The CEO of the Namibian partner of Namibia flyafrica, Clifford Strydom of Nomad Aviation, has confirmed to the namib times that the airline will be introducing direct flights from Walvis Bay to Johannesburg and Cape Town by mid-2015. He spoke to the namib times from Cape Town, after the official launch of the Cape Town leg of the flight plan. Return flights between Windhoek and Johannesburg and Windhoek and Cape Town, taxes included, will cost around N$2 000.
Strydom said prices for return flights to and from Walvis Bay would cost more or less the same. He confirmed that they are definitely looking at the introduction of direct flights between Walvis Bay and Windhoek, and that they would also con-
tinue their quest to have direct flights from Eros Airport, to Walvis Bay, Johannesburg and Cape Town, re-instated. Strydom says they have been trying for the last six to seven years, to realise this. “Nomad has been operating a successful airline in Namibia since 1989, but
we have always wanted to offer more to the travelling public. Our partnership with flyafrica.com delivers what we have always wanted: low fares and exceptional service. Travellers to Namibia have paid too much for too long and the launch
of Namibia flyafrica will change that,“ he was quoted in an earlier press release. Flyafrica.com will operate daily flights from Windhoek to Johannesburg from Monday 2 February 2015. Strydom told us the Cape Town flights would com-
mence a few weeks later, and by mid-2015, direct flights from Walvis Bay would hopefully bring welcome relief to flyers. Sales via flyafrica.com have commenced on 21 October 2014 and travel agency sales would follow soon after, according to the media release.

The Coastal Branch Organiser of the Namibia Food and Allied Workers Union (Nafau) who stands accused of corruptly using his office or position for gratification, appeared in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was granted bail of N$5 000. According to a highly reliable source the accused, Moses Veiko (31) represented employees of Schweizerhaus Café Anton, Swakopmund, in a salary increment negotiation, on behalf of
Nafau. The newspaper learned that workers at Café Anton approached their Union to negotiate for an 8.5 percent salary hike. Café Anton was apparently willing to offer an eight per-
cent increment. While negotiations were ongoing, Veiko supposedly approached the representative of Café Anton, asking her to convince the business’ management to pay him an amount of N$5
000, promising that he will then in return convince the workers to accept the eight percent increment. He afterwards raised the bar to N$7 000, believing that he has convinced her and the manageContinues on page 2
