will be utilised for the project. The full statement reads: “The second

consignment of about 3860 steel rails, around 7500 metric tonnes, was discharged from the general cargo vessel Vestis Isle at the Port of Walvis Bay on Thursday, 21 November 2019. The rails are meant for the upgrading of the Walvis Bay to Kranzberg railway line section, which is about 210 km. In late July this year the first batch of 6679

tonnes of steel rails arrived at the Port. This was part of a consignment of 20 000 tonnes intended for upgrading of the railway infrastructure.
