laboratories to conduct PCR tests in Namibia). In addition, most of the accredited laboratories for COVID-19 PCR testing can be found by visiting the Trusted Travel portal (africacdc.org/trusted-travel). To find accredited laboratories, travelers must indicate their current origin and intended destination. travelers can create their accounts at trustedtravel.panabios.org (See Annexure B). 2. When a COVID-19 test has been run, the laboratory will generate a Trusted Travel (TT) test code that can be verified by Airlines and Port Health Authorities to confirm that the test came from an accredited laboratory. 3. travelers will then receive a text message from Pana Bios and an email from the testing laboratory with a link that will allow the traveler to create an account on trustedtravel.panabios.org and access the Trusted Travel Test (TT) Code. travelers must use the same email address and phone number that they gave to the laboratory for creating an account. 4. If the test results issued satisfy the full requirements set by the Namibian government and the country of destination (for example, validity period or test type), then a Travel Trusted Travel Test (TT) Code will be issued to the traveler for presentation to airlines and Port Health Authorities. 5. Whilst the Trusted Travel Test (TT) Code confirms that a test was performed by an accredited laboratory, the code provides additional evidence that the test performed is still valid at the time of travel since results can expire and regulations may change at any time as the pandemic evolves. 6. When travelers present themselves to their port of departure or arrival, the port health officials will use the code provided to verify that their results meet all other requirements. 7. Inbound-travelers with results from non-Trusted Travel-compliant laboratories will be required to upload a copy of their results on the Global Haven System (19WW.globalhaven.org) for authentication. 8. Uploading forged documents will inhibit the ability to travel globally. The Trusted Travel Platform will be available for use from 15 November 2021 at the following ports of entry:

Duinesig hosts career week Rudi Bowe

Duinesig High School recently set the 'Dream-Plan-Achieve' agenda in motion with their first-ever educational career week at the school in Walvis Bay's Kuisebmond. The career week was held in an effort to focus learners on a certain career path, instil a sense of purpose from an early age and to equipping learners with knowledge about different institutions for future studies. So many senior learners are uninformed or struggle to make choices for their future careers or tertiary education. Numerous institutions exhibited and shared the available study opportunities with learners of Duinesig High School, Kuisebmond Secondary School De Duine Secondary School, Tutaleni High School and Flamingo Secondary School in Walvis Bay. The Deputy Mayor of Walvis Bay, Saara Mutondoka, said that the spectrum of institutions presented at the career week will provide an insightful perspective on job scopes and opportunities in different fields. The Deputy Mayor expressed her gratitude to the school for hosting and organising the career week. “It serves as a great platform for learners and teachers to do some research, since the institutions at career fairs provide a huge amount of information and experience.” She also encouraged learners to make use of the opportunity, as it might help them in the challenging task of deciding on their career path. Acting Walvis Bay circuit inspector, Joseph Martin, delivered a speech on behalf of the Erongo Education Director, Ernfriede Stephanus, who said that the formal education circular number 03/2018 emphasises how to effectively and successfully implement and manage the curriculum. The same circular highlighted three important aspects namely, strong curriculum leadership, management and support at national, circuit and school level and strong parent and community support. It also directed each school to have a career guidance week and that all schools offering grade 9 should organise a parent/learners guidance session to guide learners on subjects that are offered in grades 10-12 and that the career guidance should be held in collaboration with high education institutions. The Principal of Duinesig High School SG Uri-Khob labelled the career week a guiding tool. “It must serve as an eye-opener and above all, broaden our learners' horizons. The diversity represented speaks to the diverse abilities, skills and talents of the human race,” he said. Uri-Khob emphasised that if at an early age learners have the right information about different career paths, focused learners and goal-driven learners will transform into determined students who will not change majors every year. The principal thanked all the exhibitors for accepting to explore, guide and provide consultation to the learners.

