Minors a regular sight at Swakopmund drinking spot Seafarers done waiting

Madelaine Laubscher An entertainment club in Swakopmund's Tamariskia suburb is allegedly frequented by groups of underaged teens, believed to be as young as thirteen years old. A mother of one of these under-aged teens apparently traced her daughter to this club recently. To her shock and horror she supposedly found more under-aged children at the club, drinking and smoking unhindered. Adding salt to the injury, is an allegation that both the Namibian Police and Swakopmund Neighbourhood Watch have been aware of the situation for several weeks now, but this serious matter remains unattended. According to this mother the children have become too clever for them over weekends. “This trend started about two months ago. After we instructed them they are not allowed to go out (hanging out at places where minors are not allowed or straying all over town during the night hours) they found ways to sneak out. As children often do, they pretend to participate in sleepovers at friends' homes, which only

provides an alibi to visit this drinking spot,” the furious mother added. After becoming aware of the situation, the mother of the said minor obtained the contact details of other parents. Together, they claim to have had many restless nights looking for their children, allegedly finding them smoking and drinking along with other minors at the said drinking place. “I managed to get hold of the contact numbers of the other parents. We now have made it our mission to go look for our children, as we have found them during the early hours of the morning outside this bar in the past. It is believed that minors from as far as Walvis Bay are regular patrons at this drinking spot. “When I asked the bar lady who the owner of the