Work together to prevent hunger and malnutrition Rudi Bowe

As Namibia is experiencing acute food insecurity leading to malnutrition in the country due to the prolonged dry spells, flooding and loss of income due to impacts of COVID-19 control measures on livelihoods, Promiseland Trust and Good Food Namibia have joined forces to work together to prevent hunger and malnutrition and to actively address food insecurity concerns in Walvis Bay. To kick start this partnership Promiseland Trust held a nutrition workshop last Friday 29 October with the aim to empower food providers to care for vulnerable children and to encourage Namibians to change their views related to the value of nutrition especially related to children. This platform was also used spurring the audience that included soup kitchen/centres staff, vulnerable children, government officials, specialists in gardening, nutritionist, chef, implementers of related programs, greater public, trustees and sponsors on how to produce and supply nutritional food from their backyard gardens to their families and also the communities. Walvis Bay mayor Trevino Forbes said that urban agriculture increases access to healthy, affordable, fresh produce and provides communities with opportunities to learn about nutrition and growing food. It encourages the community and all Namibians to know where food comes from, how it's grown and creates connections with the people who grow it. The mayor calls on every Namibians to take hands and strengthen initiatives to provide nutritional food to the underprivileged. Co-founder of Good Food Namibia Marelise Serfortein said that about 40% of Namibians are underfed and an estimated 23% of children suffer from stunted growth. “This should not happen. People should not go hungry. We can all work together to prevent hunger and malnutrition” Serfortein said. The chairperson of the Promiseland Trust Yvette Greeff said that their partners in education, Headstart Montessori College provide their expertise and internationally recognised syllabus.

“Promiseland feeds 60 children aged between 3 and 5 years at the centre every day with more than 2,500 children with a meal and runs a soup kitchen, catering for +- 200 children every day” Greeff said. Nutritionist Karen Templin from Walvis Bay hosted a crash course on optimizing food fuels, and the different categories of food and Friederich Alpers hosted a short demonstration pertaining to alternative growing and feeding processes, focusing on locally produced fruit and vegetables. Everyone that attended the event received a seedling to take home to kick start their own urban garden project. Good Food Namibia in the past 12 months provided support to more than 600 households' urban gardening mainly women and unemployed youth in Karas, Erongo, Hardap and Khomas Regions respectively. The focus is on resources and knowledge on how to maximize food production post COIVD-19 pandemic. Promiseland has teaming up with Good Food Namibia and Joel Parks with Miss Namibia Chelsi Shikongo host a fun day and an awareness campaign on 30 October at Dunes Mall in Walvis Bay. The fun day was held as part of various community upliftment projects and for the empowering vulnerable children to reach their full potential and Good Food Namibia also launched their Starter Kit comprises of a wooden box, compost, seeds, seedlings, basic equipment and info on starting and maintaining a vegetable garden. Good Food Namibia handed out 2,600 seedlings at the event at Dunes Mall as part of their Adopt a Seedling for free and start your own garden. Promiseland thanked everyone who contributed to the success of our Fun Day and everyone that attended the event at Dunes Mall.

Mubatapasango scoops Spirit Award Rudi Bowe A Zimbabwean born Ultra-marathon runner, Mabasa Mubatapasango, living in Swakopmund, scooped the Spirit Award on Saturday, 30 October 2021, at the seven-day, 250 km footrace Namib Race that started on 24 October 2021 in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, and finished at Tiger Reef in host town, Swakopmund. The 4 Deserts series consisted of the N a m i b R a c e (Namibia), The Gobi March (Mongolia), the Atacama Crossing (Chile) and the Last desert (Antarctica) and is widely recognised as the most prestigious outdoor footrace series in the world organised by the Racing the Planet. Mubatapasango, the only African in the race, said his journey is funny, as he only started running to lose weight after having being inspired by the 2017 edition of the race whilst doing their satellite but now, he is an ultra-marathoner, a term that he still had to get used to. Mubatapasango said, “I did run for Africa”, this was evident as he wore with pride a running shirt with a Zimbabwean and Namibian flag.

According to Mubatapasango, the 4 Desert Race is a unique and special race he would recommend to anyone who is looking for a new challenge, willing to push the limits or companies that want to do team building. “My next goal is to do the remaining three races Atacama, Gobi and Antarctica. I would like to extend an invitation to willing corporates to partner with me and we change many stories together,” Mubatapasango said. Mubatapasango, popular with supporting juniors in tennis, cricket and mentorship extended his appreciation to Erongo businesses that worked with him during his journey, these include: Ruan Mocke and Marieke kirchner, Brew and Bristles, Fusion wellness Spa, footworx, Paratus and
